i honestly think the standard of soccer in the premier has declined a lot. 1A isn't great either. we played geraldines in the lawson last sunday, they're up near the top, they won 3-0 but honestly Athlunkard dominated most of the match. i was lookin forward to watchin ye on sunday but ye didn't play well at all. the standard of the game in general wasn't great i thought. i don't think ye'd have won the fai this year based on sunday

[quote=weener;1128631]Clonmel Town will win the FAI I have no doubt!
I dunno.... The Athlone team are nicely positioned as underdogs and unlike some teams left in the competition are not under estimating the tough task ahead. However, having beaten two previous winners (carrick and Westport) plus having played a Carew Pk team in 05 who were there or thereabouts who they should have beaten in the replay of the FAI 1st round proper, those experiences will stand in good stead. I have them @ 33/1 and they now stand at 6s I think. Needless to say they are also great value this week end against a fancied Lisselton Rovers.

ya i think he's injured. big loss alright. he's a good player. ye could've done with a fella with a bit of pace up front as well. robbie holds the ball up very well but he never really looked like scoring, ye didn't really get in behind them. i reckon ballymun will beat erris handy, ballymun have some very good players
Was Christy Doyle not playing?

no we beat city utd 6-0 at weekend. playing st peters this sunday. hopefully with a little luck we can get a result but st peters are obviously strong having beaten last years winners and i think they were intermediate as well back in 2004 or 2005.

ya he was playing. fairview had the better players, no doubt about that. just didn't perform on the day. erris are a big physical side and defended resolutely, no fancy stuff, just cleared it away, frustrated fairview a lot. erris had a small fella playin centre midfield, he won his battle in there and had a fine game, very quick

Do you think they will beat ballymun.

Do you think they will beat ballymun.
it'll be another close game but i reckon ballymun will shade it. i've never seen them play but i've relatives playin in dublin and they said ballymun are excellent. lot of pace about them which won't suit the erris defenders who aren't the quickest. that's what you need against a defence like erris, a fella up front to run the sh$ite out of the centre halves, keep them on their toes and win a few frees off them. the dublin lads won't fancy goin to mayo though. ballymun to win it 2-1

Ah dont get me wrong - i hope erris all the best and will def be there for the semi final as i know one or two of the erris lads :D

As for the game thought Fairview left it behind em - there only 3/4 players away from being an excellent side.

So this weekend - its the quarter final between St Peter's and Lisselton Rovers (who lost me big money last weekend but 7 out of 8 was still good but didn't take home the bacon) and the winners of this play Clonmel Town in semi final
who's going to win?
i predict St Peter's but in a very close game - 2-1 after extra time

I agree i think it will be very close but im shading a peters win 2 1 cause i think the quality of peters front 3 or 4 will shade it..lookin forward to it...

bennis, smackers (pike),glash(boro)(another young lad up at boro was very impressive at start of the season),russell(regional),lewis o' regan(wembley),clune (aisling) hickey(balla)stewart (carew) granville had a good keeper mcmahon not sure if hes up there now tho.
all better than whats up at the view at the moment.

How good are Ballymun? Iorras have got this far the hard way, 2 away games in the last 2 rounds along with beating Pike and Dublin Bus at home? Still people say they have a very ordinary side, they must be doing something right? they couldn't be getting lucky every round. Could they not go on now and lift the trophy?
i think there is a lot of people on this site being very disrespectful to Iorras, why are people writing them off, they have already beaten Pike Rvs,who as much as it hurts me to say it are the best team in Limerick this season, beat a more fancied Kinsale away on an artificial surface(i think) and beat Fairview sunday at the Fairgreen, who were odds on to win...lets give credit where credit is due,I personally hope they get to the final, maybe then they will get the respect they deserve:ball:

I've only seen erris play once, against Fairview, and Fairview were the better side, better footballers. the keeper gave away a silly goal and Fairview totally dominated the second half. personally from watching Erris on Sunday they were very average. They won't win the FAI playing like that. As for Kinsale, i heard they weren't great at all, and Pike's discipline let them down up in Belmullet

Erris have got what you cannot Coach, and that is a nev er say die attitude.I hope they dont take this as disrespectful but they dont have any star players as such, but have a tremendous will to win and work very hard for each other, they will give every ounce of effort for 90 mins. They also have a good few of thier team that won the u-18 Junior cup a few yaers ago. They have a blend of youth and experience. As a Mayo man I really would like to see them do well and hopefully go all the way.

ya you're right there in fairness. the erris lads wanted it more on sunday. they are a very physical side, not dirty, just love to get stuck in and nothing wrong with it. whether that will be enough to win them the trophy will be down to a bit of luck, it's gonna be very tough for them. the big players for fairview didn't perform on sunday, apart from Chucka, he rarely has a bad game anyway

I haven't personally but I know a man who has and they are saying Peters... but only if they can stop Lisselton scoring becasue I don't care who they were playing to score 11 goals in the last 32 and 16 of the FAI cup is some doin. A lot at stake obviously so nerves may play a part and again I would say Peters have some 'big' players, I don't mean physically, i mean experienced. Looking foward to it.

Just shows how much effort theyve put in over the winter and they seem to be getting better with every game. as a lot of people have said, they may not be superstars, but theyve definitly deserved their semi-final spot, and i can see them improving from the q-final.

Just to confirm the game with Kinsale was played on Kinsale's new pitch in Madden Park overlooking Charlsfort. Not played on one of the artificial pitches available in Cork at the moment.
There have been a few interesting comments on Iorras, but two things I see as a real compliment to them is: first opponents feeling they didn't perform, credit to Iorras for not allowing them to and second from what I can see all teams they have played have complimented them as a team and a group of supporters...

St Peters- Dont know much about them but what i have heard is that they have that experience that will stand to them.. but then again having 3 or 4 experienced players out of 11 leaves gaps open IMO.
Lisselton Rovers- with all the talk of tralee dynamos goin A league lisselton have gone about there business quietly and knuckled down and signed some decent players includind irish junior o driscoll, add experienced EL players and Kerry oscar traynor players all in to one and the side looks players and are very good.
St Peters 0-2 Lisselton
Its only my opinion going on what i have seen of lisselton and heard os St Peters
