Old git it might have been a friendly, but if you were there you'd have seen that both the A's and Bumble Bees were takin it very serious, a lot of pride at stake!!!:D Good game played in good spirits, better team on the day won. Lifford A are shakin in their boots I'd say!!!

Does the Clare League realise that the country is in a recession? Our club got two fines in the door during the week fining two players 40 euros each for accumulating three yellow cards. The fact that alot of people are losing their jobs and with unemployment looks like rising to 12% before the end of the year how can the league justify this rule.

Fair enough if it is a red card you get a fine, but for three yellows????? Come on especially if you don't get on with a ref you can get three yellow cards quite easily over a couple of games.

Have any other clubs got these fines lately?? I personally think that is out of line, any thoughts?

i assume all clubs were advised of rule & fines before sason started  if so not a lot you can do .. but 40 euro for 3 yellow cards seems very harsh.. at this rate you will either have the ritchest league in ireland or no players left as they cannot afford to pay fines ..:D getting very expensive now to play an amature game .. start of season 40 euro to register to league and heard a few clubs also charging memberships .. pay for training twice a week / match on sunday .. for a so called amature game it is getting very expensive ... would be very intresting to know what is being done with all this money league are making everyyear with registration fees / fines.. we have a so called county grounds out in doora which is used only every so often how many finals were not played on our pride n joy in doora last year

good one old git... what happened was we held the mighty lifford scoreless until close to end of firsthalf, 1 down at the break and a few of the boys dropped their heads for rest of the game n it finished 5-0.

no just jokin the real story was we had a team meeting before the game and said that we'll lose this game so we can concentrate on the league title as we had heard we were down to travel to newmarket next weekend for a must win tie for us if we are to have a chance of winnin the title

maybe you should go to a clare league meeting and then you might hear where the money goes..and if you have a problem then ask about it..

do you think the clare league give a s**t what i or anybody else thinks ... would not waste my time on them. :D

Was at the game as a Neutral.First half was nip and tuck.Soft first goal for Lifford which they just about deserved.Bunratty look a good side.Nice and Balanced.Fitness levels were probably the major difference between the teams. One thing I will say is that the lifford manager was an absolute disgrace. His comment about injuring a Bunratty player was nothing short of a disgrace. His players started to take his view on things by really taunting the opposition (3rd division). It is a poor reflection on Lifford.Fantastic facilities but sadly no Class on or off the field shown by players or Management.

Shame on you Lifford

Well done to Lifford on their win. No doubt the better team won but 5-0 was a bit harsh on us.

Have to agree on the comments about Lifford and their manager. Was shocked to hear some of the stuff he was sayin. I only knew after the game that he was mouthing to Bunratty players all thru the game. Bit sad really when a man sinks to this level...might be more in his line to try win a trophy for once.

Whats funny is that Lifford have a sign in the away dressing room saying to respect all players managers and referee's...

I wonder if the same sign is in the home dressing room???

Also worth mentioning that the Clare People felt it necessary to mention in their match report that the ref had to speak to the Lifford manager during the game.

Anyway that game is over and best to luck to Lifford above in Liscannor in Round 2.

can't give an opinion on the lifford's managers behaviour but i must disagree with this type of behaviour by the lifford management if it is true. although i do not know how it all started ,there must be another side to the story.
as for lads printing these ethics on here... maybe you can show them to the current bunratty players. i had one of them spit on me during a game, the most disgusting thing that any opponent has done in all my time playing sport

Can I just ask the Question Plastic Pitch.Did this incident happen last Sunday or was this a previous run in you had with a Bunratty Player?I happen to Know the Bunratty B manager and If he thought that one of his players had done something like this then action would be taken

well it did happen and i would have no problem standing in front of a judge if i had to. i can imagine that the player in question would be quite embarassed after doing it... he is lucky i didn't break his jaw but that would have been exactly what he wanted for me to get sent off.
dave hogan who was bunratty's captain that day and i went and showed him his team mates doing... he was to say the least disgusted, if ya want a witness talk to dave!!
ok... so nobody is perfect i didnt mention this incident until now on this site because of all this s**t talk about lifford from bunratty. it is a pity when players and opposing managers get into a slagging match but it happens all the time for whatever reason

I dont think you will be in front of a judge for the incident C...:D

However I agree its an awful thing to do.

Also, where is the s**t talk from Bunratty on here... If you were at the game last Sunday you would have seen the behaviour of yere manager. Even some of the Lifford players were not happy with him.

As I have said earlier best team won and best of luck to them in Round 2. Now I have no more to add to this topic.

Well done to Rineanna last night. Beat Granville 2-0 in MJC. Away to Fairview or Ballyvolane (Cork AUL) in next round.

Bridge United A v B not on til following week and I ain't calling it. Could go all the way I think. Two fairly balanced squads to be honest.

Elsewhere I expect Bunratty to overcome Avenue, Newmarket V bridge Celtic to go all the way to pens and wins for Lifford B, Rovers, Tulla, MtShan, Kilkishen, Tage, Bridge Celtic B, Rhine and Kildysert.

the league looks like a 2 horse race betwwen avenue and bunratty and after their cup game i reckon avenue are a better side but this victory could haunt them if they have a good run in the cup:confused: i can see newmarket focusing merely on the cup so i think they have a good chance or else an underdogg call could be lifford B either way avenue wont be without silverware this season

What a win for Rineanna yesterday - pity about the attitude of the Burren players all they wanted to do was kick fellas - - Rats lost - only the league to play for now , seems the wheels might be coming off ? all up to Ave now
Good luck to all on Sunday against Fairview - last 8 looks good -
still in 3 cups

Huge game this Sun between Avenue & Bunratty in the league.
Avenue have edge after their cup win. Bunratty failed to take their chances & played very good football. Their only focus is the league now & they will be too experienced to slip up, as everyone is saying they will.

bunratty were trying to play football yesterday but like lifford they lack a certain amount of guts to win tough matches. Rats are stil favourites for league and deservedly so as there early season form was superb but I think if Avenue get a win on sunday we are in pole position.

o look the arrogant avenue lads are back..the bunratty lads have alot more guts than ye avenue guys.and they'll prove it by winning the league this year...ye wouldn't be anywhere only for the fact ye have 2 or 3 refs on your side.always getting dodgy decision..ennis refs reffing ennis teams is crazy..

No arrogance just an honest opinion based on a number of big matches such as the cup final last year for example.
2 or 3 refs on yer side? what do u base that dribble on? the fact we got a penalty yesterday is it. I dont think it would be possible for the clare league to arrange that every match in every division is reffed by a "neutral referee" as there are so many teams from ennis in all leagues etc. Either way i dont think avenue get any special treatment from any ref. No more so than yer goodselves. I hope we see some of that fighting talk on sunday;)

Oh take a break Special1 !. If you were at the game yesterday you would have seen that the lack of guts was the main reason that the rats failed to win. They played the better ball and the penalty was very harsh but it was not given because of the link with ennis, it was given because the player in question is targeted in my opinion. the standard of football was very poor i thought and it was the battling qualities of Avenue that allowed them to see the result out.

come off it LazyLegs, lack of guts wasn't anything to do with our defeat on sunday, avenue had the rub of the green and were gifted a penalty by martin obrien to set them on their way. you know as well as anybody that the first goal in a clare cup tie is crucial and normally the team who get it win. it was a shockin decision to say the least and booking the player for the 'foul' was scandalous. i do agree with you that he is targeted alright. more like the 12th man of avenue(m.obrien) allowed them to see the result out. We will be keeping a close eye on newmarket's 'guts' for the rest of the cup seeing as ye have been dethroned as league champions. hope ye do us a favour or two against the battling gutsy avenue when ye play them in the league

just have to comment on this so called gift of a penalty, i was at it, and unlike arsene wenger i actually saw it, they both had a hold of each other going into the box and bunratty guy then pulled him down even more ( if possible) on edge of 6yrd box., it wasnt the most straight forward of pens but to call it a gift is a joke, so lets get over the fact that bunratty were robbed by the ref(12th man my arse)
as for 1st team to score is crucial, a lot of times maybe, ( bunratty were 2 up last season and that went to pens vs avenue. yr before rineanna were 2 up vs avenue and that wnt to pens!) so maybe the battling qualities are more important then playin the better football in games.
but its always a gripe that who ever loses always blames the ref for a defeat.( most clubs do avenue included) the ref is far from a biased ref, so to call any of them pro avenue is another joke.
finally best of luck to rineanna on sunday,
