Bruff's manager Ray Hayes has stepped down, this seasons assistant manager has been promoted, unfortunately he is not very popular with most of the players and already four of the better players in the Bruff squad have left (Croom to benefit from two of them including Pip Moloney).
Best of luck to Ray and thanks for all the good work and achievemnents he has made with Bruff :ball:
Must have been a good manager to get the club promoted last season.
Also heard today that Ger Manahan from summerville is stepping down. Maybe some of the ville boys can shed some light.

Have to agree with u Gerry he has some job on he's hands with

Sorry lads i got wrong info, gerry isnt going to Carew he has stepped down due to work commitments,Cyril will have a tough job as he is by far and away the best player sville have and will find it hard tryin to keep every1 happy if they do not pick up results especially with him being part of the team

Would of tought that they would get a guy with experience of managing a premier team to try and improve the team and keep them in the premier league for a few seasons, none of the two above have this ,

Well they have to start somewhere Merryman and they"l know the players and the setup and im sure they are well respected as is cyril who i heard is out and out favourite for the post, they"l be relegated anyway so it doesnt matter

Deccy Hayes (keeper), Brian Ahern, Paddy Moloney (to Holycross), Colin Madden, and Dermot left a couple of months ago. John A's retired aswell, he'll be assistant manager. Thats basically half the team. Tony Bourke and Eddie Hogan are staying though so all's not lost yet !

Pip Maloney and Brian Ahern are 2 super soccer players and will be a major loss to Bruff if they leave,i cant understand why no premier team want to sign these 2 lads, they would be an asset to any club

No truth in that at all Booster....Both lads from what i hear will not be playing much premier next year due to work committments but they are making themselves available for selection if need be.....Think they are signin a b or c form!!!
Not to sure about the cyril maher situation either but he did get elected onto the committee so maybe some peopl got that confused with the post of manager,,..
jesus thats a massive shock. after winning the double you would of thought he could of carried it on. but work is work. summerville need to get new man in place quickly to get new signings in and to make sure enough preparation has been done for the new season.
who are contenders???? will they get someone from outside the club?????
summervilleman
02/07/2007, 3:09 PM
I doubt they will get someone outside the club to manage us to be honest...It would be the right thing to do to be honest but i doubt it will happen..But stranger things have happened..But i do agree that a manager is needed pretty fast as players will want to know whats going on and if there is no one in charge they will go elsewhere!!!!It happened a few years ago(the year we got relegated from premier) when the manager left at the start of the year for personnal reasons,we lost a few players and barely won a game that year..No disrespect to the boys that came in but they did the best they could with what they had!!! Hoe rwe won't see the same happening again especially after the year we had!!! Doesn't look good though!!

Well lads Cyril Maher told me today that he reckons he is still hot favourite for the post,he reckons the only other candidates are Mona and Gorey,Shane Fitz, and a 500-1 outsider in the shape of Dermot Hogan...lads theres great value in Dermot as he has great pull on the comittee so get yer bets on early

summerville commitee meeting tonight.. only 2 candidates went for the job as joint managers...bobby o brien and dermot hogan..b team managers d last 2 or 3 years.players have a meeting tomorro nite after trainin to talk on the issue.. the impression i got was if the players are happy with the 2 above then they will be offered the job.
Whoever you are booster03 your information is incorrect, just goes to
show how someone of lesser mental abilities can get something so wrong
even when they are sitting in (by invitation) at a meeting.
committee business,as you are no doubt aware, is not for the public domain.
next time I see you at a meeting, I will explain this to you more clearly.

Have these guys ever managed a premier team before booster, would they be a good assset to the team and improve it from last year, it would be a shame to go straight back down after the year ye had ..

new pitch wont be near ready. it will be ready supposedly for the start of 08/09 season.
Summerville will only have one pitch for next season so portland will be even worse (if thats possible) as it will be overused.

Kevin Walsh memorial tournament :
Bruff United 5 - 3 Herbertstown
Cracking game, Bruff were really up for it with some very creative play, probably the best I've seen them play all year, made Herbertstown look ordinary. 1 - 1 at half time (missed the goals), Ed Hogan scored 5 mins into the second half, Herberstown put away a dubious penalty 5 mins later, followed up a minute later by a crafty free-kick catching out the Bruff defence while the ref was counting out the 10 yards, to make it 2-3. Bruff kept up the pressure and won an equally dubious penalty after Pip moloney had jinked past five defenders in the Herbertstown box. Ed Hogan put that one away, '90' bundled another one across the line in a goalmouth scramble, and Ed completed his second half hat trick with a well placed header from the back post. Most of this seasons Bruff team played, with a few new faces getting a run out towards the end. Well done Bruff, brilliant performance :ball:
