You couldn't bring it to Westport due to the Westport team would more than lightly have no manners to there host.
Ending in red faces:D

It is an insult to suggest that Westport people would not have the manners to... actually i couldn't make out what you were trying to say.

Your English is terrible, that is a matter of fact!

Kenneth, sorry Thunderblaster(!) has already pointed out we had a game the next day. With all the free weekends why did the Mayo League pick a weekend when there were games, and why were Urluar (i think) allowed to call of their game?

As for a Galway Bohs. I dont think anyone mentioned that the bus broke down, the bus co. just didn't bother showing. Between players, committee and supporters don't tell me they hadn't any cars between them to drive down in?

Anyway it doesn't really matter what you think, we will know the outcome next week

I am sure that between the supporters and players that a club of their size could have sorted something out.

Great article on Mozmir on the Mayo News this week. I hear that there is a going away party in Walsh's Bar, Mill Street next Friday night at 10:00. All supporters are welcome to pay homage to the legend!!:D

I agree with you Thunder, it was a nice gesture by the Mayo News to write a farewell article on a player who has not been in the team for long, but has been integral to Westport's progress this year. It's reassuring to see that foreign nationals are being recognised in the area for their achievements, rather than the old 'They come over here, they take our jobs...' right-wing bull**** the Mail and other similarly xenophobic papers spout week in week out. All the best to him at home and fair play on the titles he won with Westport, as well as his place on the team of the season.

There is a feeling out there that there is more to this than a bus not turning up. Did Bohs have a compliment of 11 assembled to travel? (not forgetting that you can start a game with seven players) When you weigh all this up, something's not quite right, but we will leave it to the powers to be at the Connacht FA to sort out the issue.

Anywhere but the WI which is a kip, but then there is not a decent hotel in CBR anyway. The McWilliam is a fine hotel and a superior venue.
Kip or no Kip I do not see to many Hotels in Westport supporting Mayo football (not westport) or that matter Mayo. Come on and accept the way your club left the dinner dance was poor form nothing to do with the hotel. What if the Mayo league turned around and said that you could not rent Milebush for your Connacht Cup game. We would never hear the end of it. As for Bohs not turning up, the have to be out and Utd into the next Rd. Bus cancelled itself what type of business is that.

As I said before, if there was no match on the next day the team would have stayed, they were right to go home we have nothing to be ashamed of.

The ML could have organised this function in the weeks prior to this when there was hardly any football being played, but this is beyond their capabilities.

On the subject of sponsorship, who are our main sponsors? The Castlecourt Hotel owned by the Corcoran family they also sponsor the Westport GAA Team, another one of their businesses sponsors the Westport Rugby Team, and Ballyheane Soccer Club.

[So they sponsor 2 Superleague Teams along with the others, and they are not doing enough? get your facts right.

Their Hotel also has a pool (unlike any of yours) and it is a place you go to and take a jump for yourself…;)

Easy on, you should consider taking a few anger management classes, who's the badger now. The point I was making was that the WI give direct to the Mayo League and like the CCH they also sponsor a number of clubs around Castlebar

Ha! Ha! Easy on? You are the one thinking up this nonsense, unfortunately it has to be responded to as it is complete nonsense, if you think that I am going to allow you to talk of the top of your head without debate think again, at least back up what you say.

The WI may give "direct" to the ML, but is it of greater value in monetary terms than what the CCH give to the superleague teams?

The WI would get most of their money back from what you spend at ML functions anyway.

I am sure that the CCH would be glad to hold the awards in their hotel if asked.;)

What happened. Was it that you played poorly or are Dungaran a good side. Utd have won the Cup already out of season, so lack of games is not helpful but its no excuse, Celtic won yesterday. Utd will be my fav. to lift the Connacht cup after 20 years. Good win for your U-17's on Sat.

The first half hour we were terrible, but make no bones Dungarvan are a good side, they are very fit and if you give them space they will punish you.
Usually the lads would have arranged some challenge games, but as there were fixtures in place, there was games to be played, unfortunately none of them showed up, the lads were caught cold on the day.
I have been told that the Dungarvan committee pulled out all the stops for those who styed overnight and made Westports visit a memorable one in spite of the result, they are a credit to football.

On a lighter note thanks Closing, for the vote of confidence in the Conn cup.:)

I expected Utd to have a real go this year, But the Connacht Cup is still there to be won. What odds for a Celtic Utd final (on opposite sides of the draw). Celtic won 1-0 (John Maughan 77 min.) well deserved what I hear.

Like to set the record straight, First of all there is no concrete mixing plant located near Ballyheane F.C.
Ballyheane are proud to be associated with Corcoran's Concrete. and have been involved with engine Rewind another member of the Corcoran family.Ballyheane are delighted with the return, we have had with The Corcoran Family, and lookforward to continue support in the future.
I do a gree that the Mayo should continue its association with the W.I. as your members here do not have the full facts of that sponsorship.
I can tell you, that the dinner dance bears no cost to the league, I just leave it there.

I take it that you are looking at an executive committee in overall charge with a finance committee, junior committee, schoolboys/youths committee and ladies committee running the club with one from each to go on the executive committee. Would you be right in saying that? Remember, you are more than welcome to come to the AGM and put your views forward and, maybe, accept a nomination to go on the committee. The club is looking for new blood with fresh ideas.

The big step in the new development was crossed over the weekend. Westport United were granted planning permission for the new ground after ticking all the boxes supplied by Mayo County Council. However, it is subject to appeal to An Bord Pleanala, and there is a fair chance that it could happen. Everyone will have to get their heads down and put the work into the project if we want the ground to be ready for 2011.
