You forgot the Munster Senior cup tie between Douglas Hall and Leeside Pass&Move or does it not qualify as a major cup?!
Douglas Hall will be red hot favourites here, our form isnt great at the minute and we are short a few.The fact that they are one of the best senior sides in the country doesnt help either so I think I'll go for a Leeside win :D

Just on the possible meeting of Leeside and Grattan in the Munster Junior Cup,
This game(if both come through their respective ties) will be played in Little Island.

norrie news time lads,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

the mossie i have been informed wont be happenin until after xmas (its my understanding that it will be played as soon as the cork teams in the fai m/mjc are in the open draw)an is supposed to be the same format as in previous years ie few teams to a group.cant see it workin that way but what the heck we'll give it a try.

Best wish's to Leeside against Doughlas in the senior an junior an I can't see either Buttervant or the Gratts bein bothered where they would have to play in the next round.......its would to just be nice to be in it

Cant see any major upsets,a few niggly games but nothin stands out

Bella an the Street lads should have a good game but Innish ye will have to be at yer best to do the Village lads in there place, they lost at home against Macroom so I would expext them to bounce back, insider advice kkep the ball away from there center backs an you may be in,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Aa I have said I cant see any major shocks happenin goin by the form side but its a cup weekend an they no doubt will be,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I just hope its not us:D

Were hoping to give ye a good run again this weeek, but were missing 5, 3 important players who played last time, balls like. Is their a oscar traynor game this weekend.

You're all over the shop Bella - haven't even got the section right !!! Also - a few players that played under Eddie O Rourke while he was Hibs manager there too - one of the Rowes and Cloakey (spelling??)

No wonder ye are doing so well Bella - Farlo was a class act when he was playing with Hibs. Dont think Danny Lucey played for Hibs under Eddie O Rourke though ( although he did play for Hibs for years). There was also a left back nicknamed Bossy playing at the time - he had some kick off a ball

We've some big players this year, conor hawes was with leeside few years back, great striker as is shane brennan, he played LOI at one stage. Farlo still top quality tbf, scored yesterday just coming back from injury so we are confident of winning something this year.

Buttevant 3 Grattan 2

Terrible match played in terrible conditions. Grattan should have scored at least seven while gifting Buttevant with their three goals. Shocking performance from the champs. Now left in three cups and also the league but that three in a row looks along way away now.
Surely just a blip in form???

The team that Hibs are using now is in effect the team that were relegated from Division 1 last year - the only reason they are still in the 1st division is because the team I was running got promoted from 2B last season! None of the players who were on the 2B side are still with the club . So its a 2nd division team playing in the first division !

As for how I ended up in Dublin Hill - there would have to be a woman involved:D . Living there for 4-5 years but was commuting (yes commuting, home games were a longer drive than most away games last year) to Shanbally . When I left Hibs it made sense to go to a club that was around the corner!! :p

Perhaps the AUL will try and convince them to change their mind! If it is true it looks bad for the league if one of the Premier teams withdraws .

Word down the anglers today was that the aul had a lot to do with the decision. Not sure in what capacity, but there was some bad vibes there.

Bad for the league, bad for the northside. Looks like there are a few players on the transfer market right now, I'm guessing Blarney Street will have their eyes on a few, Grattan maybe?

One or two really good players there and a few more solid players with years of premier experience. Could strengthen some other teams

Was talking to a member of villa after our game saturday he was furious over blarney letting the match go ahead when they were meant to play sunday morning i didnt know what was going on, but from a neutral point of view wouldnt blame any team for playing a game, instead of letting another team play while their own team gets a match called off. And the pitch was destroyed too, would have been shocked it villas game went ahead sunday morning!!!

Was at the Glenthorn V Villa game and can honestly say I thought they had a good team . Played a cup game last year against them ( with Hibs 2B side) and thought they had improved a lot as a team this year. I know the Villa manager Pat, his son used to play for me last year and I would have spoken to Pat a few times - he actually ended up sitting on the bench for the play-off game last year! A thorough gent! He will be a loss to football in Cork if he doesnt go somewhere else

just to clarify that bella what happened was we were done to play ye on sat and they were supposed to play park on sun.unfortunetley both games were fixed for fairfield.on thurs we recieved phone call from villa telling us they had called our game off cause the pitch wouldn take two games.apparentley villa were under impression that we were there tennants to them.obviously we were not too happy about this so we contacted city hall to see was this true to which we were told no way that we were both tennants to city hall.we were told no way could they call our game off or could we do it to them.it just happened that our game was fixed first for sat. had it been the other way around then we would have had to accept it and would have contacted ye to play the game in cobh. i can see why villa were annoyed but having been told by city hall that we werer equal tennants with equal priviliges we done exactly what any other team would do i think.having had no game since the previous game and having none again this week it was vital we got a game this weekend.pity about the conditions but it was poor game to be honest.neither team never got going.

Heard the same however there was more to the story apparently as I had a good chat with someone on the Villa commitee. Blarnet Street begun using the fairfield this year and both comitees met at the start of the year and came to an agreement that in a scenario such as what happened Villa had the right to protect the pitch and call a game off if they felt it was right, even to protect their own fixture. Both clubs agreed to this as part of the pitch sharing agreement. Also the AUL had in writing that if boith teams had a home game on a weekend Villa would get the Saturday fixture.

Also I was told, that Villa requested from the AUL early last week for their game to be pushed back a week to be played the week of the oscar traynor as neither they nor Park had any players involved so Blarnet Street could play their game on Saturday as the forecast was bad and they knew two games wouldnt be played on the pitch. However the AUL fixture secretary as he had in writing the initial agreement between Villa and Blarney Street and given the fact he screwed up on setting the fixture in the first place recommended that Villa had the right to postpone the Blarney Street game as per their agreemnet. Villa therefore informed Blarney Street of this on Wednesday.

Between everything else, the powers that be in the AUL on Sat morning, without informing Villa overrulled the fixture secretary and the Blarney Street game went ahead. So after following the advice of the fixture secretary they ended up with their own game being cancelled. On Sunday the pitch was completely unplayable and Villa then were told their game against Park would now be played in Mitchelstown.

This wasnt the reason they folded but it did contribute.

pacman
28/10/2008, 8:52 AM
apparentley villa were under impression that we were there tennants to them.obviously we were not too happy about this so we contacted city hall to see was this true to which we were told no way that we were both tennants to city hall.
This definitely had led to the confusion as Villa got the opposite from the same person in CIty hall at the start of the season and hence why they had that meeting with the Blarney Street commitee and submitted in writing to the AUL the process of how to set the fixtures.

No surprise there that the people in the city hall go things mixed up.

I know also that Villa arent bearing any grudges against Blarney Street over this, but rather with the AUL

olachico
28/10/2008, 10:46 AM
Got a similar story to Pacman - Villa bear no ill will against Blarney Street - if Blarney Street didnt play the fixture they would have been in trouble too with the AUL . I think the AUL have cut Villa no slack this year to be honest from what I've been hearing. I think a little common sense rather than outdated rules needs to be applied in some cases and this appears to be one of those times.

Streetscene do ye honestly trust a government officials word?? Did you not see the budget this year !!!!!!

so theres plenty of talk of villa folding but they have a home fixture against coachford next weekend ? whats the story

they offered a bit of bite that the league will miss if they have folded, the mix up with the fixtures was surely an aul boo-boo and getting the city hall involved was never gonna fix the issue, pity its gone the way it has

so does that mean the villa games and results will be squashed ? the teams that have still to play them get the points or does it happen that the teams that have already played em get the full points

we've had an eventfull few years with villa, they pushed us all the way to the last game of the season for the title a few years back, we've had our share of battles on & off the pitch but there was a few very good lads up there and its sad to see it happen if thats the case

dont think there'll be much progress between now and end of feb with the league- it'll be cup mania especially if mossie rears his head after the christmas, being out of the munster could be a blessing and the grats seem to be staying with us no matter what we do, who are the oscar team playing on thurs night ?? thurs sposed to be wet n wild so the mount mercy girls may not be there in numbers, if its wet for the week i dont fancy the pitch out the strait road either, will see ye at it if the weather is kind

no other news from the sea, jazz went well, few sore heads but fasting now for the big holiday in 8 weeks  will there be games on sat the 27th dec i wonder, good day to have a match and to shake some turkey loose  dont forget the bogroll, new smellies for the bottom of the bag will be welcome

it is sad to see villa or any other club in the aul folding as it is getting harder every year to sustain .villa will be a great loss to the aul as have been in the top flight for so many years as an one knows never an easy place to get a result.on the subject of last weeks game we got clarification off the city hall about games been called off in the fairfield.
as a club we abbided by the aul proceedure for calling games off
of getting a ref to inspect the pitch the morning of the match.
the ref on the day deemed the pitch playable so our game had to go ahead as it was the munster juniour cup.if the aul makes a mistake with fixtures or any other issiues the clubs usually suffer.since we have gone in to the fairfield we had got great help from villa and we hoped to have a long and lasting patnership.

it is sad to see villa or any other club in the aul folding as it is getting harder every year to sustain .villa will be a great loss to the aul as have been in the top flight for so many years as an one knows never an easy place to get a result.on the subject of last weeks game we got clarification off the city hall about games been called off in the fairfield.
as a club we abbided by the aul proceedure for calling games off
of getting a ref to inspect the pitch the morning of the match.
the ref on the day deemed the pitch playable so our game had to go ahead as it was the munster juniour cup.if the aul makes a mistake with fixtures or any other issiues the clubs usually suffer.since we have gone in to the fairfield we had got great help from villa and we hoped to have a long and lasting patnership.

but what really has happened is since ye have gone to the fairfield villa have folded. was it such a good move in hindsight?

Villa folding had absolutely nothing to do with Blarney Street, I know that for a fact. There was a good relationship between the two clubs.

yoda with reference to villa folding since we went to fairfield that is utter bull.there has always been two teams playing up there so thats not the issue.believe it or not we had a very good relationship with them.obviously we were two premier clubs both wanting to progress so there was rivalry but it was healthy. 2 or 3 of my close buddys are villa players and there was never any badness. just good natured banter. to suggest we had anything to do with it is actually an insult to them.obviously they had other issues themselves which is completely their business.come on man thats just nasty
