Say the new stand was 2/3 full, that means only ~600 people were needed in the rest of the ground for the official figure to be right. With Sligo bringing ~400, that seems about right.
More than 400 id say chief, between in our section and other Rovers fans scattered throughout the ground id say between 500-600.
To be honest I think its a bit premature for Galway to be shouting from the rooftops about attendances after that one game.
Between a 1/4 and 1/3 were Rovers fans and Galway fans seem alot more likely to come out against us because of the "derby" tag than the likes of Bray, UCD, Drogs etc.
But at least its moving in the right direction its just ive seen enough false dawns about Galway having turned a corner with regaurds crowds to take this one game with a pinch of salt.

We have played 3 games over 1,500 against Pats, over 1,000 against UCD and 1,800 against Sligo. Our aim for the season is to average 1,500 and if we make that we will be happy.

Ask Stu, first games of the season are not accurate indications of what average attendances will be at the end of the season.
In my opinion you dont have a hope of averaging 1500 come the end of the season if that is your starting attendances.

Don't see any of us shouting from the rooftops as you say tbh. We're only justifying the crowd from the last night, as some others seem to be doubting the reliablitiy of it. Yes its an improvement on last year, but there's still a long way to go before these crowds can be sustained.

Rasputin, Sligo brought an excellent team, the class of ndo and a fantastic crowd as big as shams or bohs last season. A lot of Sligo fans expressed very favourable opinion on the GUFC pricing and the Kids free entry, they appreciated and said so. GUFC are light years from being anywhere near right. We are crawling out of a huge whole it will be 3 years before we will achieve real progress. And a lot of our own fans underestimate the competition on our doorstep. Surviving the next 6 weeks is all most of us are concentrating on. Sligo supporters helped us a lot on friday night, thanks

Fair enough, I wasnt having a go, I did say yee were moving in the right direction.
I still cant see yee averaging 1500 come the end of the season if yee are averaging that now, because like with every club they will dip significantly as the season progress's due to various factors.
Also it was good not having to fork out silly money for the game, cheaper ticket prices are the way to go.
While the FAI seem to be obsessed with the Premiership model, I feel that the German model is far more sustainable and part of that is cheap ticket prices.

IN fairness, when he's talkinga bout going with a 7 year old, the overall 'package' (for wnat of a less pukey word) is important. I've paid €20 into Terryland, and €15 into plenty of open terraces with crap views and no loos/shops etc etc. I'm happy to do it
But if I was looking after a 7 year old, comfort, price and view of the game would come into it.

I heard the reason why Derry let away fans through the main gate and not the turnstiles is that the numbers won't show up on the turnstiles counter because health and safety have reduced the capacity of the main stand. Any truth in this? Or why weren't we brought through the stiles a few weeks back?

I think the main reason was to get everyone in as quick as possible due to crowd congestion outside the ground. The club asked the ref to delay Kick off against sligo but was denied

As Brendy said you could have bought tickets on ticketmaster as when 500+ away fans turn up within a half hour of KO then their is bound to be a delay in gaining entry to the ground.
It also didn't help that a lot of Derry fans didn't buy tickets in the normal outlets in the city before hand.

Don't know if that is correct but I have been told it was 1,829. Massive drop although very little away fans and maybe as we hadn't scored at home and the game being live on tv then hopefully we'll get an extra 500+ for the Pats game in a fortnight.

Drogs v Rovers last week - 1,900
Irish Times reported 1,200 for this game. I find their figures are usually spot on every week, they also carry a figure for all games. Talking to one mate today who was on the Rovers side at this game, he said 'def over a 1,000 at the game, but the drogs side looked to have around 500.
Thats every game so far you are way out WW and you have only played 3, what is the point posting incorrect information, it only serves to give an overall misleading figure. As did your overall figure of 900 last year. There were multiple games reported by LMFM/Drogheda Indo towards the end of the season where 500-600 was the avg.
