So long as they don't draw Hearts along the way. Is it my imagination or do Hibs have a poor record against their Edinburgh rivals over the past few years ?

Good to see the Hun mess up last night:D Hibees back to 3rd, 7 points behind Jambos. A narrow win for the super Hibs:D But as Livi manager Paul Lambert said after the game "7-0 flattered my team, it should've been 12 or 13 nil"
Well done Hibs, bring on the Scottish Cup Final:D

Although they played well in the first half, they were nearly punished for not killing off the game at 2-0 up. Falkirk missed a great chance in the last minute to snatch a point(just like Dundee last week).

More than the first half, it was up until the Falkirk goal. That was when they got nervous.

Great win for Hibs, good to see them back in 3rd place. Though feel a bit sorry for Lambo, a thankless task he has there.
SCF?? You have to overcome the might Falkirk/Ross Cty yet - and lets not foget Hibs form against the lesser sides isn't the best - or has that now changed after last night?
Great to see the old current buns continue their run of form:D hopefully villareal will hammer the final nails in the coffin!!
What a win for Hibs.

I love that about you eirebhoy, you are certainly a half glass full man!!
I didn't make it up last night but listened to it on the radio. From what I heard we had a few short spells in either half that could be interpreted as good football. Other than that it was a very average performance that could again cost us points when we sat back on the 2-0 lead. But for the width of a post and it could have been 2-2 (I suppose we did hit the woodwork as well). 'Back to playing good football' nah....just better than recent weeks!
Sounded like Keane had a great game in the centre. Wonder what he'll do for Sunday with regards to Lennon??

Well I watched the match and trust me, it was a very good performance. :) Strachan said it was the most comfortable he felt since the Aberdeen home game in September. You're right, but for the width of the post it could have been 2-2 (although I knew it was off target as soon as he hit it :)), but up until there goal in the 82nd minute Celtic should have been 4 or 5 goals up.

I guess its all about opinions and for last nights performance mine is obviously tainted by the commentators on the radio who weren't quite so upbeat about the performance as you are. Nor indeed are many (not all) celtic fans at the game last night from what Ive read on other mesasage boards.
So forgive me if I reserve judgement for now.;)

McLeish to leave at the end of this season: official.
Scottish giants Rangers have confirmed that manager Alex McLeish with leave Ibrox at the end of the current season.
The Light Blues boss was given a stay of execution just before the New Year and the Glasgow club's Bank of Scotland Premier League form picked up.
But they lost 2-0 to Aberdeen last night, following an embarrassing 3-0 Tennent's Scottish Cup fourth round exit at the hands of Hibernian at Ibrox.
The SPL champions have slipped back into fourth place in the table, behind leaders Celtic, Hearts and Hibernian.
The Light Blues, who are still in the Champions League where they will face Villarreal in the last 16, are now 18 points behind their great rivals ahead of the third Old Firm clash of the season at Ibrox on Sunday.
Chairman David Murray told Rangers World: "The Manager's departure was agreed in early January as Alex believed that a four-and-a-half year term at the club was an appropriate period upon which to end his tenure.
"It had always been the board's intention to make this announcement after the Villarreal Champions League matches, in conjunction with other major changes that will have a significant impact, both in terms of new investment and personnel.
"However, in light of recent results and helpful discussions with various supporters' groups, directors and senior players, it was agreed that the announcement of the manager's departure should be made now.
Alex McLeish has enjoyed a highly successful period winning seven trophies over four-and-a-half years and during this time there has been significant financial constraints throughout the football environment in general.
"I also believe that, collectively, the club and the supporters together will play their part in success returning to Rangers Football Club."

Alex McLeish will be stepping down at the end of the season, as prevously posted according to radio reports this morning Chairman Mao ( sorry Murray) will be announcing his successor next month. That is not going to do much , to motivate the players, who are answering to an already lame duck coach now is it?

even speed reading that thread, you can see varying opinions on the game. A 'solid' performance does not necessarily equate to good football?

Before Hertz came calling it's worth remembering that Rix was all set to take over the manager's job at Crawley Town in the Nationwide Conference. Coincidentally it looks like that job is just about to become vacant again. Maybe the Hertz fans could have a whip-round for a one-way ticket south? I'm sure they could scrape together the £5 Megabus fare to London... :D

Not a great game. Celtic were worthy winners but at 1-0 its always a bit twitchy!! Hartson was very effective and his performance in this game makes me very pleased that he has retired from the Wales squad!!!
Hearts and Hibs again, show their inconsistency dropping points, that on paper, were there for the taking.

Awful game. Rangers created the better chances. In fact, other than the Celtic goal, I can't remember another Celtic chance so I am not sure about them being worthy winner. Malony scampers around the place to no great effect. WHy did they get rid of Agathe - at least he could go past players. Keane was effective without being the domineering Keane of old.

Probably a bit of green tinted glasses, however IMO Celtic controlled all of the first half and most of the second half without creating too much. Agreed, Rangers had a couple of good opportunities which they should have taken but didn't. Ferguson was non existent for them.
Maloney had a poor game, though he has been playing well this season.
Agathe obviously didnt fit in to Strachans plans. A good player for Celtic, though he played on the Right and as a wingback for the last few years.
Thought Hartson & Keane played well as did Wilson at Left back

He certainly has played well this year, but our best? Im not so sure. Sure didn't you make the same comment about Boruc only a couple of weeks ago?
Maloney has been great apart from the last 2-3 games, Nakamura has been a revelation whilst still adapting to life in scottish football.

Probably did;) What I meant there was he's best keeper in league, closely followed by Alan Combe
But I think celtic would still be top of league without Boruc, but definitely not without Hartson. Just my opinion mind;)

Hartson was 5th choice striker and one stage and the injuries to Zurawski, Beattie and Sutton got him back in. He has been important this season but definitely not more important than the 2 wingers.

Totally agree with you on that point.
On the other hand I have serious doubts, about Celtic having to force on their talent to overcome a poor Rangers side. After scoring the goal Celtic just seemed to settle for that result. Never gave the impression they wanted more. But yes I agree with you awful game...

There wasn't really a need for Celtic to press further. They could still be playing now and I'm sure Rangers wouldn't have mustered a decent chance in all that time. Le Guen will soon find out if he takes over at Greyskull that you can't polish a turd...

Dunfermline's goal was a mile offside. When the ball was played to the player who kicked it back across goal for the assist the guy was ahead of every Celtic player including Boruc. Celtic also denied a blatant penalty at 1-0. It could also easily have been made 9-1 in injury time. Dunfermline were awful. Zurawski was in inspired form and finished excellently. Maloney also scored a cracker of a goal.

What are you Celtic fans opinions on Boruc's comments about certain players and the Celtic supporters?
I think it was tongue in cheek. Strachan says Boruc had told the players about it in advance. He could also have been flattering the Legia fans as it was a fans forum. You could also say he is right about the atmosphere. He clearly seems happy at Celtic Park to me though. He ran the length of the field to celebrate Lennon's goal yesterday. Typical tabloid stirring up rubbish if you ask me. We have no idea of the context and tone of what he said.

What are you Celtic fans opinions on Boruc's comments about certain players and the Celtic supporters?
A few Legia Warsaw fans on Celtic site's can't believe the articles in the papers. Boruc told Hartson what he said about him last Tuesday, he said it as a joke, and according to Strachan they had a laugh about it. Boruc doesn't seem to care what the papers write though and I'd say thats the first of many interviews like this with him. :) This is what he said according to a Legia fan:
You also have to remember this interview was done in front of 100's of ordinary Legia punters and not the media. So what he said may have been to butter them up and also a lot of it maybe tongue in cheek.
On Legia Warsaw:
I am 99% sure that Legia will win the title this year. I will make sure I come to the last match with the fans and I buy thousands of you (Legia) fans beer if we become the Champions!
On Celtic:
"I did not have problem adapting. My teammates Stillian Petrov and Stanislav Varga have taken care of me. They are my best friends in the team. The big difference though is training is worse at Celtic compared to Legia. Krzysztof Dowhań is the overall coach at Legia. However, here each trainer just does his own specialist thing. So it's not so much hard work I practice, I might get fat?? Yeah?. "
On Rangers:
"You know how I do my thing before each game? The fans are Rangers think it is provocation. Would I play for Rangers? No! Would you play for Polonia?
On Arsenal:
"I had a proposal from Arsene Wenger. I would have to play out my loan spell with Celtic to June then move. However, I recognized that it was too move again. I want to play with Celtc in the Champions League.
On Zurawski:
Zurawski is my teammqate and thats all. He isnt on the bottom of my favourite Celtic players only becouse hes my compatriot
On Representing Poland:
I dream of playing on the World stage. But the trainer will decide that and perhaps I'll be number one or it might be Dudek. Nikopolidis sat in reserve for Greece but he became the number on when they became Champions Of Europe. Four years ago we had an easy group but we never managed to get out of the group. I hope this time history does not repeat itself.
On he future:
I will return to at the end of my career but not as a player. As a fan standing on the side supporting Legia.

By the way, has anyone noticed that 2nd Division Gretna have made the Scottish Cup semis? First team from outside the top two flights to do so for decades. Also WTF did the SFA insist on both SC-F.games KO 12.15 @ Hampden, FFS?
Know the KO time dictated by TV, but the venue?
Should have been @ Motherwell & Murrayfield respectively IMO, to accomodate the appropriate potential crowds rather than that soulless dump. Obviously Glasgow is the home of, er, 'Scottish' football but this particular decision is pathetic.
There's no way our semi should've been at Murrayfield. Its in Jambo land and they've recently played european games there. Hampden is rightful place for the semi. Either venue would sell out for this match
