He also got to give Sherilyn Fenn a seeing to in Boxing Helena. Too short a life but well lived I'd say.

I loved Bill Paxton in True Lies and Aliens.

He directed and starred in the excellent Frailty, a few years before Matthew McConaughey's career renaissance.

Having glanced at his filmography, there are several highly rated movies I haven't checked out yet including Near Dark and One False Move.

R.I.P. Hudson.

I was ignoring that when I made my comment above tbh. You don't have to agree with a man on every ground to think of him as decent. And God knows I stand on the other side of the aisle when it comes to that particular debate.

Chuck Berry

I saw a film of a rock n roll concert from 1972 in Wembley Stadium on Sky Arts not so long ago. Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and the rest were good but f*ck me Chuck Berry was absolutely amazing, blew everyone else away with a scorching set. R.I.P.

Was still playing up to what - last year?

One of the most influential people ever in terms of shaping popular culture, and that's one hell of a claim to fame.

Though not sure if he'd have done it were it not for that mysterious phone call from his cousin, Marvin.

One of the greatest a*seholes to ever step onto a stage, but nobody can doubt the legacy he's left behind in terms of his music alone.

A story about how he almost refused to play in Letterkenny in 2008 because the wrong type of Mercedes picked him and his wife up from Dublin airport sums up just how much of a tit he was, but everyone who has ever held a guitar has tried to either mimic his famous duck walk, or tried to play that opening riff from Johnny Be Goode at some point.

A proper legend of the game.
