Not only that, but there's strong rumours put about on the radio that it's:
Wexford Youths 3-0 Limerick 37 and, a real shock,
Waterford United 3-0 Athlone Town! (ineligible player played - very much tbc this one!)
Goalscorers at Jackman are Dave Ryan (14) and Gary Dunphy (15 pen) btw.
The Bohs security Gestapo strike a blow for free speech by illegally removing Pat the Rat banners from young City fans for being "offensive". Video will be on Youtube later.
Wouldn't want to spoil the bankruptcy party...

Isn't that normally a three point decution for the offending team rather than awarding the game to the opposition? Or has that changed?.
Limerick 2-1 ahead, deservedly on play so far.
Awful goalkeeping error though, Danaher (38).

I would have thought so, maybe the rules have changed, the two lads commentating seemed fairly sure of it, but we'll see. I wonder alright if somebody didn't mix it up with the Wexford story to get two 3-0 scorelines when there should be only one.

I dont know where the press got that one unless they know something I don't
If a team fields an unregistered player it is a fine and points deduction. The points are never awarded to the opposing team as far as i know

yes it is a point deduction..this happened in the 2006 season with Shamrock rovers played an inelgible player for the game against Dundalk..If my memory is corect it was 3 points they got deducted

It was a story flying around the ground in Limerick before the match started by all accounts, I couldn't get down in the end and just heard it on the radio earlier. Hopefully there'll be more about it before the end.
I agree, it was always a deduction, not an awarding of points, but who knows. It was ineligible, not unregistered, maybe that makes a difference in some new rule.
In all likelihood though the story was probably passed about along with the Wexford one (who did get awarded the points it seems), and probably the tales got a bit blended. It doesn't really make a lot of sense otherwise.
EIT: Both the WLR reporter and Dave Warren have just this second said that they've heard we're getting the extra two points from the Athlone match. This really needs clarification! :D
Half time 2-1 BTW.

Well I heard info on the Youths v L37 thing but I'm saying nothing until it is confirmed. The Waterford thing could have a significant bearing on the outcome of the promotion race. Not like the FAI to make a firm decision!!!!
:D
They should keep the Christmas tree in the attic for a while yet just in case!

Would the increase in the price of petrol affect that:D
Shels have just taken the lead against the Yoofs.
Grincell on for Gary Dunphy (??!!) at half time at Jackman. edit: Yep, tactical switch apparently.

If anyone except me is interested (unlikely) it's 0-2 in Kildare. Darren McKenna with both.

The precedent would give Athlone a 3 point deduction but Waterford would gain nothing.

That's the rule as far as I know it as well, unless it has been changed recently.
Again I will say I think this story got blended with the Wexford-Limerick one as they were being circulated with the upshot that both of us 'got awarded' points.

From what I recall the rule states that the "points MAY be awarded to the opposition."
I see.
We're after passing them on to Limerick anyway.
4-1 now, Limerick rampant, game is over.

Both teams visited Flancare recently and Limerick genuinely impressed me a good deal more even though Waterford beat us 3-0 and Limerick 2-1. Limerick are playing really good football at the moment.

Dundalk know all too well. Beaten us 2-0 twice in last two meetings. We also lost 4-1 in Limerick last year so we know Waterford's pain :o

They seemed pretty sure they're going to be awarded the two extra points from the Athlone game. The players were told before the game and the radio guys kept saying 'we're up to 60 points now'!

That's a terrific win. ( keeps Bray in the Zone going into the last 3 weeks of the season.)
I knew Jay o'Shea was on International duty for the postponed game win St. Pat's, as the Pat's game was called off did Bray have to clear the player since?

on behalf of all Bohs fans everywhere, regardless of race, colour or creed, i would like to categorically state how utterly proud we feel as a club and as human beings to have such a record against Derry City FC. You are a class team, a real cut above the rest and we are just thankful to have taken two points from you.
Such a record against the mighty candystripes is something that we can only hope, god willing, to improve on in the future. Please god next year we can forget about such matters as winning leagues and match Derrys achievement of finishing as also rans and winning the League Cup. Who knows maybe we can even get a nice big drum to bang, or is that just hoping for too much, too soon?
All hail Derry, easily the best team this year.

No really; I had to leave early, but it's all they were talking about in the bars in Dalyer tonight, honest. The league trophy was quietly put away like the embarrassing gee-gaw that it is and a 'buy a big drum (like Derry)' committee was formed from the ashes of the NBB....
