Oh Derry! If you go out like this, it will be the home leg that will kill you.
10 mins to do it. Come on Derry.

Hard luck to Derry but a lot of pride restored in that effort. What could have been with a better result at home.

Tough luck on Derry - will be kicking themselves.
A timely co-efficient boost though.
Shiels giving it socks at the end to the officials - not sure what about.

That Dinamo side were there for the taking. Kenny Shiels had an awful go at the ref at the full time whistle. Very audible "diabolical" being screamed at the officials by him.
Hard luck Derry. Good win.

Derry don't get any club coefficient points for the win, but they do win the league a point, to help keep us sliding towards the preliminary rounds.

Fair play Derry. A nice surprise. Similar to when Dundalk went out to Hadjuk Split and beat them 2-1 in the 2nd leg a few years back, after losing the home leg 2-0. I was at Oriel for that home leg and Split had looked very impressive so I naturally assumed Dundalk would get nothing from the 2nd leg.

Dinamo Minsk were clearly quite surprised to face an actual football team after we just didn't bother turning up for the first leg.
Still, the kind of performance that could turn our season after how awful we've been in the last while. The new signings look pretty handy.

Great stuff from Derry. Bit of pride restored after last year's thumping in Europe.

Don't think there is any danger of that. We were only dropping 0.2500 this year - we have 0.5000 tacked on already this season. Hopefully another win for Dundalk tonight and maybe just maybe there may be more to come. Next season we will lose 2.000 pts so more of a challenge.

A big missed opportunity . Derry were equal and better throughout the pitch today. Another case of too much respect, negwtiviry

Fair play on the result today though they played some good stuff.

Well we’ll lose 2.250 over the next 2 seasons. So the more we gain this season over 0.250, will eat into the 2.000 target next year.

These days I think it's more a case of mental exhaustion and lapses of concentration as opposed to any physical shortfall. Physically our teams should be as good as the european sides, and by and large they are. But in our domestic league guys probably learn bad habits and mentally get lazy because they're not severely punished whenever they switch off. Whereas in europe you usually cough up a goal-scoring opportunity for any slight lapse in concentration.
That's another thing that made Dundalk's run so impressive 2 tears ago. They really looked (and played) like they belonged.
Thats the point about european experience though, playing at the level you should know and be aware of that possibility. So the ball you might leave you do your utmost to get a touch on it.

Derry could have been 2 or 3 up, instead floppy defending and poor finishing has them at 1-1. Another LOI story of dopey defending.
My hopes had risen, only to be cruelly dashed.

The world cup, and Dundalk in previous seasons have shown that a well organised, concentrated team can compete against individual quality. There's no excuse anymore for LOI teams in Europe making these mistakes.
Brian Gartland is playing tonight. I presume you will revert to type at the first opportunity.

Great win for Derry. Pity they let themselves down last week. Great to see Rovers winning, hopefully, they can nick another! We might have three very decent Euro results this evening (looking at you Dundalk :) )
It's on eirsport. Rovers doing very well.
Just switched it on, yeah they seem to be doing well. It's about time our teams started to take the next step and actually get the result in these games, rather than just losing creditably. If they do go out tonight they'll be kicking themselves over last week.
By the way, fabulous stadium there. Depressing how far off that standard we are (facilities I mean.)

No they will be kicking themselves over tonight. By far the better side, AIK have not had a shot as far as i can remember. They will prob get one chance and stick it away tho..

Sure isn't it the national stadium.
Sure isn't it the national stadium.
Ah, that explains it. Do they play there regularly, or did they just shift the game for the visit of those European giants, Shamrock Rovers (sarcasm:p)
