I'd say he'll end up at Galway. Seems like a Caulfield type of player.
Shame to see Meekison leave Bohs, I liked him as player but whenever he'd get a run going he'd get hurt.
Rumoured to be heading our way

Hopefully things take off for him.
Well it'll be a blast either way!

Surprise in that it was announced as a 2 year deal last year. Assuming it must have been 1 with a club option of the second year really.
He was poor when he did play this season. Fourth choice centre back really at this stage. Never really recovered from doing his achiles. Wonder will he head up to Harps.
We’re supposed to be announcing 4 signings this week
Would bite your hand off for Mahon at Harps. Himself and Conor Tourish would be a fairly formidable First Division centre back pairing.

Mountney and Meekison gone fron Bohs. Mountney was good at times but he also had a few nights like the one in Drogheda last Friday. We need someone consistently better. Meekison struggled for various reasons and just couldn't catch a break.

Good player. He doesn't have the legs but can be relied on to set the standard, chuck his body into things. Good captain.

My thoughts too. I would like to think they have better replacements lined up. Although I don't think we'll get a better back up player than Talbot. There will be a few clubs scrambling to sign him.

Thought he was a brilliant keeper for his first few seasons at the club but I was surprised when he signed back for last season. Wasted a year of his career pretty much.

Can see both Talbot and Buckley ending up at Dundalk for some reason. Kind of suits all parties both geographically and playing time wise, while Dundalk are in need of some experienced heads in order to avoid the drop

Athlone rumoured to be making a run at promotion under the new ownership. Very positive noises coming out of the club since the takeover, alot of "lost" fans back on board which is a start.

That would make many a sense for all sorts of reasons.

We all said the same last year and it couldn't have gone worse. You can't out a big enough asterisk beside Athlone regardless of who they sign, anything could happen

They signed half of a Longford team that finished 8th last season. Some of those lads they signed were bad characters too, signing players like Brendan Clarke is a different level all together. Be interesting to see if they can get the likes of Dean Ebbe back there. But you're right, the whole thing could implode any second
Jon Daly confirmed as new Waterford manager.
Jeez the last I heard of him he was living downstairs from Happy Gilmore

Whatever about onfield disfunction, off the field there are things being done that have not been done in the last 10-15 years in Athlone, namely mending bridges with the locals, forging links with businesses etc.. and football people who would not go near the place under the previous regime. So it's a good start anyway.
Having a CEO and Director of football with some accountability is also a welcome addition to the club, too much cloak and dagger stuff in the last decade, with dissent threatened with legal action etc...
I'd gladly take a solid year of midtable first division football if it meant there was a feel good factor about the place with some academy lads getting a run etc..

Stephen Grey was well regarded at Rovers and a big loss to the Academy, with him involved you have someone who is capable of putting the right structures in place for success

I feel like "manager/other-prominent-non-playing-figure leaving on Christmas Eve (or close to)" is a common enough occurrence in LoI that you could run a book on it.

Bit of a surprise, that. Are Shels looking at splashing the cash in a few places? They got a guy in on loan when Kearns got injured, and I think Healy has left too?

Conor Walsh gone there as sub keeper I assume. Was there not some fallout with Kearns? Great signing for Dundalk

Unbelievable news. Himself, McInroy and Wood were game changers so often last season. Takes the edge off the Kearns exit.

You got a good one there. Great piece of business. Flabbergasted when I heard the news earlier. His injury dragged on too long to be legit tbh. There was definitely something between him and Joey. Same with JOS. He'll be class for ye.
Raging as well cos he's the only player that my 4yo daughter knows, and she got a "Conor Kearns" jersey for Christmas to boot.

Bohs are leaving it late to sign players. 5 weeks to go and only 2 players in the door. They have given first pro contracts to several lads who may feature as match day squad players unless they are exceptional. I don't think they'll be good enough when it comes to the European games or a battle with Rovers, Shels Derry and Pats .I hope we are not buying some lost soul who nobody else wants. It's going to be a long season with midweek european games. They need to move fast and wisely.

Bohs aren’t alone in that boat to be fair. Pats have 8 bodies out the door and only 2 new ones in the door so far. I think Shels only have 2 new bodies in the door too (as well as Norris on a permanent but he was already there last year), Galway have I think 5 new signings but way more than that have left and need replacing, Rovers only signing has been Enda Stevens but their squad is packed with talent already to be fair and they’ve only lost Honohan.
From a Pats point of view at present, it’s probably the least I’ve been looking forward to a season in years. It feels like the only hope of finishing in a European place this year is hoping that players that were way off it last year start performing well again but getting lads out of that slump can be a difficult task. Here’s hoping the rest of the additions this month can help bring some much needed excitement and enthusiasm ahead of the season

This is defiantly the vibe that I've picked up from talking to different fans. The expectations and excitement levels going into the new season seem to be at an low particularly in recent times. The players and manger seem to have lost a lot of faith after the end of last season.

On a positove note for Pats fans youve won every pre season for the last few years so maybe starting with lower expectations might help the players to play with a bit less pressure.
Rovers are not just down Honahan we are also minus Mandroiu who is out probably for the whole season plus will be missing Pico for 6 weeks at least at the world cup.
Id expect us to bring in a couple yet.

He's a cultured left foot. Loads of potential, none of which will he come close to meeting as he'son a terminal slide. Kind of a Bastien Hery for 2026.

Confirmed now by the club. I've went from being very pessimistic to staying up to thinking we have an excellent chance with the 2 signings we have made last few days. A decent centre back to play with Leonard and il be fully confident we can stay up

We have just announced Conor Kearns on loan for the season. Delighted with that to be fair
If you get the 2023-2024 Conor Kearns you will have a top 3 goalkeeper in the league who will bail you out consistently with stunning saves. If you get the 2025 Conor Kearns you will have a bottom 3 goalkeeper devoid of confidence who will cost you stupid goals while having fitness concerns
If Shels want to win back that league title and make a run in Europe again then they couldn't take a risk on Kearns unless they were willing to shell the budget out on two no.1 keepers but Kearns would never have been the type to want to sit on the bench so I think it's a good loan transfer for all parties involved. Conor Walsh definitely has been signed as a no.2 keeper, no word yet on whether Wessel Speel will be signed extended loan or permanently or if we have another keeper lined up for the no. 1 spot

Solid signings for Dundalk. Burns, Kearns, and Mullins are all solid Premier Players, who are a known quality (Buckley not so sure). Teahan and Warren the young 1st Division Players worth a gamble. Probably still missing pace outwide though.
Wouldn't mind some 'exotic' signings now to fill out the squad.
Feel we will still be relying on youth players, with Spaight and Mulligan probably going to play a decent role when Leonard leaves.
