I believe that Westport United got conditional planning permission for their site. If that is the case, it is great news but it means a lot of very hard work by all with a vested interest in the club and everybody will have to get behind the project and give a bit of expertise on anything that will help our dream come true. Even a bit of help from friends of our club that reads www.foot.ie would be beneficial. There is a flag day coming up on Nov. 24th around the streets of Westport, if that information is correct. All donations will be appreciated.

when someone finds fault you attack them rambling no.you can't inform something unless its based on fact, not fiction.
If there was any truth in the ramblings of his job. Then he would have a case for unfair dismissal, I don't think any employer would like to go down that road.

After that grinding 1-0 win over S&F with Bourkie scoring, the 3 in 1 Oil was applied to the mechanisms that run the famous junior team and the iconic saints returned to the dugout against Kiltimagh/Knock United. Westport finally started to play the slick football that was devoid for a very long time and there were some welcome faces back. We cruised it 9-1 with the Louisburgh Lion bagging FIVE goals, Spiderman grabbing a brace and one each for Gerry and Lovejoy. The word is that the mean machine is ready to roll and the opposition will quake in their boots.:D

Yes great result against K&K Utd a team who are going for a play-off spot in the Mayo League Div 2b where they have to beat Castlebar Celtic C yes C. I hear Killester are quaking in their boots. With all the players back, who was dropped (a few unhappy players) for this game and how many of this squad is allowed to play for the B team on Sunday.

Interesting to note on a certain media outlet last week, it had a major article on Westport United set on giving the managers job to........the person who didn't get it. As for this week's article on who actually got the job, there was less of a profile and not on the main football page.

As Westport United B are quietly formulating their permutations for Sunday, I'm sure that Fahy would be gearing up their Thunder Football with their rough and tumble training. The tactics would be "to get stuck in" and hoof the ball up the pitch. Westport are holding their trump card for Sunday.

Well spotted Tb. Wonder did he have inside info, and/or who was feeding it to him for what reason??? Think magicians call it "Misdirection"!! Also wonder is the same reporter reading "pixieheads" posts on the ML thread with regard to Danny Lawless taking the snugboro job? Be careful what you say here on foot.ie folks, it may be in the paper!!
And am i alone in wondering how some potential manager gets "linked" to a post in the same paper? How does this happen? Is this a tabloid?!! Certainly has the appearance of one looking at the opinion column!:D

good man!they're very derogotary remarks coming from a man whose club tried to prise a few of our 'rough and tumble' lads from us not so long ago.at least we stay loyal to all the lads who have played with us all year- and not having to rely on 'imports'.its a poor reflection on yee when yee have to win the title using first teamers.doesnt reflect too well on the managers confidence in the b team squad.at least we'll be easily motivated for the derby come sunday!:ball:

You seem to know your stuff re Wesport, I just have a few quick questions for you.

Do you rate Paddy Ryder (ex Westport)?
What is his best position?
Did he feature much in yer FAI cup winning season?

Paddy used to play for the B Team he did not feature in the senior squad, but with the quality in the team ahead of him it would be difficult to win a place in the first team.

He is a decent player, his best position is right wing or striker. The only downside with him that he is a bit on the light side and could be pushed off the ball.

Congratulations to the B Team in their title win. They emerged with all arms and legs intact. Gerry picked up a hamstring injury though. Hard luck to Fahy, they deserved to win, if they play consistently like they did yesterday, they will get promoted last season, there was no lack of passion or commitment from them, or the manager for that matter.

Well done dave Lyons!

Yeah, was at the game and to be honest, it was a very tough game. Not much football from a purists point of view but lots of character, commitment and a will to win and quite a few beefy tackles. Over the ninety minutes, Fahy deserved to win and we can thank Busty, Eamon Daly and Micheal Gibbons for keeping us in the game. Lee Keegan profited from a mistake and the reaction for Fahy's goal from the bench summed up how much they wanted the game and wanted it badly. Sure Mr. Needham would have been bought lots of drink had he scored, and would be the toast of Teddy's Fashions. I often had plenty of wind-ups with JB but it is good banter all the same, and it is part of the game. Can Fahy mount a serious challenge for promotion next year? The answer to that would be yes.

Great to see James "Atmazidis" Fahy lifting the trophy and great to see the lads winning the biggest trophy that the B team can win. Did Pete Lally really sponsor the B team? And one for the annals, Westport United are the first club to win the top two divisions in Mayo in the one season, another piece for the 2011 Centenary Book.

Interesting game in the Sports Park on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 as the club's U.13's takes on Salthill Devon in the 3rd round of the SFAI Troy Cup. Salthill are thinking of coming down for 11:00 for a little bit of prep-work, presumably set-pieces, followed by a light lunch before the game. The winners of this tie are at home to Castlebar Celtic on December 15th.

Should be a great tie. These are the games people should be going to see, football played the way it was meant to be. Utd have a nice team at this level. Surpised to see your good U-12's go down to Erris Utd last weekend. Celtic also have a very good U-13 squad once this years U-12's are added to the team. Should be two great ties who ever plays.

One must congratulate Dave Lyons and co for winning the Premier title for Westport B, and I have know doubt that the players them selves must feel humble on winning the title. and follow there A team in any plaudits that is handed out.
However they must all feel Cheated on not being able to compete in the Super League, which I feel that excising rule should be change, so that the team such as Westport who win the title is aloud to take there place. Its my opinion that a team who finished third such as Ballinrobe have no right to take there place in the super league, and I would hold this regardless who finished in third place, there is no point in replacing one bad rule for another, which is happening at the moment.
Its My opinion this about the M.L. collecting more monies rather than Westport fielding a second team.
I dont see any problem in Westport sending a second team providing they name separate panel, What the league requires is a new club, which I think is obscene.
So they the Mayo League denied the right of Westport B from taking there rightful place,by sending a underated side instead, and then they in TKelly cornor, will write once again, how the standard of the Super League as fallen from grace.
I think its time kelly and Co got off the pot and deal with the real issue of putting the best teams in the Supper League as this is what they are charged with, rather than having a suporting club rather than the real thing.
Think this is one for the A.G.M.

Cmon man, get with it, Westport United were called West Port Town in the early days, along the way they decided a name change, same club, same players, thats it.

Dont be now trying to belittle our hundred years in existence, more importantly dont begrudge us.

Former local soccer clubs-Sporting Club, Textiles, Crusaders-have of course, contributed much but the name synominous with soccer in Westport remains "United", despite its need in the past for cosmetic treatments (temporary changes of the club name to Westport Town and Westport Bohemians) and resuscitation from respiratory arrest in the late 1970's.
