So if he was not suspended then why put someone elses name on the matchcard. this is an offence in itself

"If a player gets sent off in a match it's an automatic one match ban with no exceptions."

Don't think thats what it means Sly.
We had a B team player who was sent off in a B team game. Last weekend he was allowed to play FAI with us (even though he didn't get a game) but not the league game for the B team.
I clarified this with the league last week.

Good stuff... All is fine then. I just get more and more confused by these suspension rules every year...In my eyes they change from week to week.

I presume that the lower division matches will be called off if the wet weather continues?....

Maybe lazylegs it was a genuine mistake. Maybe the reporter just knew the first name and presumed it was the great Mickey Burns that was playing up front.:o

the lads who take the pictures write down the numbers of the players in them and then get the matchcard, and theres no way that two papers were wrong

avenueC

putting things in perspective, even the big papers get names in pictures wrong
one small example would be a picture of cristiano ronaldo ( a fairly recognisable chap playing for a fairly well known club) and the caption under it saying ryan giggs wins the ball..

wasnt there a big furore last season bout a lifford player in a similair situation, sent off in one clare cup game i think( i stand to be corrected) but could play the next league game cos they lost that cup game..

put the issus to bed guys and try to not let the bad mindedness and bitterness towards avenue surface, cos im sure some of ye would be thinking in the back of yer minds that it woud be great to punish them, and im sure some of ye have already reported back to yer clubs hoping that they will follow it up

Best of luck to all for the weekend trip to Donegal. From what i hear I think Brendan Rochford sustained a bad injury lately and wont be fit to play. I think its a good squad with a good mix of youth and experience though. Good luck;

just wondering do ye think there is anyone not in squad that should be..

here's a few i taught of..
mickey mahoney(avenue) mike hoey(moher)trevor maxwell(bridge utd)g deegan(bridge utd) g flynn(avenue)d aherne(bridge cel)d cullinan(newmarket)jocks(rineanna)m devitt(bunratty)

As far as I know Jim Madden picked the squad as no manager was in place early in the season. The managment have since added a few players.

Best of luck to them. Long trip to Donegal in fairness. Anyone know if its an overnight stay or up and down on Saturday.

Q - how can the "management team" leave out the likes of Pa Fahy / Eoin Hayes / Seamus Lawlor / Stephen Kelly / Ger O Connell / Roberto { lifford } Garoid O Connell - along with the others - what happened to the trials , fair chance to everyone - some clubs seem to get the extra players depending on who the manager is - i.e Bunratty 6 players ??

In saying the above I'm sure that the squad of players will give a good account of themselves - Best of luck lads

We just have to remember that they cant have everyone on the panel. We all have our opinions on who should and should not be on it. A lot of the lads you have mentioned have not played much soccer cos of hurling ect so far this season.

Nice to see a few new faces involved this year and a few of the younger players coming through as well. For years it was the same 15-16 lads no matter who was performing well.

In relation to Greg (31) and Maxi (29), they are still performing very well for us and I am sure they would hold there own at county level but I'm guessing if they haven't been called up before they are not going to get the call this year. Greg especially who has probably been one of the most consistent performers for Bridge and Newtown over the last 10-12 years but was never called up to OT.

Good luck to the lads on Saturday, strong squad who I'm sure will get us a result.
Are Brendan Rochford and David Russell not injured??

Ya best of luck, Donegal League will be no push overs. They will have alot of players from Redcastle on their squad and from experience Redcastle are a good footballing side with some very good players, they are very fit and will compete for every ball. Is a long haul (6 -7) hours so that will deff go against Clare. Pitch (if played in Redcastles place is great) so good for passing game.

Surely the OT team isn't picked over the course of 2 months football - I'm sure the managment team who would be involved in their own teams don't get the full picture of what is available to them - there are players on the OT that can't even make their own club teams - is is a case of "just full-filling the fixture" or have they any inhabitions of seriously competing for a place outside the group stages ? -

Donegal 1-1 Clare

Went 1-0 down on 60 minutes. Should have been a free out. Jimmy Houlihan equalised on 80 minutes with a great finish. Played really well and deserved to get a result.

Big one for the Reds need the points - it will be tough in Rineanna -
Top of the table clash with the Rats and Lifford - 2 footballing sides both well represented on the Oscar panel !!!

The reason been here is training was called for this thursday night and all panel were expected to attend,,some managers and coaches of there club teams could not be happy with this situation as they are trying to prepare for there own important league matches this Sunday,,I for one do not think this is fair to call a training session for a thursday when all club teams are trying to win league games that are just as if not more important than the oscar traynor. Some people seem to forget about clubs preparation when it comes to the Clare set up

Come out of the fog planners. 4-1 is a bit much to be asking considering ye are not the most attacking team around. Everyone here will agree that ye have good footballers but they also know that ye are a battling team that wil make sure of a close game. If you are so confident you should put your money where your mouth is. ye are 2/1 in newmarket bookies i hear

Currently the team seems to be going from strenght to strength both in confidence and numbers - with good turn out at training etc it should be a good game - worried about the ref though -
a quick one in relation to OT - if it were not for the clubs there wouldn't be an Oscar team - players have to commit to the clubs first

i think you'll find Planners isn't a Rover!!! local derbies never have more than the one goal in it! Newmarket will be well up for it, thats for sure. they might sneak it 2-1

This means that amateur players would be training for 3 nights and playing on the sunday. I can see what the clare league are trying to do as sometimes players are not interested in over commitment and would see 3 nights as too much and may not bother turning up.
Unless 1 team has most of their players on it then having training on a night clubs train is quite sensible....

Weren't lads combining GAA Training and footie training during the summer and training at least 3 nights aweek. As Planners said the clubs are the Lifeblood of the Clare League and for them to be trying to dictate to teams what nights they can take players is wrong.Bunratty had 5or 6 players so it would really affect their training.

Yeah i suppose they do.Nway do we really need an Oscar Traynor team.Couldnt the Clare League spend the money involved in running it some other way.I mean clubs are forking out 100 euro to help the Youths League which at the moment is only 9 teams.Surely money saved from having no OT team could improve football standards in Clare??
