Interesting that he wasn’t mentioned as having left the club officially by them along with the other players they announced, instead he confirmed it via his own instagram account apparently. Talk that Paddy Kirk is leaving too

Will be interesting to see what Grant does next. By all accounts had Bohs and Pats offering him a lot of money at the time of his return, so I can see why they've not re-signed him given he's had little return on that investment, but at the same time you'd imagine he's taking a pay cut wherever he ends up. Still looks a player in there from the limited I've seen of him, just that it wasn't clicking.

He had a much better 2nd half of the season but he's just not the player he was unfortunately. Not the same amount of pace he once had and a bit too indecisive now where previously he would be at a man and drive towards goal he's very hesitant to take on anyone. I think there is still a player in there but you're right that he's just not justified his wage since he came back.

Rumour that Talbot is gone from Bohs too. Didn't make sense for him or the club for him to stick around as a backup keeper especially as he's probably a high earner.

If it’s Ryan he’ll be gone b4 next season starts!

I just find it odd they are looking to get one in so early, as god alone knows where things will end and where we will be in 2025.
Unless they have assurances of a licence already / funds for next season, as I`ll be blunt, I wouldn't be going near the place in the previous 'life support' status if I was a manager.
Didn't Roddy C last something like 2 weeks or so at Cork City one year due to similar stuff, or was that a new owner came in - thankfully he's busy plugging his book still !

Kirk, Grant and Talbot all gone? While none have been confirmed, I don't think they will be missed as none were outstanding, all very ordinary this season albeit Talbot only played twice and would be behind Choradska next season. Good to see Bohs clearing out or letting players leave so easily, hopefully they have better replacements lined up, including a striker who'll score goals

Yeah and TBH Talbot hasn't been the same since he picked up a few shoulder injuries on international duty. I'd say 2 big earners gone there in Grant and Talbot. While Kirk probably isn't on massive money he's was very suspect all season. Fingers crossed there's a new left full lined up because there are none under contract at the club to the best of my knowledge

Think Ciarán Behan, Dónal Higgins and Danú Kinsella-Bishop are the ones likely to leave UCD this year, having finished college. Three attacking options, though we struggled up front this year tbh, and they only managed 8 goals between them.
From the 19s, we have Sam Mohan, Adam Brennan, Hugh Parker and Roy Lawlor coming through, and they look very promising options based on the Youth League games in particular.

What’s the deal with Raggett? Very good player and imagine others clubs could be interested in him when he graduates.

Kilduff in at Dundalk per Dan McDonnell.

Started knocking a few in midway during the season. If he can build on that next year - and probably he can, though Danú didn't for whatever reason - he could become the 15-goal forward we missed this year but tended to have in our other First Division campaigns. Still in the "let's see" group for now I think.

Looking forward to Temple backtracking and not following through with this purely to spite McDonnell getting the exclusive.

Stefan Radosavljevic, Charlie Wiggett, and JR Wilson leaving Sligo Rovers
First 2 never played so no surprise whatsoever. Had heard rumours of Cork being after JR a few months ago. He’ll be a loss but certainly replaceable.
Jeez remember when Cork used to just constantly sign Sligo players.
Great days.

Rumoured to be interested in from Sligo in Lomboto. Looked a very limited player in Richmond a few weeks ago and was expectedly subbed off at half time

He's just not a Premier standard player. Very, very quick and strong. He's lazy though and he seems to read the game poorly, he reacts slowly to situations. He scored a couple of important goals for us but he has missed a lot of good chances.
Best of luck to him wherever he ends up, I like to see Galway lads do well regardless of who they play with.

In as much as these comparisons really mean anything, I'd have him roughly similar to Dara Keane, who got a move to Dundalk last year, but seems to have struggled to make an impact in a poor team, not helped by a lengthy injury it seems

Of these six, Brad Wade is the one I think is a loss. Doherty didn't really seem to fit into the system once Keating and Maguire arrived. The other four I'm not too surprised to see them leaving.

How did he go about fitting both Keating and Maguire into the team? I know at Pats Clancy used a 5-3-2 formation at times. Did he go with that again at Cork or was it a 4-4-2 or even a 4-3-3 with Maguire coming off the left as he did a good bit in England?

A pity for Jack, I think he's a really excellent first division footballer, but very light physically, I think he could do well at a more ball dominant PD team, but he's never gotten the opportunity. The gap in quality between the semi pro 1st div teams and the PD teams now is so large that maybe he just isn't physically up to it and that's why no one has taken that punt.

This would be a strange one. I know you had a rough 2nd half of the season but you would assume if you offered anyone at the club safety with games to spare they probably would have taken it at the start? Would it be Long walking away or a structural change? I got the feeling he didn't appoint his own assistant and that it was someone from within the parent clubs structure that he was saddled with.

FC32 will take Jack Doherty back as its where he had his best success. When City came in for him it was an opportunity for Jack to go full-time as the offer was there. He was right to try it, it didn't work, so best go back to where you were at your best beforehand!
I'm not sure if these rumours about Long and Waterford have anything to them. I've only saw 1 comment on social media about it. Long said after the game on Friday night he is planning ahead for next season, that players will come and go and he is under contract. Fans are behind him too and overall happy with the season despite a poor finish to it.

In fairness to Keane when fit he looked one of our best players.
If he had been fully fit this season, he would have started the majority of the games

Will Patching off to Carlisle United apparently, who are L2.
Didn't really expect him to stay. Such a talented player, but a tendancy to go missing for periods.
In fairness to him, he's been playing through injury for the past few months too.

Expected him to go, but thought he was better than League 2, to be honest. I suppose between injuries and everything else he hasn't really had a chance to put his best foot forward this year. Maybe he's a less appealing prospect than he should be because of that.
Good luck to him. Enough people I've talked to recently seem to want to pin a lot of the blame on Derry's falling away on him (unfairly imo), but he's some player when things are going his way.

He'd tell ya himself he was utter crap in all his spells with Longford. I'd imagine at this stage of his career he's happy to play ball as close to home as possible

I think he takes his ability a bit for granted, coasts some games and could still be motm or game changer. Id still love to know why Filipo made him train away from the senior squad and then sent him out on loan, for him to be back in July and was needed before the permanent exit to Derry.

Francely is probably one of the quickest and strongest players in the league. He's been a rough diamond for the past 5 years. He's got a lot of the raw attributes but has lacked composure so far in his career. A comparison to Darwin Nunez is probably kind to him but he does bring a certain chaos to a game but it's never clear who it's benefiting.
Think in the right circumstances is career could burst into life. That said I'm surprised he managed to find a sideways move.

Quickest, absolutely. Strongest? Nowhere near. He gets bullied off the ball regularly and often doesn't make it stick.
He was poor for us this season. Waweru who we farmed out to Cobh before joining Sligo is a far more accomplished player than Lomboto. He's quite lazy and very technically limited as a player, he relies heavily on his pace, and outside of that, he doesn't really offer much.
I think you're being overly fair in your assessment of him, he has shown little over the last few seasons to indicate that moving to Sligo will improve him. He's a poor player. He's not 20 or 21 anymore, he will be 25 next season.

New sponsor and kit deal meant to announced next week and possible work starting soon on the pitch and lights too, and the biggest arrival of all, seems there is positive news on the licencing and that was one I was really fearful of.
Bookings taking off in the YDC for indoor pitches and gym, fxxx knows why it took until end of 2024 for this to happen, as it was an obvious revenue spinner.
I have no idea how they have made so much progress over the past few weeks, seems almost dare I whisper, a positive vibe around the place.

Nothing like nearly going out of existence to focus minds.
In a strange way getting relegated is almost a blessing in disguise and gives you time to do a major overhaul and reset.
Glad to see things are progressing in the right direction and you will have a club next season.
Sometimes its no harm to go down, re-charge, re-org, then again in our scene it was fully deserved to go down, easily the worst in the PD last season.
I didn't see a single home win this season, missed all 4 wins, mix of holidays and just couldn't bring myself to go when Kinger got appointed ! Chance to win games now, and at least a match to go to on Fridays and that wasn't looking good in Sept !

It was exactly this that made our year in the FD in 2010 so enjoyable. Plus, you get to go away grounds you mightn't have been to in years.
In saying all that, one season was enough!
