Dont wish a bad injury to anyone, even to our biggest rivals Slovan. But these things happen, David Holman their key midfielder did his crucial ligaments the other day so they need to make some late changes to tonights game v Rovers. Everything creative goes through him so they have a problem here going forward.

Thats steep prices for watching your clubs in Europe btw. Our national TV got the rights for all matches of slovakian teams in european cups so Im surprised a way richer and most likely better run RTE didnt manage similar. Is Slovan - Rovers free to watch in Ireland?

(The last encouragement for Shamrock Rovers and irish fans: We, Spartak Trnava have amazed more points than Slovan this year, beating them twice as well. We disgracefuly lost to a semi-pro outfit from Malta in the 1st ECL round last night... Slovakian clubs are not that good in this football lark and Rovers should play with a good bit of confidence tonight)

The match is not free to air its a Stream from each club.
RTE don't care about the League , Soccer is an afterthought here compared to Irish Football (like Australian Rules football) and also another game played only in Ireland called Hurling. The Euros is on and thats enough soccer on TV in their opinion.
Like you i wouldn't wish injuries on players but you have given me a little more hope.

Do you happen to know whats the name of the slovak TV station showing the game tonight.
I have people with dodgy box capabilities to tune into overseas TV stations.

Many thanks for the details

Covid trouble at Dundalk now aswell…..

Newtown also having issues. Tbh if you now tested any sample of people eg a squad of 20 or so players you are practically guaranteed a number of positives.

Will very likely crop up for Rovers now too but more for 2nd leg.

None of the above by sbgwa is true.

Can't show tonight's game due the Euro semi-final - can't get in the schedule, can't resource with staff and facilities. Simply not possible and nothing to do with RTÉ not caring about the League. Same with Dundalk's 1st QR game in 2016.

If Rovers get a result tonight, then there's a fair chance next week's game will be live on RTÉ but again depends on costs, schedule, staffing, facilities etc.

It's not ever a black and white issue of pro-or-anti-LOI, despite what the conspiracists among the LOI fan base would have you believe.

It's on 2 (Dvojka), the channel may also be listed under STV2 or RTVS 2 in some places.

So far nothing to be too scared of bar the usual - not making good chances count and isolated errors (nearly) heavily punished.

A few too many aimless hoofings away of crucial posession already. but holding their own. Great defending there to snuff out the danger.

There's a lot of rushed stuff from rovers even though the pace of the game isn't that hectic. Need to be more composed, but I suppose that's the step up

Weiss on the bench for Slovan I see - slight surprise, though maybe he needs a break after the Euros. Or could be a sign Slovan are underestimating Rovers too. You never know!

Dunno why Bradley has towell in the team. He's not match fit. Should have Danny in there instead.
Rovers, like a lot of LOI in Europe, look like they're playing the occasion and not the opposition.

Rovers are. There's no inventiveness in their game. It's all very laboured, offering nothing in attack.

Indeed. The goal came from a cross on his side where the opponent had oceans of free space. Mucked up a decent crossfield pass from Greene too. Agree with pateen. All of Rovers best stuff has come from Scale's crosses. Sort of unlucky to be 1 down. It's been a real 0-0 sort of game.

Well that was frustrating we were 1 nil down by the time i got the stream working.
The highlights package at halftime looked like we were in it.
A goal now is needed although with away goals not counting double even 1 nil loss isnt to bad

He hasnt been the same player since Filipo tried to play him as a wing back. Rovers playing a flat back 4? (Happy to share the stream, especially with some who know who yiz are but jaysus there are a lot more people lurking that posting to foot.ie saw damn all of the game answering pm's lol).

The goal seemed soft at first, thought Mannus should have come off his line to get a hand on a floated cross with little pace but tbh after it looked like it would have been a stretch. Also looked that he should have done better with the save but the header was close in to the body so not necessarily bread and butter stuff though I dont think the header was intended as much more than getting something on it. There was no pressure on the cross though. A Greene with a bit more pace would had Slovan scrambling. There is a bit of hoofing it, ok with Gaffney back defending but other should have more composure - screaming out for a Stephen O'Donnell type to put a foot on the ball. Finn has been roaming all over the place, in the heat that will take its toll. What to do now? Shut up shop and keep the tie alive for next week or try an bag that away goal. Not playing well enough to take the game to Slovan looking for that goal imo. Rovers have gotten the ball wide at times and crosses in but front men just not on it quick enough.

Feeling a bit like Dundalk V Slovan, not beyond us just effective!

Absolute dog€hit from Rovers. Outplayed by a team in pre season who are barely mustering an effort.
Bradley needs to get Gaffney, Towell & Gannon off- Get Mandriou, Burke & Joey on.

I just don’t rate Bradley as a coach, he’s got the best squad in Ireland at his disposal but when it comes to Europe and Rovers need to find another gear his coaching ability is exposed.

Rovers just not the same without McEneff and Byrne. They basically created everything. Towell is not going to change much, he’s not got the range of McEneff or the creativity of Byrne. This game is just exaggerating the same issues they’ve had in the league. Tie is still alive though and it’s not beyond possibility that Rovers nick a goal before the end.
