Hey lads.
Finally back up and running. For some reason i was disconnected from the internet at work but after some convincing i got them to connect me back.
Anyway a lot has happened since i've been on this last. Our A team has seen their challenge for the league drift away.Terrible defeat to Coachford 2 weeks ago and had to settle for a point against Grattan last weekend.
I was at both games and have to admit the game against Coachford was probably the worst performance from any Park team i have seen in years.
The game last Saturday was a far better performance and should have taken all 3 points especially with the 2nd half performance.
The incident at the end was unbelievable.A dog ran on to the pitch and got in the way of Willie clearing the ball. The Grattan player said he'd give it back because Park had the ball.As Willie stood back expecting grattan to knock it back, their player crossed in the ball and as our backline were left to wonder what was going on,their striker knocked it end.To say the players and management were furious is an understatement.
The B team are having a better run of it at the moment.Didnt play a game for 9 weeks and then win 2 in a row-both on pens.
Played Springfield 2 weeks ago in St Micheals cup,we eventually won 8-7 on pens after a 2-2 draw.Mayfield at home in the Quaters.
After a 1-1 draw with Waterloo on Sunday we headed for spotters again, this time coming out 4-3 winners.

Lads, we were informed last week by the AUL that 2 of our players were suspended for our game last Sunday as they had accumulated 4 yellow cards. We had no choice but to leave the 2 out of the squad as per the rules. I have no problem with this..... However, even though we knew that each card also incurs a fine, what I didn't realise was that the 1st & 2nd yellows are charged at €5, the 3rd is €10 and the 4th is €20!!!!!! That means that we have had to pay €40 per player in fines..... I really do think that this is excessive to say the least, opinions???? Also, does anyone know how much it costs to rent an all weather pitch for an hour for training on average? Cheers lads

Not entirely sure. I know there was big debate two years ago in the Munster Junior Cup when Clonmel were deemed to have played an illegal player. I think part of the issue was that different Junior competitions had different rules (I think the player/Players in question were legal in the FAI but not in the MJC)... I'm not sure if it has been standardized or not. Maybe if you try reading through the truly riveting rules on the MFA site:

Doug, I think the AUL plan to look at the values of the fines, and rightly so in the current times, but I think the concept is here to stay. Some merits in it, but it is crucifying us financially. We have asked the players to pay it and they have no bother with that. However, it is hard to ask a guy for money for training, script, tickets etc when he may be out of work.
On your other point, an all weather pitch 60/70 euro.
On the Park/Grattan canine interference, Im somewhere in the middle. Tough to take if it happened to me, but, I dont think I can blame the player either!!
Any news on the dressing rooms, littleman?
Anyone heading to the AUL game next week? Whats the best way from here to Wexford? Do we know anything about the Dubs?

In what has panned out as a very strange season for Premier teams, this weekend may be the most important of the present season.
Due to the strange results last week in the National competitions, All Teams are now back fully concentrating on the local comps. Obviously the Aoh. is the big one and this weekend will tell a lot. In our own case all we were hoping for was a home draw at this stage. Delighted to get that , And then unfortunately we get a team like Park who know doubt will want to go a step furthur than last year. What you have here is Two Prem. teams going through the motions in the league ( really with nothing to play for) . So the opportunity to progress will either make or break your season. On this note here I must give a small rant on the way The Mossie Linnane is run this year . League basis  What a joke. It will only suit the teams that are still involved in their respective leagues or the Aoh. If anyone out there reading this can do something about this , Please, Please let it be a knockout Comp. next year.

have to agree with you berba premier league is turning into a farce.. obviously we are all looking forward to the game against grattan tomorrow and will be going all out to win it of course but i think the way points were handed out for the teams that folded is all wrong. i cant understand why the aul just dont scrap all points awarded to all teams from the villa and ballyphehane games and play an extra round of league games.. but they know best i suppose..

Blarney St Ath 1-0 Grattan Utd
Good result for us on Saturday very tough game, coming into it we expected to have only 11{ stags work injuries ect} and no manager through working too but come Fiday we preformed a loaf and the fishes!!! 14 togged off manager there, with Colin Hourigan injured and Derek O C at a stag.
We stated 4-5-1 thinkin the Gratts would be 3-5-2, they went 4-4-2 thinkin we would!!! Grattan had the 1st 20 mins with the ball going up to the forward and comin straight back down, no fault of Stevie Walsh who was magnificent but 1 on 4 dont match! Harry had a header after 5 mins and Shinky from a cornior got a great leap but saved, been honest grattan didnt have any thing after that. 0-0 at half time wind behind us still not really have started and playin in to the scoring goal{ye know ye all have 1} we really felt we could win this. goal came from a great run down the right from Eoin Cremin who put in a low cross Jp came on to in flicked it up and it was a rocket after that. so real chances after that, ref blew for a few offsides for us that were dissputable but it remained 1-0 to the ended. on a side note Babbsty put Figo in his pocket the same player done the same to Varian and from what we hear International Cap could come soon. Figo was at it again drop ball tp be played back but just played on with Eoin down. didnt go down to well i can say, think sportsmanship could be gone out the window at the gratts 2 weeks on the bounce now??????????????????

Best of luck to Minty and all the gang in the OT Cup Final next saturday :ball:
We have superb ability in our forwards and attacking midfielders but do we have the ability to keep the Dublin AUL from scoring?
Cork AUL have to be going in as big underdogs... but stranger things have happened... Fingers crossed!!!
[quote=Doug89;1113090]Lads, we were informed last week by the AUL that 2 of our players were suspended for our game last Sunday as they had accumulated 4 yellow cards. i do think that referees are way too quick to hand out yellows and i may be wrong here, dont know the cost of a fella picking up cards. the way things are at the moment i cant see too many people affording to pay that especially with other costs involved, ie; script, training, insurance etc. does anyone know if the league has consulted the officials?? it would i imagine make the ref be a bit more wise to dish the cards out so flipantly. on another note the overall standard of refs is poor, i know theres a shortage but my god they are gettin well paid and the least they can do is be fair to both teams.......

I watched a dvd the other night while on a mini holiday down in Redbarn .It was called Vantage Point, the idea of the show was that it took different views of the same action an gave an all round veiw or verison of what actually went on.Good show an a good idea. You may well think im either losin me mind or i should be on the DVD review thread but im ok,just attempting to help prove my point further on.
Cass i agree with the majority of your points you gave, again a decent honest review of the game for the most part.Grattan turned up for the game but never turned up during the game if those reading this follow me.We have been turning up to games all season an teams expecting one thing of us have for the most part bar the odd game got something very different.
I watched the game Saturday too an in the first half I thought we shaded it an should have gone in maybe 1 or 2 up if we had of taken our chances, but we didnt an as I watched the game with a person whos opinion on football I regard very highly we both came to the opinion that with all the chances we missed it looks more likely that Blarney St would nick one,an they did.Fair dues.No problem with that.Blarney St for me defended very well an attacked on the break again very well,we had the majority of possesion throught the game but more often than not wasted it.You cold say the pitch had a part to play in it but at times we tried to hit the first time pass an stretch them rather then takin a 2nd touch to kill the ball an then puttin a quality ball in or through. Our own fault in the end.
Cass again you made the point that Babbs had (who I rate as the best full back in the Aul)had Figo(who I rate as the best player in the Aul) in his pocket.Babbs an indeed you an everyone else at the game could see Figo wasnt fit to play.Your post started out well but finsihed up with a dig at my club with regards to unsporting behaviour, you saw the 2 incidents at both games an I for one admire a footballin brain/point of view, but your comments about the incidients are petty an cheap .A good post is one that gives you something to think about or agree/disagree with or even stops you an make's you think ya he has a point there.
You were on goal an watched Alan O'Brien an Cremmin put in a fair 50/50 tackle,Cremmin was'nt injured,he got cramp an it happened basically on the line at half way.The ref told your manager he wasnt goin to stop the game for cramp, especially when the player was in an area of the pitch when he wasnt goin to interfear with play.Your manager wanted to win the game an got a bit heated but I can understand that, but sayin it was unsportin of us to carry on is way off.We had the ball in your last 3rd when Todlum went down injured off the ball an the ref stopped play, the ref droped it an Blarney st drove it back down to our corner flag,we lost the imputus goin forward because we did the decent thing an got no thanks for it but thems the joys an we got on with the game.
Before you throw the Park thing at me in return you again were at the game,it wasnt a set play on our behalf with the dog attending special training sessions mid week,it was a freak one off laughable incidient. In all fairness to blame a dog for loosin or drawin a game, the dog went off chasin rabbits again an the Park lads were what ? waiting for us to say ya we deliberatly put him on to slow down play an prevent ourselves from scorin.Figo just reacted qiuckest to the drop ball, nothin dirty or unsportin. The Park lad did ask Figo a question,"are you goin to kick it back",Figo said why should he an that was the end of it.The Park player should have got his mind back on the game an got on with it an as I reminded you Cass you were at the game an saw it happen in front of you,yet you put a different twist on it.
Despite what Berba would describe as a poor Grattan side against a 2nd string Blarney St side I take your comment on board but forgive me if I dont agree with you.It wasnt a poor Grattan side far from it,it was a good Grattan side who just didnt play well. The majority of players on show for us Saturday were the same players who won the league for the past 2 seasons, they have set the standards for those who wish to take their crown,an they are only too aware that it has been a frustrating season this year.

We were 1 up against WGHill in the quarters of the Michaels Cup with 20 minutes to go in a sticky kinda messy game. The final result was a 3-1 defeat for us. Three goals that we are disapointed to concede. Worse than walking away from a game like that is the Manure fans telling you that the Pool are 2 down with 5 mins to go. The 3 o clock kick offs mean there isnt a second half for us to follow any more!
I didnt realise Pa Connors was with Corinthians - three talented brothers in that clan. Dave came back from OZ and scored the winner for us in Last years City Challenge Cup Final and went back to Oz. A genius of a player. Steven destroyed us another day with Northvilla.
Will Dublin be heavy favourites for Saturday? How long is the drive to Ferrycarrig?

having read both casilles and littlemans posts on last sat game i suddenly remembered why i enjoy this game so much.as you touched on with your dvd review littleman it is amazing how people can see things differently and the different opinions one can arrive at out of a fairly poor game. for what its worth here is mine.....
firstly i am not gonna comment on what happened down in park with grattan cause altough i was there i was too far from that particular incident to hear the exchange between the players involved. either way i will say that if i was the park manager i would have been livid with my player for not telling grattan that he woukd give the ball back and relieve the pressure from his team. (which is exactly what we done on sat and i make no aplologies for this) it is an accepted part of the game nowadays and something every team does. anyway the game was not stopped for an injury so i dont see why the gratten player involved should give the ball back. now i also work with a park utd person who said that the player did say he would give it back to them and didnt. this is different so again we have conflicting reports from both sides of the story.
on saturdays game the only difference on the day is we scored and grattan did not. grattan did shade the first half and came close through harry with a header which the keeper saved at point blank range and through brian and shinky with headers aff corners. what nobody is mentioning is that there was a strong breeze and i genuinely felt if we could get in at half time level we had a great chance. as it turned out we probably shaded the second half and managed to get the all important goal, which was superbly taken by john paul thompson. after that grattan did push hard but were forced to go long ball mostly and i felt we dealt very well with this.
littleman it is not for me to comment on grattans plight but im sure you will agree with me on this but i think a big difference for ye this year is the quality on the bench. when i watched ye before down through the past two years the line was always very strong and full of very good players. for me i dont think it is as strong now.you are right the players on the field are more or less the same players which have won the league the last two seasons

as for babsy marking figo out of the game i must say i only heard now that figo was not fit. that is fair enough but i still wont take from babsy who was outstanding.again when you say i got frustrated on sat with the ref for not stopping the game you would be spot on but this was simply the straw that broke the camels back. i was really annoyed because of all the offsides that he called against my team previous to this. what really got to me was the position he was in which was about 20-30 yards behind the play when he blew his whistle every single time we broke. now having spoke to someone who i regard as one of the better refs who was watching the game on the line who told me that at least 3 times the player was on side. what ever happened to giving the attacking team the advantage. so my rant had nothing to do with ye not stopping the play cause cremin was down with cramp but more over with his general performance. for me unless a player is seriously injured the game should not be stopped and even then only if the ref stops it. having to put the ball out to allow the ref to allow first aid on is a joke and only leads to arguemens.h
have to give a special mention to danny quinlan who came off the bench on sat simply to compete with the grattan back line who were dominating every thing in the air in their own box. he totally changed things and its a good reward for him having trained very hard over last few weeks. won some great headers when defending in our box too

anway have to say im really looking forward to the game on sat and cant wait to travel up and support the lads. should be an intersting team selection for minty with anthony buckley back but was told tonight that figo is no longer involved.anyone shed any light as to why this is. littleman? i really feel he will be a big loss.
i cant believe that the aul in their wisdom have decided not to travel up on the fri and stay overnight. in big games like this the small things make a big difference and i think they have failed the lads on this. maybe im wrong but it sounds like penny pinching to me which is all wrong.for me the lads should be brought up on fri night, have a goods night sleep and be able to have a lie in and relax on sat morning. instead they are meetting at nine in the morning and then travelling up presumably by bus.after getting offf the bus they then have to go out and play one of the biggest games off the season."fail to prepare, prepare to fail" springs to mind. i hope im wrong of course and that it wont affect the players but we will wait and see.
anyway best wishes to all involved and i hope they do it. are there many people making there way upon sat. do we know much about the dubs

Fair points all round an you can see the difference between putting your point across with a bit of thought in it as apposed to just ploughin through with whats on your mind.
I'd agree with your thoughts on the current squad we have, our strenght in depth over the last 3 or 4 seasons was always that we could swap players at vital times an really hurt teams ,we never had a set 11,a squad of 18 an everybody played there part. When you look at the players that are absent from last seasons team Lofty,Cans,Jp O'Sullivan,Pa Connors,Danny Dunne,BB,Dricky,Kevin Goldsmith,Deck Gostel you really have to be honest with yourself an say its impossible to achive the same when players like that are gone.
Even still I thought we had a very strong squad this season , some of them are young an at times we have lacked that killer touch in front of goal an especially our ability to play the ball around. We have uncovered a few jems this season in Shane O'Mahony an David O'Leary an have Harry back for good ,hopefully.Dricky should be sorted for next season too so it aint all doom an gloom, a transition period would be the best way to describe it.
Hind sight is a great thing,it allows you to learn from your mistakes an get better for them, everyone has a job to do within a club and a new management with a set group of players will either work or it wont ,you have to let it run its course an not interfear an if you cant you should get out of the way, which I did.
I agree with you on Quinlin,he mixed it up an unsetteled a center half pairing who normal thrive on that kind of thing, but then again the game at that point wasnt goin our way so nothin surprised me.
Babs is class, pure an simple ,the best full back I have ever seen in the Aul by a mile.Postioning an pace, vision he has the lot an he should an could play at a far higher level ,an even if Figo was 100% he would have had a hard time gettin one over Babs, but then thats why Figo is the player he is,hes that good an everyone knows it,one his day he is unplayable for any defence.Figo an even Babs are some of those players we have all seen over the years an thought they were good enough to play pro,but slipped through the system,we could name many more but its just one of these things about junior football isnt it.
With regards to the ref,a word to the wise,Big Brother is watchin??????????

Jesus lads i took it for granted that the AUL squad were heading down on the friday night! This is madness surely?! There has to be some other reason for it? Maybe the players didn't enjoy the trip up to roscommon and would prefer to get a good nights sleep in their own beds? This has to be the reason other wise it doesnt make sense.
Anyway Best of luck to all involved and I hope they come back with a winners medal in each of their pockets. Great stage for the lads to show international manager what they can do.
Lads I dont know this babs character yer on about. Why is he not on the AUL team? Defence is the weak part of this team for me. Without Figo though if that is true creativity maybe hard to come by and that piles more pressure on the 2 dereks..

Is Figo gone from the panel?
Lots of niggles from the 1-1 draw with Avondale last night, but nothing too serious I dont think.
Surely Big Brother can't use anything that is read on this site? Over the few months I have been on, the vast majority of opinions have been backed up in some way or clearly stated as the persons own opinion.
I havent heard any downright insults of people or committees
This site can only be good for local football. We all share knowledge, and make contacts which can only be good for the game.

Babs is the right back.
Figo withdrew from the squad just prior to the Roscommon game.Hes had a problem with a stomach muscle an felt he needed to be 100% fit for Grattan first as he's captain an any games in which he didnt have to play could be used for R'n'R.Every one is dissapointed not to have him available but his position is totally understandable an i have the highest respect for him makin it .
On the Big Brother situation look lets be honest here nearly everybody on this thread has voiced their dissapointment at the performence of some official over the season. We may not name names but just as an example Horse,we play ye then they know its Blackstone an Grattan, who reffed it it easy to find out an they do talk to each other an they do share info on what clubs are givin more grief than others to refs. This is junior football an if you dont understand what comes along with that tag then you shouldnt get envolved with junior football.Dodgy pitchs, dodgy teams an dodgy refs are all part of the game an you have to be prepared for them whan they come your way.
This site is excellent, the post for the most part can be very entertaining an full of good info .It can be very funny to see the same incident played out in 3 or 4 different ways according to who was watchin an it adds to the banter. In fairness again for the most part we all know if we wanted to find out a little info on what ever rumor is about a word in the right ear on this thread will get you an answer true or false fine an quick.
But if you want to see what happens when the wrong type of person starts to get personal an loose's the plot just check some of the other threads. This is a good thread an we should keep it that way;)

It's very close alright Horse, we are a point behind Casement with 2 games in hand so hopefully if we can avoid losing we will be still there at the end. Very similar to AUL 3 last year with ourselves, Carrigaline, Leeview, Ballincollig and Wilton all there right up until the end of April..... what a sweat it was!!!! To be honest there doesn't seem to be too much of a difference between the 2nd & 3rd divisions. I reckon there is a definite step up in class to the 1st, we were beaten by yourselves in AOH Cup and by Greenwood last week in City Challenge. Although I thought we gave a good show in both games, to be honest we couldn't complain about either result. Sometimes those games bring you back to reality which is no harm. Have ye played Lakewood in AOH yet??

Doug, I would agree in a sense at the differences between 1st and 2nd. However, i think it may have to do with you going straight through Div 2. We had 3 or 4 seasons in Div 2, so we dont notice much difference with Div 1. I know our league position shows different, but, it was down to changes in the club/team very close to the season kick off which resulted in a slowish start.
We played Lakewood in one of the starngest games ever. I wasnt there, but we won 5 nil. The funny thing is Lakewood can genuinely say they could have won the game!!!! We scored 3 late on, having used woodwork and line clearances to prtotect our lead.
Greenwood next for us.

That was me alright,it was 4 nil at tha stage an to be honest it wasnt as one sided as the score suggests.Only difference was they took theres an we didnt ,time an time again.I always find it weird that you play a team in the 3rd division that on league form are supposed to be strugglin an they turn up with players that are clearly a couple of divisions better than what their playin an look as good as anythin I,ve sen in Prem A this year, the mind boggles,,,,
On Ms Fallon, please forgive me again but the first few paragraphs durin the week went at great lenght to point out how junior football in Cork was struggling an how senior was doing so well,it then went on to talk about senior this an senior that with all senior managers an talked about junior ????????the very week the Aul reach the final of the Oscar Traynor,,,,,,,,,,,,,whoops one shoud do a bit more reserch me thinks.
The only story this weekend is the game tomorrow, tis in our own hands all we can do is give it our best. With all due respect to the Dubs, theres something special about this group of Cork players. To be behind an dead an buried in so many of the games an to fight back an get to this stage is an incredible achivement.I hope we win because those players deserve there little peice of history,,,,,,,,,,best of luck tomorrow lads we'er all behind you.

:D Well done on the great win today even if the squad selection process does baffle me on occasions! You can't ask for more than a win! Maybe a bit more recognition now for the Cork AUL and some players might think again before joining the MSL

Well where do I start an what do I start with.It was unreal to be honest,up in Wexford playin the Dubs, more Cork people than Dubs at it by the way as well.Gratts,Kinsale,Blackstone,Wilton Leeside,an Blarney St too ;)have I forgotten some one well if I have Im sorry.
I'v been envolved in football for God knows how many years but I'v never experienced anything like this in terms of pure self belife. We were totally commited to takin that trophy back to Cork,no matter how many goals we had to get or what we had to do to get it.
The match report can wait till it all calms down in a few days. The Dubs flattered to deceive an scored a goal they didnt really deserve an Paul got an equaliser he totally deserved for the effort he put in,the winner may have been a tad lucky but who cares,we deserved it because anyone could see we wanted that trophy more than the Dubs.We closed them down an ran ourselves to near death just to deny them any space an it worked,Delea knew too well the 1st half wasnt his best but the 2nd he made his own,any one in the backline could have got man of the match to be honest,an Betts too.Brian Sull was absaloutely superb with Shinky an Jason an Babbs in top form.Everyone that started gave all the had an everyone on the bench gave all they could to keep the lads on the pitch goin. The Dubs lost the plot because they had no answere to our energy, when they got past one man another cleared to cover him.
A truly special team, never say die, totally committed to the cause,no bickerin what so ever on the pitch becaue we had to stay focused on the important thing, winning.Back to Brannigans,it used to be called Tipples when I was on the Aul team:D an a good well earned belt off the bevy.I'll talk soon I'm bait,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Cork Aul,,,,,,,,,Oscar ,Traynor Champions 2008/9,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Fantastic win for Cork AUL.
I thought they were on top right throughout, even though the Dubs had a few chances, especially that scary one right near the end.
In a funny way I was disapointed at the Dubs, I thought they would be better. Someone had to point out the player, who is regarded as the best junior player in Ireland. They took off the guy who I regarded as their best player on the day.
The Cork keeper was good throughout. The defence never really were in trouble. A little disapointed at the goal Cork conceded though, the Dub seemed to be no danger out in the wing. The midfield won the battle. Derek Varian was good. Keith Kelleher was unlucky.
Upfront, the two lads looked dangerous every time the ball went up, especially O Shea. He must have went close for Man of the Match.
Even when they were one down, there wasnt the slightest worry in the Cork side. Could they go to the well one more time - Hell yeah!
I believe there was that feeling in this team that you get midway through the season when you know you are going to win something. They didnt show how good they were in stages of games this season, which makes you wonder what they can achieve again next season.
Littleman, I think you might get a POWERful message from streetscene about your list of teams at the match!!!

cant believe you let us out of the list littleman!!! you obviously cant remember who bought you the last jd and coke sat night
lads firstly what a result against the dubs and fair play to all involved.man for man they all contributed and worked their socks off and i was delighted that we made the trip up there to support them.it must have been a first to have all the rival club supporters gathered together on the line all supporting the cause.nice for a change
there was a strong wind which the dubs had at their backs starting off and they had the early pressure but never really created much.few dangerous crosses into the box alright but thankfully there was nobody there to get on the end of them. cork actually done very well against the wind and broke well on occasion in particular varian who carried the ball very well into the dublin half and who won a lot of frees. McCarthy won everything that came his way in the air and o mahony was outstandind playing off him.his constant running and hassling was an inspiration to everyone else and he summed up this cork team for me.the dubs did manage to take the lead after a scramble in the box but even then you felt if cork could get in at half time only one down then they had a great chance. however when o mahony did manage to get on the end of rebound there was a real believe all round us on the line that there was something big on the cards in the second half.this was well discussed in the line at the van for the burgers at half time.......
however when the the second half started it was a much improved dublin team who took the field.they did play much better football and kept it better and it took cork a while to get up to the pace. however they did come more in to it as the game went on and looked dangerous on the break and when o mahony went on a great run it was only a last ditch tackle that stopped him.however derek delea who had carried on his run into the box was nicely placed to tap the ball into the empty net.2-1 to cork and madness all round.the dubs did come on strong but never created much except one chance which o regan in goal somehow managed to get something on as he dived the other way. after that cork held on well altought he four minutes injury time seemed to last for about ten.
o regan in goal was solid again and justified his selection, the back four were strong and handled supposedly the best centre forward in ireland very well. the midfield battled hard and broke about even id say while up front o mahony was outstanding and was my man of the match.Mccarty as usual was very good.the subs all contributed
credit to the manager and his backroom team.some tough decisions had to be made all throughout this campaign and they were never afraid to change things... some tough calls had to be made on sat too and again they got it right.there is a super bunch of lads in this squad and they deserve to be champions.lets just hope its not another 43 years before we see this cup back in cork again. well done to every one

Saturday is D Day for us against Wilton. Some times in football theirs just no explaining why with the talent a team has an the ability they show just why they are in the position they are in:confused:.Its just one of those things you just have to try to work through an hope it comes right;).This season hasnt been what were are used to an I'm the first to admit it,but their is still a chance to turn it around an no matter how hard it would be I know that bunch of players will be well up for it Saturday an lookin to try to get some momentum goin down the finishin straight.I know the odds are stacked against us but I fancy the Gratts to win this one.Once a Gratt, always a Gratt;)

I actually fancy ye too to win this one Littleman. Think Wilton are the type of team ye will always do well against plus we dont want to see the league championship making its way over to the southside

not as easy as some would think down in castle town roche today..went ahead after 5 mins,a powerful header from john betts off a corner and i stayed like that till 25 to go. we totally dominated but over down it regularly trying to walk it in instead of being a bit ruthless.. got the second from lawerence betts again from a corner and paul hogan finished off the scoring with 10 to go. credit to castle celtic who gave it a go and tried to play ball as well.. one of the better 3rd division teams i have seen.. anyway in to the last 16 now tue morning away to mayfield another tough game.
any report on the grattan/wilton game heard grattan were well in it nd might not have been the game that the scoreline suggests
glenthorn had good win in aoh too to set up a cracker of a game versus knockavilla in aoh.. interesting tie for kinsale tomorrow altough they should come thru with ease.. tough one for blackstone too i reckon they will get thru..alls quite on the forum is everyone after being laid off or what!!!!

Delighted to be in the last 8 of the AOH for the first time ever. A tough afternoon, we took the lead midway through the first half when the keeper made one of those errors that every other player on the field gets away with. We were well on top for a spell until the break. They had much more of the second half, and we defended well and had a few chances on the break. They had a corner in the dying seconds and nothing better to see than your keeper plucking it out of the sky. Away to Kinsale next, a tough one, but hey, its cup football and only 8 teams left who can win it and we are one of them.
When will the evening games start? We have minimum 13 games left, could stretch to 20!!
I heard Maymount won 11 and drew 1 in the month of April a few years back.
Littleman didnt ye play 2 games in 2 days last year? What was the story there? Was that a risky one?

Horse you first,we did play 2 league games to finish off last season.Kanturk away on Saturday an Ballypheane at home on Sunday. We had half the team goin on holidays the week after so it was a wise move.We had the league wrapped up anyway an a big squad so 2 games in 2 days was handy enough. The Aul didnt have a problem with it either, thought we were a bit mad to be honest.
Leeside an Coachford wasnt played cause the pitch was unplayable????????????????
Well barring a mircle thats us out of the runnin for the league well an true,we took the lead through Harry an looked ok for a victory until a deflected equaliser got Wilton level. We had them under pressure big time after that but their 2nd goal just about summed up our season.A simple ball through our defence, the sweeper had it at his feet guiding it back to our keeper ,the sweeper thought the keeper should come for it an the keeper had other ideas an the center forward chasin ended up havin a simple tap in.Crossed wires of the worst kind. The 3rd though a great strike was the result of another stuipid foul on our side.A goalkeeper with lead in his shoes fell rather than dived,an all this in about 5 or 10 mins at the end.Paul O'Mahony was sent off for a 2nd yellow, stuipid sendin off but the ref couldnt do anything about it,Paul on Wilton scorin took his shirt off, hence the 2nd yellow. We actually played well, Figo was outstanding again an bore the brunt of some terrible tackles.Best we can hope for it that we try to make the best of the rst of the season. When your lucks not in it can all go wrong an we could do with a little bit of luck right now.
I watched the Kinsale game on what must be the worst pitch in junior soccer, brutal an dangerous is all I can say to describe the place.Dillons in fairness were well in the game, they lost their keeper with an injury an that was the difference for me.Twas a good game though an despite the surface it was played at a great pace.

Leeside 1 - 0 Coachford
Pitch was fine, We had 11 players and Leeside had just a couple more. Only a hand full of 1st team players I'd say ( No offence to anyone playing ) It was a shocking game and one free kick from about 30 yards out evaded everyone on the way in. This was the difference. 3pts for Leeside but not title contenders on this performance....

Wilton are going to be very very hard to catch now lads. I'd rather be in their position much more so than ours or leesides. That was a massive victory for them on saturday, i was hoping grattan would do us a favour but unfortunately not. Stil people have it in their own hands. If wilton win all their games, they'll win the league. If we win all our games we'll win at and the same goes for leeside. Gonna be alot to ask though:(.
Dillons cross pitch is disgraceful to be fair. Nothing against them but my god how do they get away with it? Didn't they welcome regional or some other team from up the country there earlier on in the season? That's embarassing. The bring your own water rule is a disgrace as well:mad:. We've got to play them again tomorrow morning on the same pitch!! The game on sunday was poor. We deservedly went one down to a penalty. Got the result in the end and that's what it's all about though. Home to Blackstone in the quarters which will be tricky to say the least. We played ye in a friendly earlier on in the season horse i think but both teams were missing a few.. Looking forward to the game.
