So many ho-hum zombie films it's easy to forget that Romero had layer upon layer of social commentary in his work.

I believe they've been doing a few gigs without him recently (working around his illness) so maybe not all lost.

I remember his broadcasts well. I've an odd nostalgia for those old-style news readers. Tons of gravitas and proper diction. No getting fake news onto their autocues!

Ah that's too bad. He always had good stories when he did radio interviews...I like that scene in Casino where he has to lie to the Boss. What could I say? If I told the truth we all could have gotten whacked.

What a voice. Absolutely loved his commentary. Always felt like he was speaking to you rather than simply commentating.

Thanks for the memories, Jimmy. His eyes were a bit green tinted when commentating on the boxing but one of the good ones, along with Philip Greene who also passed away a few years ago.

LAPD seem to have made a balls of this. They confirmed the death earlier, but only in the past few minutes have released a statement saying that the death is not confirmed. TMZ reporting he's still clinging on to life support.

It's being reported on various other channels now (CNN etc) that he has died. He had a massive heart attack at his home in Malibu and was rushed to UCLA hospital (not far away just outside Santa Monica).
