Kev Doherty re-signs for Shels. Hopefully can stay fit as he had a great start to last season.

That's always his problem though, he misses too many games every year.

Heard before Christmas that we were talking to him with a view to a pay-per-play contract. How true that is I don't know.

Would be smashing if he could stay fit. Top bloke.

From todays Star:

Robert Bayly on trial with Blackpool.
Barry Molloy close to a move to Bristol Rovers.
Darlington interested in Dan Connor(although he doesn't want to leave til he gets what he's owed...good luck with that).
Dundalk linked with Stephen Maher & John Flood.
Rovers linked with ex-Mons Paul Whelan.

Why cant Sligo fans just accept that they are known as Sligo and Shamrock Rovers are known, more often than not, as Rovers? Whats the big deal, its not gonna change, no matter how many times you type it differently on the internet!

To resolve this once and for all, why don't Sligo Rovers just change their name to 'Sligo &*%$"£^%$^' (insert own expletive)

Shamrock Rovers fans don't go on about it at all. It's just very childish Sligo fans on here who constantly post ridiculous and unhelpful stuff about 'Rovers'. It really is cringeworthy to see variations on the following time and time again;

"Twigg has been a great signing for Rovers this year"
"DID HE SIGN FOR ROVERS?? I THOUGHT HE PLAYED FOR SHAMROCK!!!! DERS ONLY ONE ROVERS   "
"thanked from twenty assorted Sligo Rovers and Bohemians fans"

It doesn't wind up Shamrock Rovers fans, at all, it's just crigneworthy.

I thought it was obvious by this stage...

Sligo fan saying Rovers: clearly talking about Sligo
anybody else saying Rovers: clearly talking about Shamrock

Anybody complaining/questioning somebody using Rovers in reference to the above: arsehole

Grand so, going forward rovers means Sligo - to avoid confusion. perhaps we could have a competition to come up with an alternative name for shams ?

Sligo play in Markiewicz Park.

Rovers play in the Showgrounds.
Twice a year, as they do in Inchicore, Oriel Park, Terryland, United Park, Dalymount and so on. They play their home games in the Tallaght Stadium though.
Anyway, I'm backing DDD's stance on this

Shamrock Rovers seemed very confident of him being announced as their player on Monday, but not a word out of them since? Still training with us, apparantly.

Decent player is Kearney. We had him down here for a season.

Heard he trained with and played a game with Cork City aswel.

In other rumors theres talk of the long going big pre season transfer news which has hit the headlines bigger than Ronaldo to Madrid that we will today FINALLY seal Cummins signature. Heres hoping anyway.

Quote from Kevin L on the Rovers forum..........

For the record, as I said before, Chris Turner has signed a contract with Sligo Rovers and is a Sligo Rovers player.
If there are any further developements, we will let you all know.

They have to really. Even though it is not an FAI/FIFA recognised contract it is still a legally binding contract and thus the same rules apply about the breach of said contract about reimbersment etc.
No way will he be allowed walk to shams for nothing after signing a 2 year contract for us.

If you can't register him on the contract that he has signed and he refuses to sign another contract, would the club be willing to keep paying him to sit in the stands?

From what I can gather O'Neill won't sign him unless it's on a free as he wasn't impressed with being turned down in the first place.

Monies owed from Turners wages will at least be expected to repaid. There is a rumour of a transfer fee as well. Needs to sorted quickly so Cookie can free up Turners wages for new players.

And there is the crux of the matter.
But I definetly cant see him being let walk after paying him wages for a few weeks and a signing on fee.

Nope not that I heard off anyways, why have you heard anything? WHy the negativity in that comment of yours? Fact that a Dundalk fan went to Utd Park to watch a game?

The lad who scored for Shels was sharp and Casso did well for them in midfield, that was about it.
