Galway face Green fight

GALWAY UNITED face a battle to hold on to their star forward Aaron Green.

The teenager only broke into the first team at Terryland Park midway through the season but he made a big impression, scoring five goals as Galway managed to avoid relegation.

Premier Division sides Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers are reportedly keen on the Dubliner but there is interest from the Britain too, with Peterborough United and Dundee United eager to take Green on trial.

Hopefully ye hold on to Green. Galway is probably the best place he will develop his talents with likely first tesm football. He has the potential to be the next best thing to Jay O Shea for ye since he left.

I don't think a move across channel for him would serve much purpose alright, because he went from a nobody on the LOI scene to a good striker in 3 months.

He is from Dublin originally, so I would not be surprised if he did move back closer to home

I doubt they'd play him much though, if he stays with us he'll have a good lot of game time.

I agree with ya, I'm just saying that he may opt for Dublin for money reasons, although if he wants to continue his steady development I think he should stay (then again I would say that!)

I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to go to Bohs and sit on the bench if he's on bigger money, at the end of the day money is nearly more important than actually playing, e.g. Dimitar Berbatov.

Jaysus, some here get very tetchy about rumours around their club

Calm down lads. There are tons of rumours floating about. Believe what you want, and don't be asking for sources. If people have sources, they'll post them.

Rovers set to lose Murphy to Bohs

Friday November 27 2009

SHAMROCK ROVERS boss Michael O'Neill expects to lose highly-rated goalkeeper Barry Murphy after he failed to agree a new contract with the Hoops, and Murphy is now in line for a switch to rivals Bohemians.

Murphy is the longest-serving player at Rovers, having made his debut in May 2005, and he established himself as one of the best young keepers in the league. But Murphy lost his place in the team to Northern Ireland international Alan Mannus midway through the season and is now set to leave.

"He was offered an improved, two-year contract in July which is in line with the club's wage structure for senior players," said O'Neill. "However, he refused to commit himself to the club. I can only assume he is pursuing other options."

O'Neill was this week working on his squad for next season, with the signing of Drogheda's ex-U21 cap James Chambers. Simon Madden, Darragh Maguire, Shane Robinson and Corey Tracey have been released by the Hoops.

any time I watched the Jackie Fullerton show at Saturday 5pm on BBC1 Rogers looked a complete mess in that already awful Lisburn defence

Despite that I'm sure he would still be good enough to make the bench at Athlone or Longford

Heard that Dave Rogers will be joining Limerick as player/assistant manager

Nice to see Giller back in work although I believe he deserves to be more than a No.2 to Keely

Dude, I think a foot.ie 11 would do a far greater job than Lisburn in that league up there! No offence to any Northern lads on here.

I assume you are on about the midfield in 1999-00. Top of my head I wouldnt remember all the names but I know Stephen Kelly,Vinny Perth,Stephen Gavin and Paul Perth would have being the midfielders at the time.. If I am wrong please correct me!:)
