yes jimmy hynes is certainly a better player, by far the best striker town has seen in years, since aaron moroney was fit and firing. dont think town will be able to hold onto him

Tony Scully was a brilliant striker for Town in the 6 in a row period with Paul anchoring the midfield and outscored Aoran every season, regularly hitting 25 goals and winning tsdl player of the yr awards like they were going out of fashion and then Barry Ryan signed after winning same award and continued to be top scorer every season at Town and now with him being injured this year Hynes has stepped in and banged in the goals, for a position thats hard to fill they always seem to have a striker although i must say Pa Quinn has hugely impressed me for Saints scoring in all the big games for the last couple of years, huge credit to Johnny Cremins he has turned him into a great player

Dave McGrath is in college in Limerick at the moment so it wouldn't be much of a journey for him to play with Fairview. He's not cup tied for the MJC either. I'd say they'll sort him out with with a new pair of boots and a few ham sandwiches. I said they will yeah

Have to agree stelling, jimmy hynes is class i can only imagine what he would do in a really good team, the thing that i dont understand with Town is why they have moved jimmy out to a wide position and play mcgrath up as a lone striker its crazy in anyones eyes.Mcgrath needs about 10 chances to score and to be fair with his pace he could be more effective on the wing where as hynes looks like he will score every time hes in the box,i honestly cant see Hynes staying with Town next season as ive heard he stated hel be off at the end of the year and who could blame him.Its common knowledge that the manager rates Mcgrath as a better player than Hynes absolute craziness to say the least.

was at tipp town game yesterday and what a game it had everything but the one thing that stood out was the quality of the ref jim walshe (chalkeys father) blatent hand ball on the line from a corner(no penalty) clash of heads where one player was busted open (and had to be subbed) play on he said. tipp won 4-3 in the end nice to see a big crowd as well for a 3rd division game around 70 -80 there.

It seems goalkeeper Evan Comerford is the only bright spot for town this year. He was recently called up to the Irish School's team. Surely has to be considered the best keeper in Tipperary at the moment and he's only after turning 18.

It's funny that cause when teams lost two or three players to town over the years it's cause those players were ambitious but when players leave Clonmel Town they are rats? Swings and roundabouts if ya ask me, if town are willing to take players then don't moan when they leave. It's how every other club works.

most other clubs in tsdl deal with these type of crisis's every other season but the fact that its a club of towns status enduring this type of scenario has shocked alot of us on here. At the end of the day this season is going to be over for them in a month or 2, so they have till august then again to get there house in proper order for next season thats the real test.

having not posted on here in a while just want to congratulate saints, celtic and peake on great wins in fai last weekend. Also to bansha who done themselves and division 1 proud up in dublin. Not getting the result on the day but seemingly putting in good performance and will be boosted that moyglass and oldbridge dropped points in the league while they were away.

On to this weekend . Any predictions for sunday? fancy celtic but will take huge effort to beat saints. Is Richie ryan fit for this one . Have celtic any injuries or suspensions coming into this one Bishbash

Best of luck to Cahir Park in this, there on decent side of the draw at least so hopefully will progress. Clonmel Town must be very dissapointed to be knocked out of this last week they have very strong side and i fancied them to win it this year with no Cork City FC side involved in this seasons competition

Fully agree with you Balls. Couldn't believe they were beaten last week. I think this was an excellent Clonmel Town youths team. How many of the successful Tipperary minor footballers were on the team? It looked a walk in the park for them right through the competition. Either Avenue have a very exceptional team or Town completely flopped on the day. Surely the junior demise hasn't rubbed off on the youths. Cahir in with a fighting chance and best of luck to them. It worries me Cahir are using so many youths in the junior team. Remember Cahir are also going well in the under 17 competition. Players involved in all teams run the risk of burn-out and injury so lets hope Cahir watch this.

if the 17s and 18s play on the same weekends you have a point but if they dont then young lads should be able to play 2 game a weekend no problem without suffering from burn out

Why? because he alerted the referee to the fact that the ball had spun out of play, onto the bar and back to the feet of Jimmy Carr. I would imagine he had a much better view that where most of the Michaels supporters were situated. Get over it.

No offence, we have no problem "getting over" losing but the standard of referee yesterday along with the two linesmen was nothing short of shameful. Today is a new day and we move on from that defeat...we have plenty left to play for. Back to yesterday's game, how can the ball "be out of play" if it hit the cross bar and went back on to Jimmy's foot, what is wrong when a goal is scored like that? Answer - goal should have stood - having said that, the score line of 3.1 does not in any way reflect what the game was actually like. Saints should have put this game to bed during the 1st half, celtic came out the more hungrier in the 2nd half. Having two goals disallowed (the 2nd goal a bit more questionable!) but nothing whatsoever wrong with the 1st goal in my view, Celtic's 3rd goal was clearly off side, everyone apart from the linesman on the far side could see that, Saints back 4 pulled up - as we all waited for, the linesman to put up the flag but no.. he didnt, having said that, Celtic were knocking on the door of beating the Saints for a long time and got their day yesterday - good luck against Pike, a great draw to get at home, having said that, 6 Teams left from Limerick in draw, that is fierce strong representation in MJ Cup - No. 8 who got straight red will be a huge loss to ye on that day.

First of all I won't go down the 'standard of referee's' road as we could be here all day. Suffice to say that every team is subject to a bad decision at some stage.

Without getting into the physics of it, my understanding is that the ball had spun out of play from the original cross/shot and clipped the bar on the way back in. Granted it was a huge call and I'm sure if it had been the other way round we would have been livid. I think ye would have gone on to win it if that goal stood as I'm not too sure whether a 10 man Celtic would have recovered after letting a 2 goal lead slip.

As for Saints putting the game to bed in the first half, not too sure about that unless you can highlight the numerous chances ye created in the first half. The only save that Kieran Kendrick made was on the stroke of half time from Breen's header. Ye weren't exactly peppering the Celtic goal with shots in the first half. Most of the Michaels supporters would have been in a good position to view Shanahan's goal. If it was offside I don't know how the linesman missed it as he was nearly standing beside him.

Anyway appreciate the good wishes for our game against Pike. Ye have one hell of a challenge in the FAI. I have a feeling you may have to settle for the local double and I don't mean any disrespect when I say that.

well done to clonmel celtic on their victory yesterday a great day for their club. i would agree with saintsfan that saints should have went in a couple of goals up at half time as they were far superior however celtic turned the tide in the 2nd half. the 2 disallowed goals were an absolute disgrace 1st one was just a pure robbery from a bias linesman the celtic goalkeeper was at the edge of his 6yd box when the ball got lobbed back over him and onto the crossbar, the 2nd goal was at least a yard over the line when the keeper pulled it back ( the reaction from the keeper told the story) but none of this is clonmel celtic's fault. as a regular visitor to lots of games in the tsdl involving all clubs 'not just saints' i have to say there is a definate hate campaign from 95% of the referees towards st michaels this is simply not good enough. the tsdl bigwigs need to start sending referee's assesor's to games to outlaw these cheats.

Pearso, I am assuming the referee had no choice but to go along with the linesman's decision for the simply reason that the linesman was in a better position to judge on both occasions. Likewise I am also assuming that the linesman was in better position than you, republican, sanitsfan and me to make those 2 calls. So basically there are 3 alternatives:

1) He got both decisions right,
2) Like players do every week he made one or maybe two human errors or
3) As republican suggests he's a cheat who doesn't like St Michaels,

Whatever about the first two I would just hate to think its the 3rd option.

roberto i think it is unfair to keep talking about this as it it taking the gloss off what was a faboulous result for celtic and dont forget it would still only have made the game 2 2 at the time no guarantee saints would have went on to win. saints need to ask how were they 2 down in the 1st place and regroup before a now must win game in sheriff. on my claims about the referee's hating st michaels this is a fact all anyone has to do is go watch a ref doing a game not involving saints in the morning and then watch the same ref do a saints game in the afternoon and you will see the difference. as i said earlier 95% are total cheats.

I thought the view in the tsdl is that all the refs were biased in favour of saint michaels and that 95% of clubs agreed with that.
