What? Because your club would only offer him a one-year contract and he wanted the extra security for his family of a longer deal? Heaven forbid!
Typical sanctimonious Hibee crap. I'd guarantee each and every one of you if in the same position would have done the same thing as Killen., Still, that won't stop the hand-wringing in Leith...

From that post you obviously havent a CLUE about what went on with him at Hibs  But don't let that stop your typical sanctimonious celtic crap ;)

Brown was a joy to watch in the 2nd half yesterday. Definitely heading for world class status in a few years imo.

He certainly appears to have the confidence to go to the very top. The way he took the pis$ out of Miranda in the last ten mins!
I see Alan O Brien was on the bench for Hibs and got a few mins towards the end. Any idea why he pulled out of the Ireland squad?

Benfica away last year finished him in the eyes of many of our fans.
he'll have his chance to redeem himself in the estadio luz later in october , he has made a great start to the season.

As I'm sure you well know Celtic turned down a £9m cash offer for Brown from an EPL club, believed to be Everton, on transfer deadline day last week. He could well therefore have been a Premier League player by now but the club turned the offer down without hesitation. Any other offers in the next couple of years will no doubt be treated in the same way.
In any cae he'll have Champions League football every season and a whole clutch of domestic honours at Celtic. There are only two EPL clubs that can deliver this kind of return and their midfields look full at the moment. Why would he leave for an Everton, Portsmouth or a Tottenham (whose only experience of Europe is the odd Yoofa Vase place) when he can, as a Celtic player, be playing and competing equally against the likes of Manchester United, AC Milan and Barcelona on a regular basis?
Brown is on a five-year deal so it might be a couple of years longer than you think before he is tempted to look elsewhere. He'll learn his trade at Celtic and the potential the club bought at the start of the summer will be turned into class and craft by the superior coaching, facilities and football available to him at his new club. When he goes (finally) it won't be for a penny less than £15m NPV.
Anyway, thanks very much for Brown. See you next summer for Stevenson and Benjelloun... ;)

Benji definitely has potential, but is a very frustrating player to watch, can be a greedy fooker with the ball. I'd rate Fletcher ahead of him

ahem (http://foot.ie/showpost.php?p=605659&postcount=1095). ;) Stevenson looks a fantastic prospect.

He's exactly the same type of player as Roy Keane. He will be a holding midfielder in years to come but right now he's a typical box to box midfielder. Himself and Donati are supposed to share the defensive side and attacking side but Brown seems to be holding back more than Donati in the last few games. He mainly played the holding role against Spartak.
In comparison to Keane, I don't think he's as dominant as Keane but he's more mature. He winds up opponents as much as possible but so far he has controlled his temper and never looks like losing the boil. He technically better than Keane and a more skillful player. In terms of fitness and energy he's up there with Keane too. Nothing fazes him. There have been times in games where he has been quiet, you'd never forget Keane was on the pitch and that's really the only thing that really seperates the two. I watched a Man City v Man Utd match from '93 on ESPN Classic last night and most of the play went through Keane, even then.

brown doesnt exhort the other players to perform better or indeed cane them in the way that roy did , perhaps he will once he fully finds his feet, couldnt ask for more from him at the moment though.

Well to be perfectly honest, Murphy is not Maldini. It is possible that a young player may actually provide some competition for him. If I had the choice I'd take Stevenson without a doubt. He'll be better than Murphy imo.

"Murphy is not Maldini" - Of course not, but trying to compare him with one of the best defenders in the world  NO defender in the SPL comes close to Maldini ;)
Murphy is a class defender, and currently he is a much better option than Lewis Stevenson, Stevenson will eventually take Murphys place, but bringing up a quote from me from last season when Stevenson had just come into the senior team from the youth team is a bit pointless.

The HB is just like an off topic forum where you can discuss what you like where you like. Not my cup of tea. Although I do have over 4,000 posts on there, don't ask me how. It's just so easy to run up posts on that forum.
CM is simply rubbish. You post a thread and it's on the 2nd page within minutes. Someone disagrees with you and you're called a hun. It's terrible place.

Thanks for the run down on Scott Brown EB.Suprised he has only a few caps for Scotland.I know he is young but I thought they would be crying out for a player of his calibre.I remember reading a quote from somebody at Rangers(think it was David Murray) that they could not afford his wages which I thought was a strange thing to admit. Is Rangers budget really that much lower than Celtics or was it some kind of attempt to put pressure on the lad?

Firstly, everyone is bias towards the club they support, FACT
Secondly, if someone was to poke fun at John O'Shea and Ian Harte for having very similar nightmare performances. Would you take it that that person is saying they don't like Irish people?? Very strange logic you have

I had written a pre match post yesterday writing off Celtic in the CL and writing off Strachans chances to get his team Celtic mk3 going :)
I see there is a bit more to the 2 Scotts than was evident in the other CL games.
Last night was good though Milan were powder puff and only played when they had to and when they did play, the 4 or 5 one touch football was different class.
Jarosik surprised, wasn't bad at all considering his absence, plenty of mistakes but was willing all night, a Killer Kilbanish type performance.
Our lad McGeady looked like he was starting where he left off against the Czechs (against the same full back?). But he is more sure of himself in Celtic's team than ours, he is better supported by those around him. Cut inside a bit more, lost the ball a lot less, covered better and coulda scored one.
Nakamura is more than essential, vision and skill.

an accurate enough description imo.
however i still think that Celtic are seriously weak up front and even though McDonald scored I thought he had a poor enough game. Nailor and Doumbe had decent games troo and I reckon Scott Brown was immense in the first half, well up until he got booked anyway.
Milan can be top drawer when they want to be and it is a pity they are 'ageing' as their skill is only produced when it is needed whereas a younger team would be able to maintain that level for a good proportion of the game.
Overall a good night for Celtic on the pitch.

I actually thought McDonald played well. He really did trouble Bonera and Nesta. His first touch is superb, the ball just sticks to him.
