Yeah tbf I'm pretty ignorant re: free admission and kids as I am not a cross regular (but will be) - I guessed under 8/10's might get in free with adults or something. In the shed alone there were loads of kids in, which is great to see as some of those will be future season ticket holders.

For the record, there was a massive 13 of us at the game. I blame the last one of the 13 to come in the gate for the result. Unlucky number and all.......
When our 2nd went in after only a few minutes all I could do was gaze at the away end in sympathy. It must be horrible to travel that distance to watch that. The worst thing about the result is that Harps came to play football. The result almost tells teams to come to Turners Cross and park the bus, which inevitably will happen with every other team that comes down!

I was doing the Harps radio for it, trying to find something to say that wasn't going to get me into bother was tough. I'm positive people could hear us crying.

From the Irish Times -

Galway v Derry 893 (as per here I think)
Bray v Drogheda 800
Pats v UCD 994
Bohs v Rovers 3100
Dundalk v Sligo 1600

Also remember though that there is still a terraced area at the back (behind the seats) for standing, and a lot of people do still stand up there.

I love it when loi supporters argue over attendances in the league, gives me a laugh!

With the new seats in united park, it a bit misleading for away supporters in guessing how manys at the match! Most people are still standing on the terrace, behind the seats.

Saw the second half against derry from the derry end a couple of weeks ago, and it looked alot less than it actually looked when i was in the home terrace!

Like the warrior I have bene pleasantly surprised with the attendances so far! But I do think they're going to start going down now with us being so sh*te!! Hopefully we can get a result on friday to lift the spirits of everyone!!

The crowd in flancare was at least half the athlone game.. I hazard a guess at 300!

About 500 in Finn Park tonight. Not too bad considering that it's probably one of our worst ever starts to a season. A good travelling support of about 30 or 40 from Longford too.

I had a quick count when one of their lads was down injured, there were at least 100 on the Dargle side of the press box, and probably the same number on the bowling alley end. Plus a couple who sat in the tent.

I would've said about 800 over all.

That far stand always makes crowds look smaller, people tend to spread out. Like I said, I counted 100 people on the far side, and I only got to about half way along the crowd. And there were definitely Galway fans in the tent.

the only Galway fans in the tent were 3 Injured & Suspended players.Shocking crowd for a team with a chance of going top no more than 900.

Decent crowd in Drogs last night, maybe 1,300 ? I could see the point Windmill made a few weeks back, a lot of drogs fans do stand behind the seating in the home side section. I would say the away crowd last night was similar to what Rovers took, maybe a little less but a good atmosphere at the match all the same. I cant believe Drogs allow hundreds of away fans exit like like, all walking over their lovely pitch, I`m sure the groundsman would be delighted too see that.

Certainly not as many as Rovers, tho it was close to 500. Another 300 or so in the stand and clubhouse. 600 or 700 on the other terrace. So maybe closer to 1,500 overall

I'm not a Sligo fan but I was trawling through a few websites and their official website gives it as 2250 in the match report. That may be a match report replicated from elsewhere? Either way a figure quoted on the official website is fair enough as being official in my book. Great noise from the Bohs fans by the way - could have done without the flying adidas samba though!

I thought it was bigger than 2250,
based on the fact there were 2,200 at the Setanta game v shams
and 2,450 v pats.
It seemed to be a bigger crowd than both of those on Friday night.

This isn't the first time I've noticed this.

Why are the away fans constantly trying to say there was less people there. I honestly don't get it. As if it's a huge competition having the highest average attendance. Everyone should be working together and congratulating people on decent attendances and sharing ideas on why it's working and why it's not. Instead I see a lot of people being petty and trying to drag down other club's attendances.

LOI is not in competition with other clubs in the main part for attendances. It's the EPL and european football on tv that's giving people their football fix instead.

By the way I'm a GUFC supporter, not a Bray man in case you're questioning my bias.

In the last 10 years i can only remember once galway bringing something like that figure to the showgrounds and that was for a cup quarter-final where they brought something like a thousand. For a regular league game its usually something like 50 or maybe pushing 100 the odd occasion. Now im not knocking galway or their suppott just want to point out for the arguments on this thread that if thats all they bring for their 'derby' its highly unlikely that they brought 250 to bray on a friday nite when not going particulary well.

I remember we brought a good 200/300 towards the climax of the 2008 season up there, and there was about 100 or so on the other two times I've been to the Showgrounds.

There has only been a few times in past ten years where Galway have brought more then 150 you could count it on one hand. Most times its around 50 to 80. Considering some Galway fans seem to have a hard on for 'hating' Sligo Rovers its a really poor showing. But I think in general Galway have never been big travellers, there has been the odd occasion alright but every club gets that now and again.

Ya you probably did ,I just dont remember it and it backs up my argument as that seems to have happened once in last 10 years. Again im not trying to get into an argument but was just using it as a point where you would expect your biggest away support would probably be against us therby proving the point that there wasnt 250 in Bray the other night.(which also seems to be the general consensus among your fans)

Extratime.ie also estimates as follows -

Athlone v Harps (midweek) - 100
Athlone v Mervue - 250

And nothing for Derry v Pat's or any of the Monaghan home games. Do they sound about right?

So that'd make it after round 8 -

ours was high early on because of a huge 4401 turnout for our first home game.

we've been much steadier this season, floating around the same numbers, im sure it will drop off in the summer months but hopefully with a title challenge it can pick up again in the autumn

6000 tickets giving out for a i 105 party out in the dog track so think this would be the main reason for Dundalks poor attendance last night. Another factor would be that we are playing Rovers Monday night and people may be able to afford to attend one of these games. Also no disrespect to Bray fans but this game isn't exactly a crowd puller.

Anymore excuses there lads?!! (and yes, I know our crowds have virtually disappeared). Worst away crowd we've ever had in Inchicore last night as well I'd say. Don't know what the crowd would have been last night overall, but not much over 1,000 i'd say

Your crowds have been down all year though haven't they - home and away. And everyone knows there is definitely not that much going on in Dundalk every week!! Novelty of being back in the premier finally wearing off?

Crowds have been down, with alot of factors involved and youl only call them excuses. FFS i105 give out some amount of free tix to the horse racing which did affect the crowd against the almighty Bray which is never a crowd puller. Il enjoy the novelty of seeing your boogey bus heading to the FD and see how many heads stick around for it, then you can come back and lecture on crowds.

Your 100% right Dunny,i105 gave away 5000 FREE tix to a gig AT A VENUE that is just two miles from Oriel Park and also had a 75 miniute earlier starting time than the KO in Oriel park ! If WW cant see that that factor might have affected the attendance at the match then he is simply on the wind-up
