I’m not sure but I see Bert Kassies site has Rovers coefficient for next season as 6, on the basis that that they get the minimum this season. That would obviously change should they win a round.
a coefficient of 6.0 woud have been enough to be seeded this year, so should rovers progress a round and win the league this year their consistency will be rewarded :s
on the other hand dundalk's value has dropped from a valuable 10.5 to 8.5. Currently Dundalk should they progress are seeded in *all* three qualifying rounds but 8.5 would not have been enough to be seeded in the 3QR this year...
The lowest seed for 1QR was 2.25 so Bohs/Sligo who are currently on 2.0 should make sure they qualify/progress so that next year or the year after they are able to build.
How are clubs and teams etc not getting their house in order to take advantage of what consistent participation brings..

As a Dundalk fan that stings a bit at the moment!!

Since Rovers got the bye to round 3 of the ECL should they lose to Bratislava they are actually already guaranteed 2 points for this year, so their seeding will be at least 6.5 for next year.
This is kind of one of the best things about the league I think, it's so unbelievably competitive and no team has a god given right to succeed (ala PSG/Juve/Bayern/Celtic). Dundalk and Cork seemed light years away only a couple years ago, now they are so, so far off the pace. Obviously the same 3/4 teams qualifying for Europe every year would be better for our European ranking. But I do really love the jeopardy of this league and how hard it is to have sustained success, which is what makes Dundalk's recent run so impressive.

The draws have been pretty kind to all teams this year so should be quite hopeful.... However the league is utter tripe, so this could end up being an embarrassing year.
Feel free to drag this up when all four teams are in the group stages.

Bohs v Stjarnan in Lansdowne Road (https://bohemianfc.com/?p=17060).
That's an unusual decision - is it to increase the number of people who can go to the match?

Yes. Hopefully 5,000 crowds at that point .would make for a useful pilot .

I heard it was because Bohs fans wanted to see the inside of the Aviva and the FAI in fairness obviously felt sorry for them

Aviva or Tallaght to increase numbers that can attend Bohs would bust the budget to use the Aviva. 5k would be enough to cover all season ticket holders + some.

Both Starnan and FH are not up to much this season, though considering Bohs' record in Iceland they might be revisiting that decision to switch venues for the return leg.

It's easy to say, but not so easy to do. Other clubs have the same idea, so spend increasing sums of money to make Europe. So you also have to spend more and more each year just to stand still. It all becomes a financial arms race, and things inevitably go wrong at some point for some participants (Shels, Cork, Derry etc).
We've seen what happens when clubs think they can just dominate the league to make continual progress ion Europe.

I wonder if the FAIA has done them a favourable rate on the rent ? They might surprise us.

Nah Shamrock Rovers FAI would never allow that, exclusive rights on pilot schemes in Tallaght and all that, and its Bohs!

Away goals rule abolished.
I'm delighted with that tbh i found myself sitting in Tallaght crapping myself every time the opposition came near our goal and i never really felt the opposite to that feeling when Rovers were away from home.
Probably says more about my mental state than the actual rule.

Although the away goals rule has been of benefit in the likes of Pats knocking out Krylia Sovetov and so on, with our clubs generally performing much better at home than we do in away legs, it may actually benefit us. A 2-1 loss at home in the first leg or a 1 or 2-0 defeat away first suddenly becomes a lot more doable in the second leg for example

It'll be interesting to see the impact. It's hard to compare to prior years because presumably this'll impact the way future games play out. Obviously before you would chase a game when behind on away goals and you might concede another, whereas now you can keep things tight and go to extra time.
Going off rsssf (http://rsssf.com/tablesi/ier-ec.html), I make it the LoI's record in away goals is -
Bohs v Omonia 1978 - A first - won
Athlone v Copenhagen 1981 - A first - lost
Rovers v Linfield 1984 - A first - lost
Cork v Cwmbran 1993 - A first - won
Bohs v Minsk 1996 - H first - lost
UCD v Kyustendil 2000 - H first - lost
Bohs v Aberdeen 2000 - A first - won
Pat's v Rijeka 2002 - A first - won
Pat's v Ghent 2002 - A first - lost
Shels v KR 2004 - A first - won
Cork v Djurgardens 2005 - A first - won
Bohs v Riga 2008 - A first - lost
Pat's v Krylya Sovetov 2009 - H first - won
Pat's v IBV 2012 - H first - won (aet)
Dundalk v FH 2016 - H first - won
Pat's v Jeunessa Esch 2016 - H first - won
UCD v Dudelange 2015 - H first - won
So 11 wins and 6 defeats, and a five-match winning run means we're probably due a couple of defeats :) 6-4 when we've been away first, and 5-2 when we've been at home first, but I'm not sure that's statistically significant enough to draw conclusions from.
I'd say it'd benefit the bigger clubs because (a) UEFA and (b) if you're the underdog you typically don't want to go another 30 minutes. We're typically underdogs in Europe, so it's probably bad.

2-0 up against BATE was hell knowing that one goal overturns a match we were dominating - until Benson put it to bed in the rain!
Hi there from Slovakia. Good time to play Slovan, they have a new manager doing a bit of rebuild of their squad. Despite promises of big budget the new singnings so far have been underwhelming. That said Rovers have to attack in Bratislava. Parking the bus against some of these skillful foreign players of slovan would be costly. Just go for it Shamrocks, they look slow and shaky at the back.

On the other hand, Stevie O'Donnell's goal out in Budapest effectively killed the game there. Fella has been through both extremes!

Looking at the away goals thing and this new ECL, whatever interest the general public had in LOI games and/or LOI games in Europe I think this effectively kills it. THe odd big tie against a decent European opponent generated a bit of talk around the country, now its much less likely these ties will occur and therefore interest in playing some random Eastern European team will not whet the appetite.
Hopefully the money that is generated for the clubs will make up for it

Bohs have announced that home euro keg on 15 July going ahead with 6k capacity.
1600 members/ st holders get their tickets on line tomorrow
20 euro per ticket general admission from Saturday, but tickets have to be bought in pairs for covid reasons although not clear why that is.
Should get 5k crowd.

Good money spinner that, 100-120k if it’s a crowd between 5 and 6 thousand. Surely there will be a huge appetite there for that game with it being Bohs first appearance at the aviva at last, their first European game in Dublin in nearly a decade and not to mention fans first game back in a year and a half

Even if Bohs made about 30k-40k out of it after costs, that'll go a long way to paying for the away leg.
Presume Bohs are giving their ST holders and members a discounted or free ticket for this?

Will be free for 1600 STs and members and probably a few hundred free for journos , officials FAI Covid compliance etc.
30 k is about the most that will come out of that fixture Nigel.

Would this be via a 'connection' between some Dundalk and Welsh fan types from a umber of years back? I suppose it will be good to have some Dundalk support there but leave the auld covid stuff in Wales!!

Bohs tickets on general sale now , picked up two. It’s €20 plus fees so €45.90 total.
Company that run the ground on behalf of IRFU and FAI might.
I've been following the results in Iceland since the draw. Starman seem to have recovered from a poor start and are now one of the form teams in the league, FH on the other hand haven't won in ages.
I think both sides are away in Iceland first and if they can come back with a draw or at least an away goal I'd fancy them to finish the job at home.

The fee adds 15% onto the price of each ticket ! Ridiculous really. They might vaguely justify that per transaction, but not on each individual ticket. Are they being sold through Ticketmaster ?
