Lets be honest, Liverpool fans should be berating Reina's stupidity for putting it in his net to startwith, anyone with half a brain would have burst it.

Can't believe they have lost 4 out of 9 so far... Just can't see Liverpool mounting a challenge for the title this year. IMO they would be better off cutting their losses short and bringing a new manager in now rather than in the summer. At least that way he will have time to asses the situation, work with the squad, find out wo he wants to keep and target new signings for next season.

would agree with you on reina should have burst it instead of putting into net... think all rafa out talk abit over the top all so called top 4 teams are struggling this year and will drop points.. but saying that liverpool cannot afford to many more defeats and next weekend game against man utd now is a must win game and a defeat here could see press and fans pile on the pressure for rafa to go :ball:

Rafa should have used the transfer money he wasted on Johnson to buy a couple of decent strikers who could fill in when Torres gets crocked. Liverpool had their chance to win the title last year and blew it. This "oh we'll win those games we drew last year" is a load of rubbish. They are losing the games they would have drawn last season!!! The liverpool supporters in my office will be keeping their heads down tomorrow..... :)

Don't think there's much to be said about the game other than Sunderland deserved their win. On a side note made the trip to Hetton-Le-Hole before the game to the Bob Paisley Memorial and met his brother Hughie. An asbolute honour and stroke of luck to meet the man. Said he visits the memorial every day. Really made my day.

Watched the game at the weekend and it certainly wasnt what you would like to see with Lyon and United coming to Anfield this week. As I said before, Liverpool just cant afford any injuries to Torres. I am worried about the Lyon game, far more than United. Lyon are a very smart outfit who have the players to cause Liverpool serious problems. If Liverpool's midfield puts in a similar performance to Saturdays then Lyon will pass them to death and it will be a long night. However, I think the crowd has a big part to play and if they dont turn on the team, a home win is on the cards.

United are a poor 2nd to their sides that won the last 3 league titles and I can still see a home win. Michael Owen will come on for the last 15 mins or so but he wont get a kick and his finishing is awful at the moment. Liverpool need to win next Sunday and will but a draw is a good result for United. if United win, which I genuinely cant see happening, then Liverpool are in all sorts of trouble.

I hope this doesn't come back to haunt me but Liverpool won't win the league this season. They aren't good enough. 1 world class player, a dodgy defence and no strength in depth doesn't win you titles. Liverpool are a good cup side and might go far in Europe but they had their chance to win the PL last year with a Man Utd in 3rd gear for most of the season but blew it.

Man Utd might not be sparkling at this moment in time but they've had an excellent start (I cannot remember the last time they started this well) and will keep on grinding out results. The squad know how to win titles and Fergie can rest his players when it suits him because he can rely on the squad players that come in. Arsenal will be United's main threat IMO this year for the title with Chelsea and Man City not far behind.

These are key points for me. Most of Liverpool's optimism stems from how well they did last season. For me they were the best performing team in the league last season but United grinded out what they needed, when they needed it. People say United's midfield is weak, and to a certain extent I agree, but what they do have is strength in numbers. It balanced in the sense that when one player is out, he's replaced by somebody of similar ability. When Liverpool have a key player out, somebody of relatively no ability comes in. I think United will be found out for their lack of world class quality in midfield in key Champions League games and possibly the really difficult PL matches as well ie. Anfield, The Bridge, The Emirates, etc. but they'll have more than enough to win the run of the mill PL games and therefore mount a serious title challenge. A fully fit Hargreaves could make them a different animal also.

Poor Shanks would have been gone inside two seasons if he'd lived in the internet age!

How long has he had to try win a League title ? How much has he spent in trying to do so ?

He has been given every opportunity to bring League title success to Liverpool but time and time again he fails. Even though it is only 9 games in Liverpools title challenge is already nearly over. He foolishly spent 17 odd million (or what ever it was) on a right back when he only has one striker and when he knew deep down he would lose his best midfielder.

With the way the League has started Liverpool should have been seeing this as a massive opportunity to steal a march on their rivals yet they have gone backwards unders Rafa's leadership. I know if i was a Liverpool fan (shudder) i would not want him in charge of my team anymore but then again if your happy being an also ran side yet again then who am i to question you or any other Liverpool fan.

The big big difference with the likes of a side like Liverpool to United or Chelsea is when United or Chelsea play poorly they still normaly tend to grind out results, Liverpool do not. This mentality comes from the manager.

There are plenty of managers out there who i think could do a far superiour job than what Rafa is doing. van Gaal is with Munich but i'm sure the right offer would tempt him. Even Eriksson would bring a better dtermination and steel to Liverpool than what Rafa can offer.

You do know that a manager does not have to be out of work to be available don't you ? it normally works the same way with players.

And seriously, grow up ! i've given you a good senisible reply and you come back with tripe like that. Bray are bottom and have been bottom for a long time, we still have a chance but i think we will go down. Wouldn't expect anymore from you really.

I am not positive about everything and surely you know that! If you say a manager should be sacked surely you have to have someone in your mind that's available and better to come in with immediate effect. Come on surely you agree? Your posts are always sensible.

Do you actually believe that ? seriously ?

If managers always knew best then they blow chance after chance of winning games, winning titles and cups. Managers do NOT always know best and that's why fans have their say, it's a part of the game and anyone who just goes along saying everything is fine and is happy to loose, blow title winning ambitions or even get relegated does not want whats best for their club.

Rafa has obviously taken Liverpool as far as he can. He is no longer the best man for the job, anyone who cannot see that is clearly blinkered.

There are numerous options out there for replacements i.e. O'Niell, Mourihno. The right offer could tempt any of them. The team that lined out against Sunderland on Sat was a joke considering that money that has been made available to him.

The central midfield pairing of Spearing & Lucas would not make another team in the premiership. Spearing is a young player so he will get more chances and rightly so, Lucas is a muppet and any manager that continues to play him needs their head read.

Liverpool have gone down hill fast this season, they have proved beyond doubt they are a two man team and they are as far away as ever from winning a Premier league title.
