Purely on the basis that they signed Turner on more than the other Rovers were willing to offer him to be honest, that and the fact they've allegedly been talking to Ndo too, who won't come cheap. Obviously if Peers, Cretaro, Boco and Co. leave it'll free up wages for Sligo but they seem to be starting off by splashing the cash, which, for now at least, makes them one of that elite group.
Do you know that for certain and if so what is your source?
I've been posting on here for a long time and my information is generally very reliable. There's a lot of stuff I'd love to post on here that I wouldn't out of respect for my source and I certainly won't be revealing any names.
This is a rumours thread so I don't think I need to either. Maybe I need to put more allegedly's in my posts :)
As far as the Turner deal went, i think Chris just wanted security. Shams probably weren't able to offer him a contract just now, and with his partner having a baby next month, he wanted the security of regular income. If i was'nt a Sligo Rovers fan, and had the choice of Sligo or Shams, i probably would have picked Shams. But with the situation Chris finds himself in, he needs financial security.
On Ndo, i think he's a fanstastic footballer but is probably a bit too old to perform week in, week out now. I'd take him if he wasn't on big money, but if he was looking for €600+ i'd tell him where to go.
I have a feeling Peers and Boco might stay, Raf is in world of his own and thinks he's Pele, so best of luck to him wherever he goes.
I don't think Rovers(Sligo) will be splashing the cash this year or next though.
Sligo are full time and pay their players over 52 weeks where as Shamrock Rovers only pay their players for 42 weeks, so if Turner was in need of income in the short term then Sligo certainly made more sense for him, seeing as he wouldn't be paid until January/February by Shamrock Rovers.
can you tell me who we have signed on big money this off season and how much we are paying them? Thanks.
See, last i heard is that we will be dropping our budget significantly, have released a number of high earners, have resigned some current players on smaller contracts and havent actually signed ANY new players so far. The one player we were linked with actually refused to join us as we wouldnt pay what he was looking for.
So i just want to know what it is you have heard. Thanks.
Key points bolded below, it's speculation to an extent, I believe Shelley has been offered a 3 year deal on more than he's on at the moment (I've also heard they're hoping he'll sign it and then the two English clubs interested will have to pay a transfer fee), they've also offered more money than Rovers to players both clubs are interested in, or so I'm told. Signings will start to become public soon. I realise Bohs have released Crowe and Ndo so that frees up budget, so I'm not having a go or anything, I just don't think they'll be cutting back significantly and players see to be aware of this.
I'd say O'Neill has no choice but to look to Scotland. He's releasing a lot of players, a few I was surprised at, and players like Turner have already turned them down because O'Neill refuses to budge from the wage structure and budget that's been set. The only way he'll be able to plug the gaps is with imported players willing to conform to the rigid structures there, a lot of players seem to be convinced that big money is still available from other clubs (and Sligo, Bohs and Fingal would appear to be proving them right).

Turner turned down shamrock so the main reason has to be money:rolleyes: any player that signs for Bohs will be getting 1k or less just like last year.

Everybody knows that any player that signed for Bohs last year only got 1 year deals at 1k or less. You know everything about every club except your own:D. Id say about 90% of your posts are about Bohs:o

Common knowledge in Dundalk too, didn't hear a figure but heard a signing on fee.
Don't have any pictures, videos or drawings of the event taking place so you can believe what you want.
Also I find this thread hilarious, its called the Rumours thread but when somebody posts a rumour others look for proof or sources, it's not a rumour then lads!!

Ignorance is bliss.
Anyone who signed/re-signed for us this season (Ndo, Keegan, Deegan, Shelley and erm... Gregg) were on one-year deals on no more than 1000 p/w. All big contracts, with the exception of Jason Byrne and the short-term deal for Mindaugas Kalonas in 2008, were handed out under Sean Connor. There are six players under contract for next season, three of whom would be big enough earners but anyone signed/re-signed will be on no more than 1000 p/w. I don't know if we're only handing out one-year deals again this year or not. Bohs' wage bill will be cut by 42% next season.

-Are Bohs getting money from the car parking deal with the Mater , next season?
and.. Is there a danger that the "wage scenario" that bohs have in place(footballer's being also barman-cum-youth coach) will incur the wrath of the all seeing eye of john delaney, or would it take a whistleblower from inside dalymount to bring the house of cards down?
Genuine question.;)

Rediculous Question.
I dont know if Luke O works for the FAI. And i'm guessing he is not John Delaney, so maybe your question would be better directed to him. He may be a bit distracted just now mind.
Genuine question of my own - to anyone who knows.
Will the 65% rule be for all employees this season regardless of role?

After he got sacked last time around?. Glutton for punishment obviously. Just because someone wants to sign doesn't mean we should sign them I reckon, particularly those mentioned. Couldn't see Cronin having any of them if he's still around next season.

He's going to Hibs?? ;)
:) Well, there are 3 "Irish" clubs in Malta but only 1 who profess their "Irishness" and play in Green and White, ie Floriana. It is a slight step down for him but in fairness the leagues aren't a million miles apart in talent or quality (or behind the scenes shenanigans). He was at the 3-2 win over Hibernians yesterday and trained during the week. Pictures of him on the Floriana fans site.
Shane Robinson released

Yesterday's Sun
BOHEMIANS have held on to five of the squad that landed the title.
Gary Deegan, Paul Keegan, Brian Shelley, Owen Heary and Glenn Cronin have agreed to stay although they cannot sign until December 1.
Bohs are still in talks with Joseph Ndo while a shock return for Glen Crowe — who was told he would not be kept on — has not been ruled out.
Neale Fenn has been released, while boss Pat Fenlon hopes to sign Shamrock Rovers keeper Barry Murphy and Sligo Rovers striker Raffaele Cretaro.
Today's Mirror says ourselves, Shamrock and Fingal are after Steven Gray, that we've been linked with UCD's Ronan Finn (First Division Player of the Year), that Raf Cretaro is 'inching ever closer to signing for Bohemians' and that Barry Murphy might turn us down if Fingal come calling.

He was one of the main reasons we stayed up .Lead goal scorer , a pit bull in midfield and filled in great at right back when asked .He will badly missed by all at DUFC ! Will be a success at rovers if given the chance ..won player of the season also ..

Galway face Green fight
GALWAY UNITED face a battle to hold on to their star forward Aaron Green.
The teenager only broke into the first team at Terryland Park midway through the season but he made a big impression, scoring five goals as Galway managed to avoid relegation.
Premier Division sides Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers are reportedly keen on the Dubliner but there is interest from the Britain too, with Peterborough United and Dundee United eager to take Green on trial.
