Killester and Michael's to win ( depressing thought)

I take it its no mean feath reaching the semi's of the munster senior cup.

have you improved much or brought in many new faces since the last time you played the lads in Killester?

Great result for Killester, scrappy game, wind was strong across the pitch. Killester were the better side, Clonmel had a good spell in the second half but couldnt hit the side of barn.

The best team went through.

Second goal for Killester broke the Clonmel spirit and that was that.

Andy Fitz had a great game:-)

Accurate enough. The Town defence just could not cope with the pace of the Killester front two who are about the best centre forward pairing to play in Clonmel in recent years. Town did have a great second half and at times caused panic in a shaky looking defence. I thought the game deserved extra time because of the honesty of effort from both sides. Three yellow cards; one for handball that led to the penalty in second minute, the other two for mistimed but not malicious tackles.

I understand that one of Killester's centre halves was on a stag and that may go some way to explain their at times shaky defence; Clonmel's defence was shaky all the bloody time.

Good cup tie; better team won; could have been so different if Clonmel had scored during their purple patch in second half.

Not even Carrick can beat this Killester team and I wish them luck. It will make for a great final if its Killester and Carrick. Probably the two best junior sides around.

Carrick United will face the winners of the quarter-finalists (http://www.fai.ie/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2957), Castlebar Celtic and St. Michaels FC while Dublin's Corduff will await the winners of Clonmel Town and defending champions, Killester United.
Assisting with the draw was of the FAI Junior Council Secretary, Dennis Cruise and Republic of Ireland, Junior and Amateur International manager, Gerry Smith.
FAI Umbro Junior Challenge Cup Semi-Final Draw

Is it just me or are carrick a bit over-rated?? came to limerick last year and got beat by a bad corbally team 5-0.. and this year 3-1 by ashling???

Hate to say I told you so but Killesters name on it again this year.

Ross Carrick (regular centre half) was away on his own stag I believe.

No disrespect to the other semi finalists but if Killester can get past Corduff (which is by no means guaranteed) then they have it in the bag.

Ah well at least the fortnight in the sun paid for by my winnings will make up for it for Dr Mad (beats Kilmuckridge).

i fairness there was a bit of a problem behind the scenes last year and they was even a doubt they would take the field that day ,i would put it down to a freak result.but fron what iv seen of carrick the last 4/5 years thay are definetly overated and discipline always seems to let them down

Thats only if you can catch them, you have no idea of the pace of the KILLERS front men.

I hate to say I told you so, but I TOLD YOU SO!

Micka and Lacey are like olympic sprinters and can even play a bit of ball:D

Ross(Centre half) was away on his stag, half the team had booked to go but didnt, but then thats the type of commitment the Killester boys have.

Well done Celtic, a scrappy enough match which Celtic did enough to edge. Celtic lost Stevie Ryan (centre half) and Mick Wallace (keeper) in 2nd half but both replacements did well, McNicholas making a very good save to keep Celtic in the front.

St Michaels keeper made a wonderful save before the corner which lead to the goal.

Very impressed with Pricey and Bourkey.

Another tough trip ahead for us but if its for us this year it wont pass us ;)

Commiserations & congratulations to ‘Town on a spirited yet eventually fruitless display yesterday. While Killester were probably worthy winners I don’t think it’s because they were the better team on the day – just that they have a couple of top class strikers who scared the bejaysus out of the Town centre halves and eventually made hay! I thought apart from what we knew beforehand to be a suspect centre of defence the rest of the team more than matched their Killester counterparts with the centre of midfield particularly impressive. But of course it’s hitting the back of the net that counts and apart from the goal Town didn’t have any other clear-cut chance while Killester had at least 3. Best of luck to Killester for rest of competition because despite a couple of idiotic posts last week about them being ‘kicked up and down the pitch’ by ‘Town there wasn’t a bit of dirt by either team yesterday.
(Good to be able get in close to the pitch for the game yesterday – definitely gives a better buzz to the game – should be kept like this.)

Firstly congratulations to Killester on their win and best of luck in the semi's. As for being the better side, thats highly debatable. I thought the first half the two sides were fairly evenly matched and that "good spell" that Town had in the second half lasted for 25 minutes, a period of time in which Killester were camped in their own half and hanging on by their fingertips. If Town had taken their chances then it was game over but if never was and Town paid the price for not making the most of their domination. Killesters two speed merchants up front are frightningly quick and will be a handful for any defence. However to offer a glimmer of hope to the other remaining sides, their defence is slow- evidenced by the fact that our centre forward( not exactly linford christie) outran them all day. Any remaining side with genuine pace up front could cause mayhem for the back four. All over for another year for Town but the magic thing about football is that we get to try again next year. :D

Utd are getting motivational sessions, and talks on getting in the right frame of mind before big games from the great Sean Kelly, seems they are not going to make the same mistake as last time when they were only worried about playing Killester in the final and overlooked the fact they had to beat St John Bosco in the semis first ....i have a feeling they will do it this year

Only guessing but would assume he’s referring to their ability and quite regularly desire to turn every game into a niggly and bad tempered scrap. It’s is always disappointing to see this as they are probably the best team I have seen over the last 5-6 years not to have won an FAI without having to resort to at times questionable antics. Maybe they’ve learned from their previous big cup matches where the indiscipline of one (in particular) or two players has cost them. I would still tip them – but more so if ‘Fizzy’ was back alongside Dil – what’s the latest there.

When Carrick played Redcastle they wanted an earlier kick off time. When Redcastle refused Carrick said that it was for health and safety reasons. They said that their members had to go to work the following day.Arriving home late after a long journey could make them a liability at work the next day.I wonder how many of them go to the pub at night and go to work the following day. That would be more of a health and safety matter. They should have been home in good enough time.because they never bothered to come in for tea and sandwiches which were provided by Redcastle. They also wanted to have the gate receipts counted at half time. And to finish it off they made a complaint to the Inishowen Football League Committee about their fans getting heckled. What nonsense.Cmon Castlebar, do us a favour.

i was up in redcastle a couple of weeks ago with pike and have to say they were some of the best people i have ever come across.they could,nt do enough for us either the night before or after the game.on the other hand we have been to carrick on 3 occassions in the last 5 years and every time there has been an unsavioury incident.and as for their supporters been heckled ,the one time we did win in carrick our supporters and players were pushed and shoved off of the pitch at the finish it was an experience i will never forget.and correct me if im wrong but a couple of clubs have not returned from carrick with very good reports

just another word on Carrick Utd, look at the supporters going to the games the same crowd every time they dont have the full support of the whole town and there are a couple of reasons for this but the main one is the way they think they are above everyone"the Elite" as they are known in Carrick seem to have forgotten where they came from and the hard work done by people to get them where they are today,i would like to see them win the cup but a Lot of people in Carrick would love to see them fall flat on their faces..

just a quick word of advice to castlebar,if ye score the 1st goal ye will win cos carrick will lose the plot and think the whole world is against them.once they are taken out of their home patch they turn into mice when things go against them.i know the game is on in waterford but most waterford people will want them to lose cos they think they are superstars down there
