2011 in Tolka

Not the one I was in a couple of weeks ago it's not. Shame. Used to be a lovely little stadium

Tolka does have a 1960s feel to it. It has a faded beauty kinda like a still - hot, ex-Bond girl. Compared to, say, the gap toothed wizened brasser that is Dalymount.

850 reported on dfc.com for the UCD game last night, seems to be an estimated attendance as I dont think all season tickets were accounted for, looked closer to 1,000 but certainly no more than that.

Surely that was a washed up humped-back pygmy sperm whale?

Much lower attendance at the RSC on Friday night than when I was at the same fixture there last year. Would think it was somewhere around 475-500. 40-50 from Wexford.

The Galway support were also a credit to their club despite being hammered nobody left early, those who were there were bitter enders and I can pay no greater compliment than that, best ground but worst location of any loi club
excellent stewards too.

I'd go nearer the 1,000 for the game last Friday. Poor showing from our side.

I know that mate. 500+ away terrace, 400 stand and clubhouse. The other 400 or so on the home side. Pathetic it be. The team deserve so much more. They've played brilliantly the past 7 weeks

...conveniently forgetting Salthill and Wexford, both of whom barely have a whiff of civilisation anywhere near them.
Terryland is a great stadium and it's in no means in a bad location. It may be a bit out of the city centre, but its still in a good spot.

Tallaght is a dreary canyon I will never love it, haven't been to the cross for years I was never mad keen for it, Terryland is lovely and compact great atmposhere, then again I have hunky dory and Inchicore second and third.

How many was at the match all together including the Flora Tallinn fans?

Thats a great crowd for Limerick but I'd say a lot went away disappointed after the result.

Shels I'd imagine would be awfully disappointed with their crowds this season. Practically running away with the league and still fairly paltry attendances by their standard.

They SWARMED for the exits after the second goal. If we keep half that crowd for the Salthill game we'll be doing very well. Happens every time we've had a crowd the last season or two... :(

I wasn't able to get to the game myself but ForzaForth (http://foot.ie/threads/154352-Finn-Harps?p=1511338&viewfull=1#post1511338) reckoned there was 250 at it. I would usually agree with his estimates

No wum intended but would that Derry estimate (if correct) for last night be considered on the low side considering the club could have gone top of the league? Still a decent number btw but I'd have thought a crowd of 3,000+ considering their fans hav'nt got European games to save for, etc. Interesting to see how many are at the top of the table clash at Sligo tonight considering both sets of hardcore fans within both clubs will have Europe on their minds. That being said I appreciate people have bigger priorities for any spare cash with kids, holidays, etc.

I don't have the official figure for last nights game yet but seemed to be slightly higher than the shams game two weeks ago, probably due to it being a nice night, the freebies from the Foyle cup teams and the chance to go top. On the down side it was the start of the un-official Derry holiday fortnight.

Pity it was a **** poor game.

Crowd looked about 3,000 last night in Showgrounds. Extratime.ie has 2,750 so that's probably an official figure. Around 100-150 from Pats.

In addition to Candystripe's points, I know quite a few people who'd usually go to a game but were heading over to Draperstown to get their tents up early (and what not) at the Glasgowbury music festival.

It is when you consider they have a virtually zero away support. Rovers had an average of 1,100 when they were in the First, what would they be getting if they were stuck in it for as long as we have and they have sooper dooper support, or so they say. Some of the attendances have been a let down though when you consider how well we're doing, so next season I fear they may not be all that bigger than this seasons. The FAI has damaged us as a club no end.

I wasn't at the Mervue v Blues game, but it was generally agreed there were in the region of 130 there. Official attendance was called out as 325 to guffaws of laughter. One of the lads says he asked an official after the game where the other 200 were and he just joked back "ah you haven't seen our corporate boxes!"

Same as when we played down there in the league. They gave an attendance of about 250 or something, I recall Harps fans as good as outnumbering the home support when there was about 50 of us there.

I have to agree, at the start there was hardly 70 in the ground. I passed through the adjacent gaa pitch before the match on way to game and there was 2 training sessions and a full gaa match on. I was amazed at the amount of lads who i would normally associate with the nearby soccer clubs training with St James. Some of these obviously arrived over around half time but i would say it was 225 tops at that game

Fair play, thats a great crowd and the players certainly didn't let them down. Hopefully some day soon we can see crowds like that in the Markets Field.
