anyone heard anymore on the germans supposedly stopping any irish fans from entering the german end
just had a text advising me they are going to do this
??? they better hadn't, better brush up on some german phrases and get meself a deutschland jersey otherwise

They could.

Now look at the options

1) Allow the Irish in - knowing there won't be trouble.

2) Turn away 10,000-15,000 fans with tickets- making them very very angry.

Answers on a postcard to the Stuttgart police chief.

Now having said that there may well be scare stories to discourage people from travelling.

Ther eis still the possibility however unlikely that they can cancel tickets already in the hands of Irish residents. Nothing they can do about people from other countries who bought tickets.

I'm sure the EU would have a legal position on this, open market and all that.

Also due to the precedence which has already been set in the World Cup where there was very little segregation between fans, and with Irish fans having a good reputations when travelling abroad it would be hard to see what ground they would have.

Anyhow, I've been listening to Kraftwork and eating a lot of bratwurst recently so I'm sure if we all follow that plan we should sneak in :)

Das it gut.

Das is sehr gut.

Ralax lads. Im fed up of reading and hearing these kind of scaremongering stories coming up to every away game. There is no way the Germans are going to stop fans with legit tickets from enetering the stadium. When did any of ye ever hear of anything like this hapopening anywhere???? As for wearing gernman jerseys and covering up your Irish gear will ye get a grip.
I've being going to way games since 1990 and its the same ****e before every trip. Has never hapened yet and have yet to meet anyone it's happened to.

Just wondering is anyone else making the trip to stuttgart from holland???
Im about to book my trip and it would appear I have an 8 hour train journey ahead of me. Was hoping others could help me turn the train into the fastest irish pub on wheels!?!?

how much in a taxi from the centre and also from the main train station in stuttgart?

what is the name of the stop on the s-bahn?

This is not Dublin. Public transport exists. It is reliable, fast and cheap. You don't need taxis.

We had 2 rooms booked, but I had to cancel one as a couple of lads cant get off work. I literally cancelled it half hour ago.
I stayed in this hotel for the England Ecaudor game. Sound hotel 5-10 mins by taxi to main square and right beside tram lines. Big, clean rooms. Cheap enough too.

email: hotelhafner@yahoo.de

Mention the cancellation, because I mentioned that I would put some mates on to the vacant room. Told them they would have no problem filling it.

No point in trying them. I was on the phone to them last Thursday and they had nothing left even though on their site it showed that there were still rooms available. Had an absolute nightmare trying to get a room. Got sorted in the end though! :D

The German media still have not copped on. There is a surprise in store for the natives.
"The natives of stuttgart count on the fact that about 20,000 Irish fans come. Of that 15,000 would not have tickets for the Daimlerstadion, which is already sold out."

Stuttgart (council) are also planning public viewing to replicate the world cup atmosphere.

I mailed them a few weeks ago and they were very quick coming back with confirmation of a reservation for 5 of us.

Supposedly its only about 15 mins walk outside the city and, best of all, it works out at only €10 a night :D

So out of the 53,000 capacity how many tickets were "officially released" for Irish fans? And how many tickets were "unofficially obtained" by Irish fans?

Away supporters are entitled to 10% of the capacity of the ground so going on a capacity of 53,000 the FAI would have received 5,300 tickets from the DFB. It's much more difficult however to estimate how many Irish will be actually at the game. I'd say though that estimates of about 15,000 - 20,000 travelling would be about right with the majority of those managing to get tickets. Irish fans tend to very good at getting tickets for matches when there appear to be none.

Still searching for tickets. Got in early with cheap flights back in Feb but was on holiday when the eventim.de leak came out. Knocked back from FAI as well. Havent given up hope yet, any one know what the touts are likely to be charging?

Have the Germans any plans to replicate the fanzone areas like they had at the world cup?

A bloke I know paid €150 per ticket for 4 tickets from an internet tout over the weekend. These were eventim tickets and were €50 (approx) face value.

I think this is a time where the principle has to be kept due to the fact if let go this time it could be open to abuse. I know in this case that the poster is likely to be legit but if you let it go this one time it could be open to abuse form many touts.

he paid 95 to a tout - which then starts a merry-go-round! i've paid high prices before so I understand where sligo is coming from - still we should stick to the principle of not allowing the sale of over face value

There is a group of seven of us booked into the Ritz Garni Hotel ( originally Hafner Garni....but they over-booked ) and we are approx. 10 km from centre. However, as the Metro system is very good, and there is a stop adjacent to our hotel, it's not a problem.....15 mins to city centre!!:)
