You were the fella getting destroyed by our George Best lookalike so Parkboy??? ;)
great result for wilton 2day! was surprised when they lost 5-0 to kinsale! but leeside seem to be struggling a bit!! coachford got off to a good start to the season but saw them against blarney st. and as a neutral of the aul i thought they were very predictable long ball all the time and seem dodgy at the back centre halves and goalkeeper look quite shaky! i think they will be battling relegation at the end of the season! my tip for the league is kinsale thought ballypheane and leeside would challenge but seem to be after indiffferent starts to the season!

Well deserved win for us today unlucky not to have won by more. I felt that Leeside never really threatened other than a 15 minute spell in the first half. Maybe the Leeside lads may have seen things differently?
Another two tough games coming up against Coachford and Park in the next week. If we can take something from those two games it'll be a good start to life in the Premier, kinsale game aside.

First game and a win for Innishvilla. In a division that only 1 side gets promoted from; a good start middle and end to the season is vital :D. I'll be honest all the 1st divisions are tough with only 1 promotion position and 2 relegation positions to play for during the season...
Now after last year it is a great start; Took 6 league matches to get 1 win last year. So a good solid start this year, that the team will look to build on.

Drew 3 - 3 away to Bally last night. They equalised with 2 mins to go, so that was a bit of a sickener. Referee was a disgrace on the night, Figo got kicked up and down the park and didn't get one free, dead cert peno in the 1st half ( their CB couldn't believe it wasn't given ) when we were one up and he gave nothing. Danny long should have been sent off as well, don't like the say it about getting players sent off. Booked in the first have and the ref blew for a foul took out the yellow and had the red in his other hand and he didn't give him anything. I might sound biased here but at this level we need good ref's to be firm in games. All in all a good start considering the delay in the season we've had. Looking forward to our first northside derby at home to Blarney street.

Got our first point on the board last night with a hard fought 3-3 draw away against Ballyphehane .We played some great football in the second half to come back from 2-1 down & lead 2-3 only to concede late.Have to agree with toepoke about the ref,he was very poor on the night, gave a yellow to 1 of our players early in the game for decent ( he was complaining about the challenges on Figo ) but never once cautioned any of the Bally players for the amount of fouls they committed on him.I'm not saying Bally were dirty just persistent fouling.
Looking forward to the game against Blarney Street Saturday.

Watched the Villa and Kinsale game last night with a few of the Blarney Street lads. Game finished 2-2 with both teams scoring in injury time.
Kinsale were missing Varian and one or two others and looked fairly ordinary without him. Villa were down a couple of players also. Derek McCarthy was easily marshalled by the Villa centre halves. Villa had much the better of the first half and were unlucky not to be two up before Kinsale went ahead. The villa back four pushed up leaving the centre forward offside, however the kinsale winger ran from deep and the ref deemed the centre forward not to be interfering with play. Villa were awarded a soft penalty a few minutes later.
Kinsale had more of the ball in the second half without creating any real chances and the game looked likely to finish 1-1. However in injury time Kinsale got a lucky break from a corner and the ball ended up going over the head of the villa keeper, not sure if the kinsale player even meant it. Kinsale were barely finished celebrating when one of their players was red carded for a bad foul just outside the penalty area, and the resulting free was missed by everyone and went straight in with the last kick of the game.
Overall a draw was a fair result. Was not impressed by Kinsale their defence looked shaky, and their only tactic seemed to be balls over the top and down the wings to their forwards. Without Varian this tactic didnt really work, and they didnt really seem to have a plan B. Villa looked decent and will be tough to beat in the fairfield but they need to improving on their finishing.

didnt see the game last night either but it sums up the previous game against park too, didnt get out of 2nd gear (didnt seem like there was a 2nd gear) and a very ordinary performance, defense a bit shaky, midfield very average- didnt help the front 2 and provided little support to the defenders, sat way too deep in my opinion and that encourages mistakes in front of goal. derek mc is being forced to work in midfield and be sole creator up front (varian missing against park too), i dont like criticising but there's still a lot of work to be done. thats the 2nd equalising goal inna week conceded from a direct free kick that should have been avoided, thats something we're gonna have to stamp out now before it costs us any more grief, its cost us 4 points already
looks like the league is a lot more balanced so far though, everyone taking points off everyone else, no one team looks outstanding, the decision by the league to start with league games seems to be encouraging competition early on and i for one am delighted with it, lets see how it all pans out
a team who can get on a bit of a run now (wilton !!) can get good momentum up and with the big cups on the horizon then the league might take a back shelf forra while, big squads and fit players should and will be the difference so keep the tough running up lads
here's how we look after the 1st few games (table is a bit wobbly but the best i could do at short notice)
Premier League.....Pld....W....D....L.....GF.....GA.....Pt s....GD
Wilton United............4......3.....0.....1.....5...... .6.......9......-1

Glenthorn Celtic....... 0...... 0......0....0.....0.......0.......0.......0

Looking at that table there is very little between any of those 10 teams.
Every point is gonna have to be fought for.
We have had a bad start(shock!!) with our games against Kinsale and a
gutless display against Wilton.
A massive 3 points for us last night though out in Park.It wasn't pretty
but we battled hard for it and sometimes this can be more pleasing than playing
total football.

To be honest i'm not sure, you guys will challenge for the league again this year whereas Blarnet Street will probably be in the dog fight around the bottom so i'm not sure who need the points more. In saying that I fancy you guys to beat them by a couple of goals.

No word yet on the pitch in St Aidans. A team game v Coachford is Saturday and B team game is Sunday morning. Unofficially i'd say both are off but dont take my word for it. The decision isnt mine! It was boggy enough there yesterday evening and taking into account the weather today it could be totally water-logged. The best I can say is that until you hear otherwise its on. Hi Lads
Niall here from www.teamer.net
Noticed your forum topic online, so taking the chance to respond if thats OK. Thanks to Billy's AUL blog, we got a load of teams in Cork region sign up in our very first week.
We'd be very keen to hear from anyone who has had a look and signed up, even more so from those that had a look and decided not to proceed. We are releasing a range of new features in the next fortnight to coincide with our official launch in a weeks time, but ultimately we will rely on the football/sports community to drive our future developments.
So feel free to let us have your feedback, either here/Cork AUL blog, or direct to niall@teamer.net.
Thanks, and good luck to all in the new season.

If this weather keeps up there won't be a hope in hell of the season getting finished. It looks like there was a grand total of 12 matches played this weekend!!!
On a brighter note Innish continued their solid start with a good 5:2 win over Lee Rangers... Last season it took us 10 league games (6th January) to reach 2 league wins.

We beat leeview, (leevale??) yesterday 3-1, tough game on a very bad pitch, grass is way too long, on a positive it was the refs first game and i have to say he was very fair, took absolutely no back chat, nonne what so ever and showed good logic with the yellow cards, and was consistent in decisions for both sides. Fair play to the lad.

I guess last year the team lost almost 7 of the starting 11 from the previous year so for the team had to be totally rebuilt. That took until after Christmas to take a shape where once there was a settled 11-13 players the team went on a great run of form. This year they've kept almost all that team (lost 2 I think) and gained 3 - 4 new players. Ger Foran came from Kinsale again this year to help with pre-season, but unfortunately he has to get an ankle operation this month and will be gone for a few months.

Yeah we're in the exact same situation. It looks likely at this stage that the new pitches will be unusable for the foreseeable future. There is a question about the drainage in our new pitches but it is impossible to see/do anything about it at the moment because there's hardly a pitch in Cork can take the rain that has been falling the last few months

Yeah you missed a turn.
Left after the bridge. Take the next right (about half mile down the road) up a hill. Follow that road, go straight thru a staggered X-roads (up hill again) turn right at the next V in road, it is about 3/4 mile up the road on left after V just after a group of 3 houses on right. Total distance from bridge about 2 miles.

Was at this game today. Glenthorn were missing a few and by the looks of it so were Wilton. Wilton 2-3 Glenthorn. Wilton played well in the first half and are a good side. Glenthorns first competitive fixture of the season and in the first half it showed. Both sides played some good football and either side could have won it towards the end. Two dodgy penalties - one for either side. I thought John Lyne was poor enough.
