Doyle is in advanced talks with Middlesbrough, according to Sky Sports.

Good enough I suppose. I think he's a still a good player and could still cut it a top end of Championship and lower EPL.
I still stand by my opinion that he's better than Bendtner. :)
Anyone who saw Bendtner against Coventry would probably agree.

There are loads of players playing at PL level who have similar goalscoring records to Doyle; Maiga, Graham, Jones, Jerome, Odemwingie... Do they contribute as much in overall play? I don't think so.
It's really disappointing how he is faring in League One but he is playing on the flanks more than as an out and out striker, like Griffiths.
The links with Middlesbrough, Leeds and Reading show how much he is still valued. His record last season (1 in 4) wasn't that disastrous.

I think he and Long look better as a pairing than either of them has with Keane. Admittedly I'm including seeing them against Oman as part of my opinion.

You could have left out Coventry and "Anyone who saw Bendtner" , would have sufficed

Doyle is staying put, whether he likes it or not.
Whelan also staying put, according to Hughes.

Dam, just checked to see if he was playing and saw he had scored.
Was header, no surprise there, I think he headed in a corner, well not quite
Goal! Queens Park Rangers 1, Burnley 0. Kevin Doyle (Queens Park Rangers) header from the left side of the six yard box to the centre of the goal. Assisted by Niko Kranjcar with a cross following a corner.
Not seen it but I know they type of goals he gets, glancing headers often, just see it actually header from the the near post level into the centre of the goal, typical doyle
And Richard Dunne scored!! Some sort of balletic volley effort I think (well about as balletic as Dunne can get anyway).
Sort of hooked in volley.

If you told me that Kevin Doyle could be playing Premier League football next season last month, I probably would have laughed. Things could finally be turning around for him. If QPR (second) hold on, they will go 6 points clear of Burnley.

He's visibly tired now and has lost the ball last 3 times he's got it. They should take him off before they go further behind.

Doyle is only on loan though isn't he?
So if they did get promoted he is not guaranteed to go with them.

Even if so, he is much better off with a few goals in their promotion run between now and May than whatever he might have done at Wolves. A friend of mine was at this, said he was very good first half, very good but faded visibly before coming off.

Certainly better off playing the Championship than League One, both sides are in a promotion battle
so I guess they will have to see how those pan out, hopefully QPR get promoted and they get to keep
him, worst case is he is back in League One again!

His career rejuvenation continues with an equaliser against Reading his afternoon. 1-1 atm.
GOAL: QPR 1 Reading 1
20mins - Reading pass up countless opportunities to clear the danger and, as a result, the hosts are level. Junior Hoilett escapes down the left and centres and, after a game of pinball inside the area, Kevin Doyle pounces to force home after McCarthy spills Keane's low poke.

Against all odds, Doyle bounces back from League One mediocrity to playing a pivotal part in QPR's promotion push.... and then promptly gets injured and is ruled out for 6 weeks. Back at Wolves.

John Aldridge was approaching 36 when he went to USA 94 on international 13 goals from 60 odd caps....
Bizarre that Doyle, not yet 31, already has 13 goals from 57 games, this in spite of his much reported lack of goals of late...
Conceivable he could level with or overtake Aldridge's tally of 19 and maybe even finish second highest goal scorer - Niall Quinn there at moment on 21 goals.

True.
Though Aldridge didn't make his debut for us till he was 28 (and didn't score till he was 30). Doyle made his debut at 22.

It also depends on his next move. If he moves to the Premiership with QPR he has to be playing regularly.
Hes wasted the last couple of years with Wolves for whatever reason. Hes a very under rated player, as a Celtic fan Id love to see him there but he definitely needs out of Wolves anyway

Burnley after Lukas Jutkiewicz (who is supposedly eligible) and Danny Graham.
Graham has 1 goal in his last 34 Premier League games ffs.
How the hell are either of them a better option at this level than Doyle? Burnley have been credited with an interest in Doyle in the recent past. If they want to sign someone that can bag 10-15 a season at Championship level - at least - then OK, but Graham and Jutkiewicz? They have never done it at any level. Doyle has the PL and International experience, better workrate, hold up play and a goal return that isn't much worse than theirs at all; better in the PL even.
Edit: I suppose, theoretically, Doyle could be on wages that greatly exceed what Jutkiewicz in particular, and Graham, are earning.

To be fair to Aldridge, his job was to run to the corners and collect the balls knocked in there by the fullbacks and get it in to the box to the attacking midfielders.
It was a very different role to his in-the-box predator job at Anfield

Doyle's record isn't too shabby either, for someone who is basically there to try and help Robbie score.

If you look at their club records you see the difference, Aldridge was get a goal about every other game, Doyle is about 1 in 4.
