sorry mr considine
Wrong again Mike but if you fancy a game of guess who, you should always start with questions like "is it a man?" or "has he glasses?"
Not going to keep repeating myself anyhow so go find another site to fill with your nonsense, I'm sure you have plenty of friends to talk to, oh well, maybe not but I for one am not interested & will just ignore your foolish comments form no one.
On a more serious note a draw with Pike today has pretty much ended our interest in the league for this year, a good game but if I am honest I would have to say we are missing Tommy & Robbie who would easily have put Pike away. Balla now look like their only challangers for the title & their chances will depend on how they react to todays defeat to Carew.
Cracking game that was, Park also out, disapointing week-end for my predictions but it's down to Carew now to keep the FAI in Limerick best of luck to them, a club with nothing in the last 4 is a massive achievement by all involved in that club.
I'm a balla supporter and am gutted by the result today, but I have to be honest and say that carew deserved it,worked they're socks off, played with ten men for the best part of the 90 mins and extra time, some of the balla lads need a good kick up the arse think they're better than they are, missed tom daly's aerial ability and we looked vulnerable from dead ball situations all day, fair play to carew and good luck in the next round, was at the view v pike game this morning, pike should of won the game, they totally dominated the second half, very strong side, fairview are missing barret and kelliher what junior side wouldn't, but weren't they playing in the fai and the other league game against pike and still lost to them, when was the last time fairview beat pike? 2 or 3 years is it?

I would have to agree with you widow. Carew deserved their win. Ball had too many players not hungry enough.Carew on the other hand battled for every ball and looked the hungrier.
Don't know about the Fairview & Pike game, but heard a couple of different reports suggesting that Fairview could have won the game. Hit the bar, couple of good saves from fitzy in goals. Pike had a lot of the ball in the second half but didn't create a lot of clear cut chances.Pike seem to have the measure of Fraiview in the last few years OK.But I wouldn't say the league is over just yet.Pike still have to play balla twice. But then again looking at balla yesterday

all in a glorious past now, judging from their performance on sunday, I'm more concerned with balla, who've gotten the closest than anyone, besides fairview, to winning it, only a matter of time before more limerick teams start to win it
does seem a bit of a coincidence alright

Widow your right to be more concerned with Balla,They have no past and the future looks as bleek watching them on sunday. To even compare them with Fairview is frightening....
don't get me wrong, not comparing them to fairview far from it, just mentioned that balla are the only other team to come close to winning it (semi final) from limerick in recent years that is even tho that year they would have had to play a very strong fairview side in the final and would probably have being beaten, of course Caledonians won it in the 60's

Here here, Balla won the league last year, which is the past also may I add, & thought they were world beaters.
Fairview are the only Limerick club to dominate junior football for a sustained period.
Write us off at yer peril.
We will be as strong as ever next season & for a few years to come as we have the most exciting young players in town, with the exception maybe of Wembley Rovers, who have a lot of very good youth players.
They will need to be promoted from 1A to have any hope of holding those players & even at that I think they will loose a few.
Has anyone any thoughts on the LDMC entering an under 21 team this year? I think it will be good for junior clubs & gives them a good chance of keeping their young players & not loosing them to Limerick FC, it depends I suppose on your view of senior soccer but I for one am in favour of the motion.

all for it if it will help, junior soccer, but why hold back the young players, I'm a firm believer that you should play at the highest level you can, its how you improve as a player, this thing about us at them, junior and senior, sickens me, junior soccer should be supporting the senior team, including the supporters of junior clubs, good luck to limerick this year, hope they have a great season, read in the local tonight that not one limerick company has sponsored them so far, thats a disgrace, good luck to davy ryan too

and to be honest the genuine balla supporters didn't buy into balla being the best team in town last year winning the league unbeaten, come on, fair play to them but I think the players don't know how they did it, we know how good and how bad balla are, they're an average side at best, one or two good players, ray mcmahon and keith fitzgerald are the best of them, need to get a few more faces in

I agree with you true view, write fairview off at your peril.I think this year they had an indifferent year, loosing the the 2 strikers(Barrett & Kelliher) was a blow that they never got over.I know it's been said here numberous times but they were 1st(17 goals) and 3rd(14 goals) leading scorers in the premier division at the time.
Pike are very stong and will probably go on to win the league this year. But I have no doubth that Fairview will be back bigger and stronger next year.
Balla now have a massive game on Sunday V Pike and after last week need a good performance to get their season back on track. Pike too strong and will win in LIT by the Odd goal. Park Rangers V Fairview a draw in Shannon.
i think waterford crystal are the weakest of the 4 teams left. so with the way the comp has gone this year my moneys on them to win it.
sorry meant to post the above in fai junior section
whats the situation now with the league standings, I know balla are way off pike but have games in hand, how many? Are carew still in it, what about Park?

Ya carew are still in it as far as i know....I think they only lost 1 if not 2 games in the league. They have a good few draws but if they beat or get a result against a few of the top teams they will be in with a chance for the league...I wouldn't write them off not with the season they are having so far....I think our former player has made a hugh difference to the team(cyril maher) and should've taken the penalty on sunday as he is there regular peno taker. This crap about giving a player there hatrick is gone...Stick to the basics if u ask me...game would've been over at full time if they did.....Anyone reckon summerville have a chance of staying up this year or are we doomed....Think we can win sunday against mungret!!!!!

Park most likely blew their chances with the two away draws to Charleville and Abbey. Park will try to the end and give it their best shot , but surely the title will go to Crossagalla, and by the way all of the premier teams in Limerick bitch from the sidelines when they are loosing, ever heard the Balla lads.

Try.....There is this one who is always on the sideline for balla...she is pure mad...Good laugh playing when she is there,,,,,she really gets into the game.....Pity i won't be seeing it next year as i will be playing in 1a unless we get them in the cup.....

i think its still hard to luck beyond pike for the league , points in the bag and all that. Should be interesting down the other end though a few teams are in trouble and hill celtic could make a bit of a revival

Hate to say it but ye look doomed to me aswell.
I would say it's between Mungret & Hill Celtic to see who joins ye, hard to call really I never look further than 3rd so don't reallt know much about releagtion. Mungret have a lot of good young players who will be snapped up if they go down.
Summerville I fear might do a Geraldines on it & struggle to get back to the promised land if they go down this year.
Have to agree with you on Cyril Maher, a fine player, but I dunno if he really wanted to take the peno on Sunday, he wouldn't be used to the pressure I'd say. Can't blame Albert Slattery for having a go, the man is Carew Pk & keeps the whole team together, a born leader on the pitch.

The draw for the semi final of the FAI Junior Cup was made this evening, approx thirty minutes late. The full draw is:
Carew Park V Westport United, Jackman Park, Limerick.
Galway Hibs V Waterford Crystal, Terryland Park, Galway
Both games provisionally set for Easter Sunday, 27th March.
Very tough draw for Carew bearing in mind what Wesport did to Pike.
Best of luck to Martin Reddan & his team though
carew can't afford to go down to ten men against westport cause they won't lie back like balla did, a good football side, saw what westport did to pike, probably the toughest draw carew could of gotten apart from being away to westport, westport aren't the surprise package when pike played them, westport will also match them for heart too, all on the day however, but I'd fancy westport just about

Summerville to go down with hill celtic or mungret
saw summerville play this year a few times two weak at the back but ok going forward better get some defenders in for 1a
1a is very contrasting from a good top half but a very poor bottom half

"Ask me tom", you obviously havent a clue about 1A, bacause if you did, you'd no that there isnt a difference between must of the teams. Star being at the bottom, beat Herbertstown a couple of weeks ago in the cup and have had a couple of good results, but relying on the 17 team is killing them and Hyde have had a good couple of results but linger at the bottom too. there's nothing seperating most of them. Anybody can beat anyone, it'd be hell if anyone got relegated down there, it's a tough league to get out of. Thank god we'll never be relegated down there.

How will balla do against pike on Sunday, will it work in their favour being knocked out in dramatic style or will iteffect their season totally,
progress
11/03/2005, 8:22 PM
ya i think the fai was a huge disapointment for balla,i think they can lift themselves alright but only if they dont go behind to pike,i can see their heads dropping if they do,their season will be well and truly finished if the lose to pike.i will call a 0-0 for this one.

That was last year, you werent talking about last year, you were talking about this year.
couldn't get to the balla pike game this morning but by all reports they should of beaten us by more than 2-0, pike must surely have the league now, fairview won out in shannon, wins for carew and abbey also, anyone know how wembley got on in the fai youth semi this afternoon.

Well we lost to mungret 1-0 today so its between them and hill celtic i'd say for the other relegation places.....1A will be a tough place for us next year i must agree/...we have enjoyed our 4 years in the top flight finishing 4th in the s2nd year which wasn't bad until we lopst players like robbie kelleher and john shine and cyril maher this year.......A lot of work next year but we relish the challenge...will miss premier football though.....At least we will have a clubhouse for the new season and showers [thank god]...Thoug draw for carew but still think they are strong enough to go through!!!!
great win for fairview today, well deserved too, crackin winner from purcell with about 5 mins left, pity balla couldnt do us a favour though,i reckon hill celtic will join summerville in 1A,tough for carew though,i can see westport beatin galways hibs in the final

It was a good win but a draw would have been a fairer result in a match that had a lot of going for it. What do you think of Weldrick

Face it Park Rgs bubble has well & truly burst, ye were way out of yere league progressing so far in the Fai & only did so due to the easy path ye were given by the draw. A draw on Sunday would not have been a fair result.
Good win for Pike against Balla, a result that was never really in doubt.

Ye're not going to dominate the local scene with the team ye have now, ye haven't dominated the local scene in a few years actually ye're experienced players are past it and the young players still have a long way to go, fairview will probably have a great side again but not for a few more years yet...the two lads ye got in to replace the ones ye lost, wow!, the whole league is sh**ing themselves hahaha
Fantastic goal by Jason Purcell on Sunday widow, looks like our experienced players aren't past it just yet.

Must agree with TRUE VIEW there..Wasn't really a good win for the boro when they only beat hill celtic....Even we might have a chance against them...the boro are very hot and cold this year and i think mr.finnan needs a good few more signings if he is to change things around there... Also think that park did get a handy draw in the fai this year..but did well do get as far as they did....Could have been us as we only lost to them on peno's in the fai......So anyway we are relegated this year..Looks like hill celtic as well baring a miracle....Still think that the view need to recover some strickers as the loss of robbie (especially) has hurt them but i am sure they have a few young fellows in there youth acamady and if not then they will pouch someone from another team(as always)....

Might be a wee bit early.....but anyone have a list of Premier clubs that would be worth signing for next season? Preferably ones that ain't too "clannish" (pardon the expression), have a good setup and would welcome in a decent player. Not too sure if it's possible but a few managers names and contact details would be spot on. :)

15/03/2005, 8:28 AM
Well that would depend on whether you were any good....Its a pretty tough league to play in i can tell u that much..But if u are anyway decent all clubs will be on the look out especially those clubs that wil be promoted to premier this year....We would welcome you if u were good but we are going down this year so thats no good to you.....Balla would be a good team to go to but most of them are home grown, fairview will pouch u anyway if u are anygood as they pouch everyone, park are in shannon and have a hugh squad out there so i dunno if u would be welcome there, janesboro are trying to built a solid team so that might be an option,Mungret would be a poor enough premier team but could be worth a go,regional are a fine young team and have a good set up and look to be a team on the up they could be worth signing for..Other than that i can't help you.....

Thanks Summerville, was approached directly by Regional for the last 2 seasons to come in and play, even did some training with them but logistics was a problem and couldn't commit. The situation has indeed changed and I find myself looking to move at the end of the season. Thanks again for the advice tho.....I'll hang around and wait for the trials to begin. Meanwhile let the inter-firm begin!!!
Who knows, we might meet in the near future! :ball:

Travelling and work were the culprits alright....but like I said times change. :)
Not far to travel but far enough, don't want to give too much away as rumours are abundant these days and still have alot to play for in the respective League and Cups.
Mate of mine has asked me to play Interfirm with them alright....not too sure if they're in the top division as it's been a while since I played. Used to play with Chukka a few years back for Dunnes....but thats going back a nice bit.
