how about lads name the most loyal players from their own clubs just to get an idea about what loyalty used to mean..

I think that the local rule meant he couldn't return to Limerick District League after leaving Limerick FC.

It's easy to be loyal when your winning, it's the player that stays with a not so successful club.

seanie lipper and jimmy sheehan and joe hannan (fairview) would not be far off alan sheehan.

also tony mcnamara played i think 23 consecutive years of premier football if im not mistaken - i think it was with 2 clubs though in mungret regional and regional utd. some record either way.

dont think standard that bad down there its just that most of the best players in limerick are playing in the top six teams.some decent players in bottom six too its just they probably havnt got enough decent players to compete with top six.

I think alot has to do with how teams/clubs are organised, this is what draws alot of players and the right players to develop a successful team that will compete at the right end of the table.

Adrian Lipper is with Pike Rovers a long time. I'd say he must be close to Alan's record. I'll ask him when I see him how long he is there exactly. I know he played for Pike in the early 80's so it's at least 28 years, if not more.

Glory hunter? to play with some of the teams he's played with you have to be a good player and some of those clubs you mentioned wouldnt beat snow off a rope i.e star and abbey so how can you call him a glory hunter? let me guess your a one club man cos they're the only ones who'll have you jesus lads jealousy is a horrible thing, all good players nowadays move clubs get over it the days of staying with one club is gone

Fully agree, lets face it guys everybody wants to win!
If you didnt you shouldnt be playing and you wont play with a top team without that attitude,
He will be a great signing to however the hell he is signing with and will bolster there chances of winning an FAI medal.
Top players play with top teams!

It tends to be the not so good players/uninformed people that sprout on about loyalty this aint the 70's or 80's where you played with your local club with all your mates the best players will play with the best teams with the best set up and you know what fair play to em you stand still you go nowhere

real club men should always stay put look whats happened to abbey not 1 player still with them since they were in premier league and now on the verge of folding.
