Good to hear. Didn't realise ye were looking a bit iffy. Would be a shame to see Bohs fold, happy days playing against ye in Central Park when Paddy fish was ye're manager.

I don't know how many players Kinsale have lost But I would be shocked if the reigning champions and the most consistant team in the AUL since their title win back in 2002/03 were really candidates for relegation.

Alot of the lesser teams getting the "byes" in the AOH Cup. Argument for giving some of the "bigger teams" a bye again??????????

How do people think that Kinsale will struggle???

Over the last 9 years Kinsale have won 10 Premier trophies in the AUL.
6 Prem Leagues (+2 second place)
2 AOH Cup (+1 second place)
2 Mossie Linnane (+3 second place)

During this period no club has come close to our achievements, and still we get written off by "experts".

Is it because we are not from the city???

Anyways, that's all history!!!
However, we hope to continue our "struggle" this season :ball:

I read the comment from backpass as Kinsale & Blarney Street would struggle to win the title - I dont think he meant relegation?

haha Shilts - them damn country bumpkins cant kick a ball without O Neills on it at all!!!!! Make sure you tell me the result of the first City side to visit ye who thinks that!!

Seeing the AOH fixtures really sent the shivers up the spine - the season is nearly here! We got a nasty enough draw - at home you have to be kinda happy but it will be sticky.

I can see both sides of the bye argument and I am leaning in favour of staggered byes with first in Round 2 and Prem in Round 3 or something like that. A few teams do not enter the FAI or MJC in case they get a hammering so lets avoid hammerings when we can - no team gains from it. I have been on both sides of hammerings and neither is nice.

Can't believe people saying kinsale will struggle. To my knowledge they've lost 2 players from last years team, saw them play last week and they've got some great players still... I'll be surprised if they're not fighting for the league again this year...

kinsale wont struggle mightnt be as strong after losing hurley best keeper in the league with years but they will definitely finish in the top 3 but not 1st hopefully:)

There was only one poster that said Kinsale and Blarney St. Will struggle, Backpass I think. More aimed to wind people up than anything I say, and its worked. Blarney St. Have a squad of 20 odd judging from recent friendlies they've played. Kinsale will be hard to beat as always. Expect a more competitive premier this year on the same note.

Anyone got the Rockmount V Fairview score from 2nite? Great win over Blarney St. for us last nite but really only a pre-season game, wouldn't read to much into it for either team. Though I'd expect both to be there or there abouts this year. Street looked good and should do well this season. Shilts I think when it was said Kinsale would struggle it meant to win league not be relegated. Also just to clarify a comment you made a few months back, 6 Premier titles is amazing but not a record. At various stages the top league in the AUL has change just like the English Championship changed to Premiership. In the AUL from '47 to '72 it was the 1st Div. then the Premier. In the early 90's it was Intermediate for about 5 years, so I think you'll find Castleview, Temple Utd. and especially St.Mary's can match that and better. Still a great record though, 10 trophies in 9 years. Wish I had a few, especially AOH, we need one more to equal St.Mary's record of 6 wins.

I don't think that I said that Kinsale held the record. I may have said that "we had some record over the last few years". Not quite the same 'your honor' :D

Anyway, if you count all forms of what the top league in the AUL was called since Mortonville won it in 1947/48
(League, Jun Div 1, Intermediate League, Premier League)...

The records are as follows:

Temple United 9
St. Marys 7
Kinsale 6
Castleview 6
Wembley 5
Greenmount Rangers 5

Ringmahon Rangers 3
Crosshaven 3
Casement Celtic 2
Fermoy 2
Blarney United 2
Grattan Utd 2

Mortonville 1
Maymount Rovers 1
St. Finbarrs Celtic 1
Transport 1
Blackrock 1
Everton 1
St. Michaels (Tipp) 1
Rockmount 1
Crofton Celtic 1
Douglas Hall 1
Ballincollig 1
Wilton United 1

Brutal weather outside, not a great start for the pitches with friendlies on them.

20th of aug is the start date but i think its only the mossie linnane games, fixtures again on the tue night and then every other league starting on the 27th. So i say by going from last year where fixtures where mainly posted on the thursday night we should be seeing the first set of fixtures tonight at some stage.

Leeside C pulling out this season unfortunaley, 10 of last years squad gone from, 3 moving up country for work, 3 to different clubs, 2 retiring and 2 packing up. Tried over last few weeks to keep it going but wasnt to be. In saying this 7 moving up to our B squad and this is now extremely strong squad, so would really fancy them to pick 1 if not 2 trophies this season. Was a pleasure working with the C team last year and hopefully we will back again in the coming years.

Other teams are stronger than ye and ye won't be in a position to challenge for the league this year....I don't think ye will get relegated either ye just won't be as strong...

I wasn't winding anyone up. Just giving an opinion on what I'm seeing and hearing from clubs. Blarney street have to many new faces at one time and will find it difficult to gel. Both teams wont get relegated but won't challenge either. And with regards of squad numbers as you know it's only 11 to start and 3 subs so that means a lot of unhappy players from the 20 odd they signed to hang around especially when most of them are new and don't really understand the club to hang around

I wonder since some teams have dropped out in the last few weeks what that will do to the layout of the divisions??? On Division 3 (where Innishvilla B were to reside) I see St John Bosco's are listed for a game having been in League 3A on the list, I now see they're also down for a game in 3A so I'm wondering if that should have been Innishvilla B with the game v Hillington???

Kinsale new keeper, some young fella called Doyle, seen him a few times last year in MSL for Ballinhassig, very shakey, poor under the high ball, could be a huge risk on Kinsale league chances.

Also would like to congratulate my own club on winning the Anglers tournament we know it's only a pre season friendly tournament but to have the squad we have together from where we were at the start of training we are delighted with the win

Most teams in premier and premier A are struggling for a really good goalkeeper tho with maybe coachford and Blarney St the exception Hurley was definately the best out there with him now gone senior I'd pass the mantle on to David Cronin. Peter o Riordan out of coachford is also very very good. talking to Castleview manager tho there delighted with there new keeper they signed used play with park last year I think.

We lost 6-0 to a very good Blarney Street side. That central midfield of Paddy Mc Auliffe and the guy King are just frightening. Missing a few so it eases the pain a little!! 2 down early, we had a couple of chances before it was 3 at half time. Like all friendlies, it became a bit messy in the second half. As with the Bohs lads, a slow start to pre-season is turning around and we will be raring to go when our Northside neighbours come to visit next week. Like a referee, a goalkeeper probably gets more abuse than praise....and I wouldnt do either!! Best of luck to everyone for 2011/2012 - enjoy the football.

Well lads, nearly there to the start of another season. Looking forward to it although it will be a tough one being our first year up. Pre season has gone ok and we start with a very tough assignment away to Blarney St on sat. Played with Paddy and i agree horse he is a lovely player with great fitness levels. Had a great game down there last year. Tough group in the Mossie but it will be a great experience for our guys.
Best of luck to all for the coming season.

. see macroom beat knockavilla 5-1 lively start by them!!

This fixture was played in Macroom due to work being done in Knockavilla's pitch ??
Macroom down 1-0 at half time , Knockavilla got very tired and a much fitter Macroom side with 5 different names on the scoresheet started thier season in style.
