Yes I heard there is training out in CSN tonight at 8.15. Does anyone have the squad, apparently it's up on Nialls Facebook page. I'm sure there will be plenty of numbers for the 1st session with a lot of players trying to impress. Squad probably should have got back together a bit earlier considering they are playing in two weeks or something. Anyone know the scheduled date for the game?

Cheers Inswinger, noticed there wasn't a shock result. Would of liked to have seen a shock in this match and all Lawd :)
Are you a douglas hall man lawd. Not too may eye catching draws in the FAI most of the higher ranked teams avoiding each other, Pearse and Everton is that a derby game? Blarney Street and Leeds should have a bit of needle in it as should ballinhassig and kilumney.
Knockavilla 1-0 Leeside B (Munster Junior Cup)
Where do i start?? great performance from our B team against Knockavilla who i think if play like that week in week out could struggle in the premier this season. The goal for villa was a 2nd pen, 1st pen was long kick from villa keeper and our keeper went into back of rob walsh and took him down, fair pen. Keeper then saved the resulting pen. Its what happened then has us still asking questions, keeper saved pen and gather ball in his hands on ground, for some reason the ref then blew whistle and gave another pen for what he said was pushing between def and villa player on way in, everyone amazed even the villa players. 2nd pen scored 1-0 knockavilla. From there on to end of game it was mostly leeside and missed 3 very good opportunites which where all put wide, knockavilla had 1 good chance in 2nd half but was well saved by leeside keeper. Both teams gave as much as they got in terms of challanges, but it was leeside who came out on top the card count which was totally unfair. Ref gave us no break at all and i have no problem in saying that it was a disgrace of a performance from the referee who topped it off in the final minute sending 1 of our players, for which he called a headbut, it was no where near headbutt and the opposing players agreed with us. Our player recieved 3 punches in back before this happened and villa player didnt even get a yellow. Sorry for going on now but this ref was an utter disgrace from start to finish.
As i said earlier i think knockavilla will struggle this season on what they had last sat, does anyone know if that fella hughie donovan is gone from them or just missing.
Pearse and Everton would be a derby alright. Both Togher based and a lot of players would of played with both clubs. I think the Pearse manager is ex everton too.

Dont be sitting on the fence there Shetland, All i know is that the organising of the squad for training has been a bit of a disaster. Barry Peelo was ringing managers this monday to request players and apologising for the short notice while some players were being rang by Niall ORegan and were told to bring along any other players THEY feel might be of standard? All this 2 days before the training? Some notice to be giving guys, a lot of whom work evenings, shifts etc. Anyway, wish them the best of luck!
Interesting list all right for the AUL squad. That lad Jordan o Leary from Carrig is a class act all right but he is only playing with carrig while the LOI A championship is on a break, sure he could only be there for 1/2 games and back to Cobh then when they restart training. Interesting to see the names down from Leeside, sure 1 of them hasnt been seen down in paradise for weeks!!! Haha. Fair play scouting is going well so far !!!
Ya its monday when Barry peelo recieved squad, As someone said above its strange that manager in question is still in charge after a poor 2 year stint. He is in involved with Bandon, Manager of Cork U15 team and is it right that he also has some involvment in Ladies Soccer also. Obviously when you doing all this u leave sorting squads and trainings to the Last Min

I was out in the AUL training and fairplay to the 20 there. Short notice or whatever, the 20 worked hard in horrible conditions. A lesson to all to see these top AUL guys giving their all when many others in teams and leagues all over the county look for reasons not to go in weather like this on a CL night. Game is on 4 weeks tonight in the Cross v MSL. I declined the opportunity to pass on your good wishes Shetland!!!

horse come on you are in football a long time and this apointment is a joke .,o reagan is a bluffer and i call it as i see it.start as u mean to go on.,he has far to many eggs in his basket andfrom what ive seen and heard so far his organisation so far is a shambles.is there any body else out there to do the job . with the talent playing in the aul they should be chalenging every year. the team has gone backwards under o reagan, and im not alone in saying that.

i agree with shetland.. on the organisational front and he's got too much on his plate.. the guy is doing a good job at bandon to be fair to him. hes got the cork under 15s aswell..results over the last few years have been poor aswell. i also think players should be picked and not nominated by there clubs that just seems hes cutting corners.

Lads, I will state my corner from the off. I like Niall as a man and think he is a good manager in the 12 months since I met him. I will give opinion on any comment as a stand alone comment but just so ye know where I stand.
The AUL were glad to appoint Niall again. Im sure if they had more candidates, then they all got considered. Everyone involved was disapointed in last season - anyone who saw the semi the year before knows the better team lost.
The 20 lads tonight had no problem working with him by the looks of it anyway. A bit late on the notice, but still a month to the first game. Lets us just worry about the AUL job, what he does elsewhere shouldnt matter.
I agree with the "asking the club manager" method. What if a really good player has a crap day on the day someone is watching him? Dont pick him? Who sees the players more than their club managers?

horse the aul messed up again come on ,he had two years and failed .the aul job should be given to someone who isnt atached to any club or at least not manageing one.then you can get out and watch games and look at players.then pick what you see not what you hear. they have no chance again under his management believe me.

i agree with you about another 1 or 2 of springers being on the team but to be honest i have watched several games this year and there are better players out there than a lot of the squad that was picked this time...there are a few i have seen 2 or 3 times and to be picked to even train with the aul squad is a joke never mind getting a game...still tho its not the players fault that they were selected so we should hold no grudges against them and wish them the best of luck

Every team think they should have an average of 3 players each on it ATLEAST, then what?? have a session with a few hundred out there?? from that squad the 11 that will prob start ARE the best 11 in the AUL!! Rest of the squad admittedly looks weak in parts but thats the same with EVERY squad in football

Shetland, you are starting to sound like a child. I think we can judge Niall on this year. Nobody expects a manager to come in a win straight off, it takes time. It was a hard enough start for him 2 years ago taking over a team that had just won the tournament. Hold your comments until may next year, and let's get behind the team starting now.

dixie a child is it,cop on. this is my last time saying this.do you think in all fairness that a man who manages a muster senior league team, can do a hudered per cent job on the cork aul team.the answer is no. two years is more than enough.the aul took the easy way out. the best way forward is to advertise the position at the agm .see who is available to do it and either get clubs to vote on who they want ,or pick someone that will give it his all. does money come into it i wonder. i hope not especially with the missing 100 thousand euro.

I dont think that giving the job to someone who isnt involved in management is going to help either tho is it.Fair enough their are good ex managers around but do you think they would want to manage a team made up of players from various clubs that they wouldnt even know. I doubt it

There should be 3 or 4 more Springfield players on that team to be fair, their strongest back 4 could all argue they should start on that team. Fair play to Emmet though.
There is no doubt that Cobh have a quality side & I expect them to get promoted this year but the simple facts are that Springers are a Premier A side. The most ye were going to get on the team was 2 so I wouldn't feel too hard done by. Don't think I am saying for 1 minute that yer players are not good enough. There are players down there that should be playing at a higher level but you can say that about all the top teams.

Look lets be fair here. Leeside had 6 players on the team last year so you can't say Leeside don't get a fair look in. Actually ye had 7 so you can't moan about it. At the end of the day ye finished 3rd when people thought ye would seriously challenge. Condon has left & so has Colin Keane so to get 3 called up isn't really that much of shock. Wilton have 6 & are in the same position as ye last year where people think they are the favourites plus the fact they signed Keith Holden, Alan Healy & Jason Keegan so are things really that unfair?

Look I agree with people who say that the manager shouldn't be involved with another team especially a team not in the AUL. The manager should IMO been unattached so he can attend as many games as possible but it's not the case so what can we do? There was obviously not a lot of interest in the position even though every year posters on here say to each other to put their names forward, yet they don't. Then everyone goes mad when Niall is given the job. From what I have heard of him, either by speaking to players or other coaches he is a very good coach & passionate about the game. This is obvious by the amount of teams he is involved with. At the end of the day the 11 that represent the AUL team in the cross will be strong & should be too strong for the MSL Jun side. By saying that, they are by no means as strong as what Limerick or Dublin are going to be. I think it's actually a good thing that they play Tipp away because there's no pressure on them. Everyone will expect them to be beaten anyway so for me it will benefit the team. When they played Tipp last year & lost everyone was so quick to come on this & slag them off when, if you were at the game would admit the AUL should have went it at half time winning. So let’s have our opinions without rubbishing players etc & support them. Plus I'm sure there will be a lot of players come & go on this squad over the next few weeks before the game. As for Niall, instead of saying this & that about him on here about players who are good enough, I suggest ringing him & suggesting a player for him to look at. From what I heard he would be happy to let him train if you feel that strongly about the player.

Be it Niall O Reagen or whoever is helping him out this year they should get to more games and especially outside of Premier starting this weekend with Casement and Douglas Hall. With Casement Seniors folding this year there will be no fewer then 7 players who would be still playing Senior First Division had the Club got its act together. Even if 1 player was good enough (which there is and more) then it was a worthwhile trip out. I bet if the 7 players im talking about went to Wilton Kinsale etc etc then there would be at least 5 of them on it....

Take off your blinkers there Southsider. So 7 players played msl 1st division last year? Does that make them fantastic players? I'm sure any of the top players in the AUL prem would easily play MSL prem. A lot of the top players have been asked or have made the switch to Msl or vice versa. Look at Condon, went from Leeside to Rockmount (the champions of the MSL prem) so what your saying is rubbish. There is ex MSL 1 & 2 players in all AUL divisions, should they all be called up? I have no doubt that there are good players playing with your team but at the end of the day you have got to be realistic & understand, the majority of the AUL team will come from the top 2 leagues because they are playing at the highest standard in AUL but I'm sure if these players perform consistently then they will be recognised as were the Corkbeg lads last year.

Look at Condon, went from Leeside to Rockmount (the champions of the MSL prem) so what your saying is rubbish. There is ex MSL 1 & 2 players in all AUL divisions, should they all be called up? I have no doubt that there are good players playing with your team but at the end of the day you have got to be realistic & understand, the majority of the AUL team will come from the top 2 leagues because they are playing at the highest standard in AUL but I'm sure if these players perform consistently then they will be recognised as were the Corkbeg lads last year.
inishvilla lads were on the squad last year when they romped division 2 last year. heard a rumour tonight that 1 of them is on his way to bandon. now that would cause some controversey. anyway niall is the manager this year so just lets row in behind him. even if we dont agree with the selection process etc etc.....

Exactly, that's why I mentioned the Corkbeg lads. Sure Jack Walsh remained on the squad only for injury, that's why I said if players are playing well on a weekly basis then word of mouth will spread & they will get their chance. How strong is the rumour?
