A classic villain, but I think his brother Felix (Jeremey Irons) was even better.

In no way connected to the villainous theme of the last few posts...
PJ Mara ('Maaaaahhhraa') died overnight. Whatever his politics, he was probably the shrewdest political operator of my lifetime.
http://www.rte.ie/news/2016/0115/760336-pj-mara/
Remember hearing an anecdote about him years ago - true or not I can't say, but the source was well connected... Apparently he walked into a bank on Baggot St in the middle of an armed robbery. The robber turned the gun on him and said 'down on the floor'. Mara replied 'f*** off' and walked out.

Was listening to Newtalk this morning and they were playing "Scrap Saturday" excerpts in his honour. I thought it was deeply disrespectful. Will be the last time I listen to that Morning show.

R.I.P. Dale Griffin. He was a noted record producer (The Cult, Hanoi Rocks) and radio producer of sessions by the likes of Nirvana, as well as being part of the influential Mott the Hoople (Mick Jones of the Clash was a big fan).

Just f**k off world!
Eagles are one of my favourite bands. Growing up listening to pretty much nothing else but metal, the Eagles were the band that really opened up music to me.

the Eagles were the soundtrack to endless drives with my parents growing up. Hotel California is amazing, but Take It Easy was always my favourite.

Terry Wogan I shall miss. He did an interesting tour around Ireland series of programmes for the Beeb and it certainly was from a green perspective, which I thought was interesting for someone who almost became part of the establishment over there.

I always remember Frank in the Casanova series - I was only a young fella at the time and saw things I didn't know existed.

Yes - there was also something subversive (in the warmest sense) of his role in the establishment.
