Talking to jossy last friday and he said he was interested in playing with wembly, not sure will he, but he would be a great signing, but after reading the post by old keeper it seems unlikely

The 5 game rule still operates in Limerick and only here, so any players who want to play junior football for the remainder of the season and have played more than the 5 games at senior level will only be eligible for the FAI and Munster Junior competitions if they get released by Limerick FC.
To get this rule changed it would have to come from the clubs as Old Keeper stated.
From what i have been told the vast majority of the current Limerick FC squad some of whom are friends of mine will be waiting to see what becomes of this new consortium.
Derek Mc Carthy has signed for Pike but will only be available for the FAI and MJC, the reason he did is to be classed as an amateur player and be eligible to play for the Irish Universities in the world student games in the summer in Tokyo.
Paul Finucane is training with Regional because his friends play for them but he will not be signing for them and i would imagine all of the other rumours surrounding other Limerick FC players are just that, rumours and they will be waiting to see what happens with Limerick..........

Is this 5 game rule confined only to Eircom league games or does it also apply to the cups ie. FAI Senior cup and Munster Senior Cup.

yes it applies to all senior games cups included

So that means if Pike had opted to play in the Munster Senior Cup this year and had played 5 matches or more in the competition that their players would be ineligible to play league matches from that point on. Ludicrous rule if this is the case. Old Keeper can you shed any light on the matter?

This area is complicated but If Pike had opted to play in the MSC they would not have had a problem as there are exceptions to this rule for Junior teams who qualify for the MSC and the FAI Senior cup, the FAI cup rules and the MJC cup rules also mention these exceptions. The whole area needs to be addressed locally and ALL the clubs need to have an input as the danger is that these rules are changed to meed the needs of a few clubs but have a detremental effect on soccer in general. remember it was probably a proposal by one junior club that made the rule in the first place.

Just wondering but didnt Brenden Hughes go to fairview last season a bit into the season. He would have played a few games for limerick (not sure how many) but he was allowed to play in the league, wasnt he?

Brendan Hughes,Rossi,Mike Ahearne,Frank Brown and i think there was 1 more player who signed for Fairview from Limerick. They all played in the league for Fairview and Fairview were deducted points for not getting these players released from League of Ireland. They got transfered but not released if i am correct.

So they were eligible to play in the league.

View lost the points cos the players were not released properly not because they were ineligible for the league.

So the players leaving limerick this year should also be eligible to play in the league.

Yea the rule seems to be very unclear. Are all the Limerick U-21 squad eligible to sign back with junior clubs and play league games, even the ones that were under contract and that played more than 5 games with the senior team??

Did they change their manager during the season? I think it was around the same time they stopped winning (I maybe wrong).

john o neill was the manager - now Barry Ryan, to be honest it looked look a good move - Barry has good experience LOI, Fairview ,St Michaels where as John was there 10-12 years ( heart is in the club) . Barry is a bit of a knob though and a blow in...............( maybe there for the money and obviously has no love of the club). But besides that they don't have players except one or two and if the league started now they would struggle to stay up
