Home to Kilmallock, we couldn't have asked for better to be honest. Might be a tough game all the same but at least they aren't an unknown package and we're at home. How are they doing in 1A this year?
Fair Play

Tough draw for us but really looking forward to it. Castlebar will start as favourites but we will be well up for it and we have home advantage!
Are they top in Mayo League at the moment?
The Mayo league is a Summer league and is now over with Celtic finishing third. The teams are only playing in FAI and Connacht Cup competitions now and they are unlikely to be as fit as you guys. If Celtic play their young guns that won the FAI Youth Cup last season they should give you a good game, but home venue is a clear advantage for you.

Are they top in Mayo League at the moment?
No we (Westport) won the league and a cup, Castlebar won the other cup, but with cup finals, league games , Junior Cup and Connacht cup have kept them playing up to now, they will be fit and will add many of their FAI U21 Squad to the panel. They will be a good team, be prepared for them.

And ashling? Can't wait to here why ashling are 9/1...
Pike have beaten 2 of the better teams in limerick so far(in fairview and carew) and Ashling/balla have beaten whom?
That said I'm gonna see if I can get the paddy power odds today,I'll probably take pike at 16/1 too...too good to turn down.Didn't know ladbrokes did the fai odds, being an english company and that.
Edit: going on the draw I'd assume..
Aisling are probably getting those odds because we got to the last 16 in last years FAI and the quarter final the year previous?

Difficult tie. But will look forward to the Tralee challenge. I presume they are the top team in Tralee & Kerry?
Lisselton would be top team in Kerry ATM IMO after beating Tralee Dynamos and Killarney Celtic recently, they can both play and mix it up if necessery as u wud expect a kerry side wud.
Tralee Dynamos play really neat football and wud be the best ball playing team which will help them at these stages in the fai cup, best of luck dynamo.

Are they top in Mayo League at the moment?
No, Westport would be the top team in Mayo at the moment, even though we played them three times this season winning two and drawing the other. Based on our current from (justed managed to overcome a Div 1 team in last Rd) and lack of weekly games and home advantage Tralee will be clear favourites. Celtic has concentrated on the Eircom U-21 this season and have no settled side. We are looking forward to the trip. Do you have a clubhouse bar, hope so.

Anyone know anything about St Patricks at 40/1, I can see they beat Galway Hibs and Salthill Devon in the last round, both of which were won on penos. I can see their league form is not great and the strong results are all at home.
Whats their set-up in terms of pitch, club house, general all round set-up?there a very avearage 1st div side in galway, they beat a very understrength hibs side away from home and they beat salthill at home who aren't half as strong as last year, having said that there capable of beating barcelona at home, send down your c team ye mite have some chance, but if you send down lads that can play forget about it,they have no dressing rooms and you have 2 go through 2 fields to get to the field(pitch)it'll prob be the worst pitch ye have ever played on or will ever play on,and thats been very nice about it!

Someone sensible explain why Ballanty and ashling annacotty are 3rd(joint second) and 4th favourites...When Pike Rovers(current Munster Junior champions) are 16/1...
Is this real? I seriously doubt it...
Because Pike have to play Portmarnock and Balla have to play Kilmallock, therefore Balla have the easier tie and therefore currently Balla should have a better chance of winning the FAI. Now can you get your head around that at all?

And ashling? Can't wait to here why ashling are 9/1...
Paddy power heard ashling were given ye a hiding, beating ye 2 or 3 nil 6 or 7
weeks ago only for them to loose the heads and concede a couple of soft goals late on in the game ,so ye could barely scrape a draw
The match I saw Pike went 1 down in 1st ten mins that woke them up..were 4 1 up with 2 mins to go (could have been 6/ 7)and AA were given a soft peno in the last min....that said did you ever know a bookie to be wrong.

Anyone associated with, or know anything about New Ross Celtic. We drew them away. What is the standard of the Wexford league like? Another Munster Senior League team were also drawn against Wexford opposition in Forth Celtic.
This is the current Wexford League Premier table:
COURTOWN HIBS 9 5 3 1 16 9 18
DUNCANNON 7 4 2 1 17 4 14
NEW ROSS CELTIC 6 4 1 1 14 7 13
CAMPILE UNITED 5 4 0 1 11 7 12
WEXFORD BOHS 8 3 3 2 9 8 12
ROSSLARE RGS 10 2 4 4 12 18 10
SHAMROCK ROVERS 9 2 2 5 12 14 8
FORTH CELTIC 5 2 1 2 8 7 7
NORTH END UTD 7 0 5 2 8 13 5
AJAX ATHLETIC 8 0 1 7 6 26 1
Ross Celtic traditionally one of the strongest sides in Wexford. Will play a good brand of football too. Forth are fairly new to the top division and wouldn't expect them to be nearly as good. Ross are current Premier champions. Club history is here (http://www.newrossceltic.com/pages/clubHistory.jsp) they won the Leinster Junior cup in 1982 and lost in FAI junior final in 1994.
Standard of the Wexford League is decent but not great. An awful lot of hoofball teams.

The key to this competition is the last 32, because if you can make it by home refs and hard away teams, the last 16 stage allows you to arrange neutral referees and linesmen.
But lets not talk about that stage yet, im sure any galway team will want to do a dublin team:eek:
At this stage, a home draw is vital. Limerick refs tend to be fair enough apart from the odd game.
I've seen Athenry (v Fairview) and Galway Hibs (v St Michaels) in Galway over the last few years. Fairview won even though they were screwed. Michaels lost in what could only be described as unbelievable decisions by a ref who was an ex Hibs player. If this is the usual standard in such ties, I would be worried.
Portmarnock are not the team they were, should be ok for Pike.

We played them in Dublin, they are a big physical team, they score most of their goals from set pieces. The ref on the day was biased to say the least. If pike can control set piece situations they should be ok.

Leveller I think youre a Westport man? and we beat you fair & square that day. Dont be digging up the old Hometown Ref arguments, or you'll get me really started. From what I can see over many years experience in Junior Cup, there are as many Dub teams whinging about country refs as there are vice versa. Good sides will win through anyway.

Clare must be the only place where the hometeams complain about the bias of the refs to the visitors benefit!!
Thats why its called Clare of the Welcomes.

this should be good:-)if your lucky, they might borrow the changing rooms of the local gaa team especially since ye are travelling a long distance, the pitch actually is big enough,it's not too tight,it's full of hills up's and down's bumps everywhere,it gets very soft underfoot and you won't believe this on one side of the pitch, theres a big branch of a tree sticking out on too the pitch about 15 feet high and sometimes it actually keeps the ball in play when you think it's in fact going out of play, haven't seen them play this year, but i'd imagine the pitch is much the same!they'll be route one all day looking for a few breaks here and there and also very physical!

Its just i remember a few years back that a player who should have been in the LSL oscar traynor squad was left out - the rumour that went round that it was because of him playing EL U21 months previously. Then his team won the semi of their league cup only to be protested against and thrown out again because of his EL U21 involvement!
Maybe just a misinterpretation of rules by LSL ? But it wasn't an "Eircom League" league club he played for if you know what i mean

anyone come across balally utd from the united church league in dubland of late ?? they're coming to the seaside in cork this w/e and we'd like to give them nothing but a toasted prawn samwich and some kinsale lager for their return trip to the pale
looking at the weather forecast, the pitch in kinsale should be in reasonable nick (apart from the usual bumps) but usual wind is almost a dead cert
any of ye limerick lads fancy a trip down to the sunny south coast for the last 32 ?? should be lovely in january, bring yer jumpers cause sometimes it gets chilly, thats provided we do the bidness against balallalllalllly
