Can anyone better that I'll be wrecked!
If anyone wants to meet up, for a few pints on the Wednesday night at Great Southern Hotel, before flying out the next morning let me know.

I stayed in the Sheraton last week for two nights. Great hotel right on the beach. When you come out if you turn right, Molly Blooms pub is about 300 metres on the left. Execellent guinness at about 4 yoyos a pop and it has tables outside so you can enjoy the sun while having your beer.

Heya all,

Two more usefull Hebrew phrases for Irish fans coming over...

"Hetzi Guinness, Bevakasha" - A pint of Guinness, Please (Actually, means "half a Guinness", as here it's calculated by Litres)

"Od Ahat Bevakasha" - Another one please.

Here are a few important things:

If you're traveling on a train, keep your ticket - you'll need it for occasional ticket control and to get out of the station! You'll not be able to get out of the station without the ticket and you'll have to pay a fine!

When traveling on a bus, enter only from the front door and buy the ticket from the driver (I think they accept only NIS). Keep the ticket till you get off the bus! Occasional ticket control may occur.

Hitchhike only at your own risk and preferably don't do it!

Good points about trains and busses.
And another useful point about payment in public transportation: if you are a university student don't forget to issue a international student card, because you get 10% discount in intercity bus and trains transportation (apart of TA-Jerusalem and TA-Be'er Sheva lines).
International student card also give you discounts for national gardens and historical sites.

what time does that bar close at, normal closing time is 11.30 ?

Thanks lads for the advice. Have we a venue in mind for thursday night?

Can't wait to taste Maccabi lager....

I think most hotels are around Hayrkon street? Does any one know if Molly Bloom's will show the Pats - Gypos game on Friday night?

We have to be at the airport in Dublin at 3.30am Thursday  Anyone want to meet at the airport bar at about midnight for a few scoops? No point dragging someone out of bed at that hour for a lift

and if theres no football game thursday night, you can always see a good show of basketball!...
and if not a "Maccabi beer" you can see the "Maccabi TA game"(in the Euroleague)-the european champ in basketball :p :D (if you love GOOD sport in general)

Bars here are open all night long... until 5am or so... No worries about that...

And as it was already written, hands off the Maccabi lager... tastes like a combination of American beer and horse's ****... The Goldstar is okay and very cheap, some like it, some don't... Good to drink if there's no Tuborg in the area...

Saint Tom, if you're planning on going to Dublin Airport to have a few pints be aware that the pub there stops serving at 11:30pm. When we were due to play Russia a couple of years ago we were due to fly out at 4 or 5 am and decided to go for some late pints in the airport bar prior to flying off only to be kicked out at normal closing time leaving us wandering the airport for 4 or 5 hours prior to flying off with no beer. Just a word to the wise is all.

My flight to Paris was at 4:00am, i rang the airport bar to check on last call for alcohol. He did say 11:30 but i asked him if it was ok to have a few drinks with you. ie. a few cans. He said that there was no problem. He did say though that no bottles were allowed. If you dont cause a big scene then nobody will frown upon it. Enjoy !! :D :ball:

Didnt even think about that Cowboy. Have had a beer there at 5:00 am (departures bar) when flyng to Basel (2003). How early can you check in for a flight? Thats that off the menu..... Stand up flight leaves at 6:00 have to be there at 4:00am latest i think.

Do any of the airport hotels serve late NoalnOne? Do they allow non-residents in? A few eye opening tins could be in order... Are all on the board going to this beach on Friday? what time does it start?

Actually it's calls: Burekas

it's dough pastry with a filling of potato or mushrooms or hard boiled egg , very delicious.

However, if you want to try the best burekas in Tel aviv , go to "Abulafia" bakery.

You can find there wide range of pastries , very very delicious and I guess that for you It's will be cheap.

Yes, you could talk English almost anywhere in Tel-Aviv .
As Tel-Aviv is a "small" city you could get a taxi to each and every club in around 20 NIS .
The closest club to your hotel should be the " HOME CLUB " - It is 20 meters of David-Intercontinntal hotel . In Thursday they should play rap, dance and house ( opening doors 11:30 PM , 50-60 NIS )

In TLV there will be only a party on Friday and not on Thursday .
The Friday night party will be a Purim party . The music will be house to club trance . The location is : the old port and it will be between 80-100 NIS .
If you don't want to see a porn "movie" - dont come near the bathroom's there :D . the party is for 23 and older.

Weird thing's are going on here.
10 days ago everyone were saying: " Yeah , we could do this . we could take at least 4 points from two match's" which i think is a complete joke.
But from the begining of this week everyone ( I mean the press ) are lowering the expectation's and are saying that Ireland and France are wayyyy better then Israel is - which is true.

My review for the match is a draw.

well the media talks about it all day like we actually allready won but deep inside nobody thinks we can win at least not among my friends but you have to know that everybody are very exited about all the irland fans that are comming and they dressed the yarkon street with irland flags and the party is specelly for you the city of tel aviv does everything so you will ejoyed your trip.
any way i am not much of clubs kind of guy ussally I go to bars but make shure that the tlv club doesn't hold a gay party that night and maby you can consider a club called the DOM wich is allso a good one
ussally you go out to a club in israel at around 00:00-01:00 intill 06:00 or so
about Irish pubs there about six of them I think and I can name some for you
molybloos in yarkon st. - its very close to the hotels
leo blooms - I donwt the exect adress now but its 15-20 min walk from the studiom so its a good place to go before the game
in the cinema city wich is out side of T.A 10 min by taxy from the center
in herzelia there is the Dublin at Shenkar st.

have a good time in israel.

You're more than welcome!
Unfortunately, there's no public transportation whatsoever during the Shabbat. No busses, no trains... The busses start to function only on Motzey Shabbat (Shabbat exit, Saturday evening), about at 7-8 PM, perhaps the trains as well, but I'm not sure about 'em...
So if you want to visit Caesarea it is best to do that on Thursday or early on Friday.

BTW, when I was recommending an Irish pub earlier in this thread, the one that is located in the Cinema-City, I've got mixed up with the names. The pub in the Cinema-City is called "Temple" something... "Dublin" pub, as forest wrote before, is located in Herzliya. BTW, if you're visiting in Herzliya - don't forget to visit the marina! Beautiful place! And as I recall, there's a pub in there as well.

The game creates euphoria among the Israeli press, fans and what ever here.
The press gives sensation that the Israeli national team can beat Ireland,
and got realistic chance to go on to the world cup. we are also excited about
the large number of Irish fans who expect to come TA.

An improtant point about the game- The gates of Ramat Gan stadium
will be open on saturday from 17:00 pm(local time),I suggest u to come
early to prevent from stuck in traffic jam on your way to the stadium,
and then u will be able to take a good sit.

to understand the atmosphere here, I translated for you interviews with Israeli players Yossi Benayoun (racing santander from Spain) and Avi Nimni (beitar Jerusalem).
Benayoun, the best Israeli player right now, said: "Let's be serious, you forget who we play against. Ireland is a better team than Israel, but it doesn't mean that we can't pass them. it will be hard, its not yossi banayoun against the Irish team, it's all the israeli national team".

Nimni, who still doesn't know whether he will be on the starting line up or not, said: "People talk about this match like it's about life or death depends on it. It is an important match, but you'll see that after this one, the next match will be "the most important" and so on for the other matches. It is important to remember always that Ireland and France are better than us in every situation".
