kneebandage the over 33s is a great idea and is very successful up in cork too its a great way of keeping older lads involved with the club after they finish up playing junior football. would be great if the tsdl brought it in for a trial period as a 5th division for example or maybe play it during summer. prob best starting it small with five or 6 teams and then if its a success watch it expand with more teams.
another idea of getting it started could be to play maybe a 7 a side league on thurs or friday nights on astro during the winter. alot of the clubs with there own astro turf pitches within the tsdl could host home fixtures eg saints, town, borris, celtic, peake, galbally, cahir all have astro pitches within there facilities. other clubs interested could rent an astro pitch in say cahir ,tipp, clonmel for example which ever is closest to club and play out of there. would be great for the older lads to still play competitive football and im sure would be great crack for all involved too

Massive game in Cooke Park tomorrow night, very early days of course but this will be a very stern examination of Celtics title credentials,a win or even a point and they would be very much on track, will be a fascinating contest

i was at the peter o rielly cup final in 2010 and john dwyer was linesman and he made an ass of him self .he had a running battle with both managers because if they put a foot outside the technical area he was flagging the ref who had to come over and tell him to calm down ..dont like bad mouthing ref but i had him reffin games ive played in and they always end up with him being the centre of things ..

I was also at that game and the technical area was very small and john was walking up and down the line acting the micky.

It's great for once to see everyone of the one opinion on a matter and i guess that just goes to show the carry on of the guy in question is not just a one club vendetta,he is just not up to the job and then his personality just makes things 10 times worse,as i said yesterday he is going to be at the centre of a very serious incident soon and maybe it is time we all made an attempt to act,im not sure how though?

Ya it a tough one to act on but surely there is some way of doing it because god forbid he gets a very big game.He has the potential of causing some serious trouble.

If a club feels they should report a ref all they need to do is write to the TSDL outlining their concern and while one complaint may not be acted upon I would think numerous complaints should get a reaction. This I believe is the only avenue open to clubs. Remember if you put it in writing and down the road something else occurs involving the same official your case would be stronger.

yeah thats what i thought maybe start with 5 or 6 teams, which i think they could easily get and see how it goes, the waterford league has expanded again this year with 4 new teams involved the thing is when people think over 33s they think ''the auld lads''but there are plenty of over 33s playing for the top premier teams in waterford and tipp, but others for various reasons work, injury, family, etc cant committ to that level and have no interest running after fellas half their age in Div 1,2,3,4 but still want to play ball this is why i think they should give it a try in the TSDL.

bishbash, do scathing public comments like that do anyone any favours or improve relations between clubs? does jim mickey power do the website reports? he should be told to cool it

The next time I see him I'll tell him and I'm sure he'll take your comments on board :D. Actually your anti Celtic rants are becoming very tedious and only serve to portray you as a very sad individual. Just concentrate on your own club whoever that is.

How can you comment on the Town pitch when you weren't even there. 'Scathing public comments' you're some man for the drama. Some very sensitive people on this board. Chillax

Hi guys
Was at the saints/Celtic match tonight enjoyable maybe not best quality lots of mistakes from both teams and also the ref . From a saints point of view delighted with 3 points considering our short Pre season and certainly not a 1st choice 11 but we showed a grt will to win and work ethic was good despite the sharpness / fitness not there yet , what did Celtic boys think ye were missing a few too ?

Not too sure our missing players would have made a huge difference though a bit more muscle up front in the form of Paul Shanahan or Brian Waters (from the start) may have made a difference. I think Michaels were missing a few anyway. I thought the sending off was a bit of a turning point although Michaels were already beginning to exert some pressure a that stage. It would have been interesting to see if Celtic could hold out as I felt they could rally again near the end which they did (to an extent). When Michaels did get on top in that period in the second half they did look decent but their finishing wasn't the best. I think your solid defence will be your strong point again this year. However early days yet and I think Celtic are capable of reversing that result in Clonmel.

i had previously tipped saint nicholas to win division 1 but after the bridge gave them a trimming last weekend in shield think i have changed my mind. top 2 will be one off bridge, nicks, moyglass. other teams who will be decent pending the start they make will be glengoole and ballingarry. the rest will be battling to stay up. agree with cullen lattin in div 2 davy ryan is still top class plus ex saint michaels youth players in james power and alan hayes. rosegreen should be handy though if they have there experienced players who played premier with the club still involved. in division 3 on paper tipp town fc should walk it but ballypatrick should be strong again and dundrum are a good side. in div 4 ill go dualla or donohill but fancy kilbeheny celtic to go well this year after relegation last season from division 3

fairdecision
25/08/2011, 1:27 PM
I think the first will be between Old Bridge and Moyglass. I think all the controversy around nicks last year could make it hard for them to pick themselves up. You have to fancy Cullen latin for the second. Tipp town probably favourites in the 3rd but Borris B will give them a run for it. And Dualla for the 4th.

saints to win premier at there ease. if only 1 team going down it will be wildies. will make for a boring league really much better if 2 teams face relegation

very entertaining game last night and a very good performance from saints considering it was their first real competitive game of season as delaney cup is only friendly competition. they should have scored a few more goals but i think celtic will be serious contenders for the league and if they could keep winning it could indeed come down to a title decider in celtic park come end of season but very early yet i know i just think these 2 teams will dominate the rest.

Ya i fully agree Mega Tots a lot of people seem to be writing town off too early. Long way to go looks like town and saints will get stronger as the season goes on(both missing few starters at the mo). My money wud be on Saints tho the hurt from final game last season bound to drive them on.

Lads silly talk about saints/ Celtic to dominate very early in season teams not upto full strength you write off town at your peril remember last season supposed to be worst town team ever yet won league , as for relagation I think anyone of the remainder could go down yes i think it's that close . It will be very interesting even though only one goin down ( I still can't believe tsdl let St nicks get away with goin up ) but that s for another topic

First game of league this weekend for Div 1 lads, Old Bridge away to Glengoole should be good game. Good win for Bridge last weekend vs Nicholas. Bridge have gotten a few players in bit of experience and youth and training been going well, hope for a good season ahead.

Lads, if any other club is interested in starting an over 33's league please contact Pat on 0876318100 or contact him through Saintsfans Tipperary facebook page.
Looks like there is a lot of interest in the over weight sorry i mean over 33's league in Tipp Town!

West Hammer
27/08/2011, 7:16 PM
Any over 33 league would have to be sanctioned by TSDL and FAI and Pitches could be the problem as TSDL would not stand for Junior football games being called off because the over 33's wrecked a pitch in January.
Great idea but a lot to be sorted out even to get it going next season.

Nothing to do with TSDL this will be run privately all matches will be played on astro turf. If you check out the Saintsfans Tipperary Facebook page it will be explained there.
