Lads i get a bit annoyed with players moving from one club to another. With the likes of franky leaving a very good regional side to play with pike, and i no he played alot of ball with pike but being LOYAL is one thing thats not around any more.Mike carey romours that he is signing for this club and that club lets hope abbeyvale is right that he is staying with carew then he deserves alot of credit for that. All i am trying to say is good club men eventually make a desent team and if they ride out the bad times then soon enough will have a core of players that will go out and give everything and play for each other.

I agree with what you are saying but people are different. some players pride themselves on being "clubmen" and others pride themselves on how many medals they have.
Players who stick with their local clubs deserve a lot of credit but you cant blame someone for wanting a chance of some titles.
however, Having a core set of players who were brought up playing for the club does help, especially when times are tough.
Look at park rangers, they got rid of their club players and did get in some decent signings about 3 years ago. all was fine while the team was doing well but once the going got tough, the players were gone.

frankie stewart is a pike clubman through and through
played all his schoolboy football with pike, premier league and munster junior with pike, family all pike people and as far as I can remember has been giving a hand with the schoolboys the last few years
he wasnt get a fair crack when pa mul was in charge so went to regional which is fair enough
your point stands about player loyality, balla seem to be the only ones with it - its just frankie is a bad example

player's loyalty to a club and a club's loyalty to players can have good effects and it can also have negative effects. I know that my own club were accused of being a closed shop for a long time and people were probably right. the positive effect was that it bred great spirit and lifelong friendships for many of the players. The down side to that was there was very little injection of new blood and new ideas...when my clubs started to go down the other route of bringing in outside players they were and are still being slagged off for doing the same. it is a case of being damned if you do and damned if you dont...
I agree with u that Franky is a bad example Mitresize5,i was just comented on those players that were mentioned. In my eyes Loyalty is a big thing and there just is not much of that around at the moment. If all the good players went to the top sides than that would be bad for the league,as it is at the moment some of the weaker teams are capable of beating the top sides.I just hope the weaker teams keep on to there best players for the good of the league.

There are a number of players that would walk into any team in limerick ,so should lims 37 sign all them 2..
I think limerick should sign the players that they want at the club and also the players that want to play for the club
There are alot of players that are more than good enough to play for limerick37 around town but if they dont actually want to play for limerick i dont see the point in limerick37 trying to sign them

Funny I remember Franky playing schoolboys with Hyde Rgs with his father helping Ger Hannon to run the team. He also got a shoolboy awards as a Hyde player. That was probably before he became Pike "all his life"

Just a quick question about who Actually picks the irish junior team..i was under the impression that it was the manager gerry smith. i have being told by some of the players who played for my club in the season just past, that mr considine from pike actually can get players picked for the irish junior team if the go and sign with pike. I would like to congratulate Mr conside on his promotion... I womder is Mike o'brien aware this.. i thought that he was the junior scout for limk...?

Hi Leather
A bit like Turlough on the Schoolboy scene, Conny makes direct contact with the Irish manager informing him of potential Pike caps.
Maybe you need to get the number!!
As regards your players I know Gerry Smyth had Alan Carroll watched twice this season once in the Lawson Cup final and he was advised to wait until next season.
Other than young Carroll, while your side had a brilliant success, no individual stood out as International class.

You seem to have a problem with Limerick players being given caps???Conny is a friend of gerry smith, what was wrong with conny telling him hartnett and McGarry were good enough for int level, as for sign for pike and get a cap..name the players who told you this...the usual anti pike crap.

Have no problem with any player with any club from any league getting a cap...actually delighted for any person who gets the honour. It is the way in which certain people can claim to have the ability to aquire these caps for a player IF they sign for their club, that is what i have a problem with... How do you make out this is anti pike???? I would have the same opinion of any person involved with any club who would claim to have this ability. is it not the Managers job to award the caps.....?

i think robbie coombes is one the most under rated players in town ... he must be doing somthing right to get picked for the oscar traynor, then the national trials and then get capped.

usual carry on boro have corbally ruined over the past few seasons
with the poaching the have done to the club. Then u have boro guys like leather on the site moaning about guys been able to get a cap,

People in glass houses lads.......you can be damn sure that any club in town with the resources to be able to pay players money WILL DO EXACTLY THAT.
Whats the big problem with clubs giving players money for expences or for signing, fair play to those clubs,it was happening 40 years ago so of coarse its happening now. The clubs that have bars are in a great position when it comes to looking after players, and the bars are a result of club members breaking their arses over the years to make them a success, why should the clubs be ashamed of paying players???? Its up to the rest of the clubs in this town to catch up with these clubs instead of whining about them.

Alan Barry mightn't play next season so Peter Ryan would be a good signing. Has the potential to be a very good player if he gets his attitude right. Tough on Corbally tho I really don't understand why so many have left them over the last few years. Guys that have played all schoolboy and minor with them then Corbally get to the premier and lose 3 or 4. This season they get to the munster junior quarter final and were unlucky not to get to the semi now there's talk of them losing more players. Must be very disheartening for the people involved. They've worked very hard over the years to put together some of the best facilities in town too. No club has better dressing rooms or how many have an all weather pitch to match.

Is Frank Stewart signing with Pike?
Is Dave Morris signing for Corbally?
Is Mike Carey signing for Regional ?
Is it true Carew Park will be most of the Pike B team from last season?
Is it true the LDMC are postponing the start of the youth leagues to accomodate players returning from Under 21's ?
Is it true Barry Ryan is signing for the Boro ?
I have heard all these stories but honestly do not know which is true. Can anyone help.
