Christ great result yesterday for coachford!! Ominous to say the least. Well we went through on penalties and it would have been an injustice had we not have won but we're in another final and we dont care how we got there!! The extra time we could have done without as there are some tired legs appearing. First half it was all Kinsale but we couldn't make the breakthrough. Scully, varian, terrince eade and seralsie all having chances but ddnt stick them. It must be said that this is one of the biggest pitches i have seen... it was massive!! Tough on the legs.

Second half they took the lead from a throw in and it took us a while to get back into the game but mongo is claiming the equaliser from a header so we'll take that. After that we huffed and puffed but weren't producing much. Macroom could have nicked it in extra time as they hit the cross bar from a header:eek:! I dont think it would have been deserved but they battled hard and were always there or there abouts. Hurley saved a peno and we stuck 4. Brilliant!!

Lovely pitch, if not on the big side!! and a great crowd out for macroom. tough place to get a result but we did it. Concentrate on the league now for the next week and a half. Coachford on tuesday, park on sat, and wilton tuesday week. All away from home unfortunately. Alot of tired legs at the moment in the Kinsale squad. Fair few injuries being picked up but hopefully they recover in time for another final on tuesday night with ye junglegym.

Congrats on the league victory bella! Great feeling.

Also good luck to out neighbours innishvilla! Enjoy the experience but make sure ye come home with the cup!!:ball:

Absolutely gutted here this morning...
Cracking cup final last night in the cross. We went down 2:1 to Watergrasshill after extra time... Nip and tuck all the way.
0:0 with but 2 minutes to go Johnny Dorgan scored for them, we scored an equaliser with the last kick of the game. Their second striker Jacob, scored their 2nd after 5 minutes of extra time. Our captain Paul Griffin saw a curling shot heading for top corner magnificently saved by the hill keeper in the last minute... Team is devestated to tell the truth but thems the breaks...

Unlucky Innishvilla - not much in it by all accounts.
Kinsale had a scare in Macroom but I think that the Premier A sides are proving to be as strong as the Premier teams this year. Ballyvolane beating Grattan illustrates this point again. Any report Littleman?

I expected you to win even though I have not seen Ballyvolane play - they can't be bad to beat the Prem champions twice this season, can they? Going on our recent record against the Prem A teams, Ballyvolane will definitely think that they have a 50/50 chance and may even be favorites for the Mossie final.

Back to the bread and butter, as they say, this week.
Away to a revitalised Coachford tomorrow night - big win v Glenthorn at the weekend for them will mean that they will be harder than ever to get a result against. But shur, we'll do our best?

Firstly, congrats to Bella - long season in your division. From my experience, with one or two additions (maybe from the first team), then the 2nd division isnt a huge step up for a good 3rd division side. In fact, rumours are Boscos are getting stronger with each game and ye could be the first team yet!

Inishvilla, I havent experienced the heartbreak of Cup Final defeat yet, but Im sure I will at some time in the future. It must be sickening. Johnny Dorgan is, as the old saying goes, is a natural goalscorer. We have been playing against him in one guise or another for years. We know he can score, we mark him tightly for 90 minutes, and yet one sniff usually ends up in the net. His strike partner Jacob seemed ok in the one game I saw him this year.

I really feel for Wilton, who we beat in the City Challenge last year, who lost the same final again. For a 3rd division side to reach it twice is some achievement. The double should ease the pain though!!

I will be the first to put up my season review, since we finished with a 3-1 defeat to Carrigtwohill. I saw only 50% of the games, due to the arrival of a future Blackstone star in October.

Pre-season was a strange one after the highs of the end of the season. We lost a good few players, and the manager changed two weeks before the season. We lost our 1st two league games by the odd goal, to teams who cant field a team once the GAA picks up pace. We then beat league champions Greenwood and picked up another 4 points to finally get our campaign off the ground. Another two defeats before 3 months without a league game. When we resumed, we went 9 games unbeaten with 6 wins. 2 games to go, and we could actually still win it. A draw with the champions and a defeat on the finally day means we will finish 3rd to 5th. Disapointed in our last 2 results, but, on reflection, happy to finish so high up.

In the cups, we went outside Cork for the first time in the Munster, but didnt do ourselves justice against the visiting Dungarvan side. This included a huge win against Premier League leaders Wilton. The AOH quarters was our other big game, and we could have nicked it on spotters with a bit of luck against Kinsale. We were disapointed to give up our City Challenge Cup in the first round on Paddys Day.

Overall, we have a taste of "what could have been" in the league, but, on reflection, the club can now take the field with the top Premier sides and know we can do ourselves justice.

Cheers Horse... I'll tell you 12 year ago I was part of a team that won a cup final, It is some different feeling.

I saw Blackstone play Watergrasshill there last week. The hill had only half a team but I must admit Blackstone looked very strong. I think ye picked up a few Villa players as well???

If ye can keep the squad I saw together I'd be thinking of giving Cashmans a call in the preseason for a flutter...

Lads on behalf of Bella and everyone at Springfield thanks for all the congrats. Bella started a new job lately and is puttin all his time and efforts into that- thats why ye havent seen him on here lately.
Were all delighted down here tbh. A really good season with only one defeat on the way to winnig the league and that was away to Grattan at the start when they were strong (and we were robbed at the end;):D). Over the 50 point mark and a really tough April. We are hoping to push on now and go straight up again next year. Fingers crossed.

Unlucky Innis the other night- from what I here it was close all the way.

Thanks Again

Inish, Thanks for the compliments.

As you learned the hard way, that was not a true WGHill that day. We did gain a few from Villa during the window...and with a bit of luck, two or three more from Villa have promised us signatures.

It took the team until March to gel, so if every one stays together and we add the few that a squad needs every year just to get freshness we have nothing to fear. We won twice and drew once in 3 games with the champions so we know we can hold our own.

Well lets start off with the important stuff congrats to Ballyvolane on reaching the final of the Mossie.Best of luck.

We have no body else to blame but ourselves but that seems to be the story of our season dosent it.At the start of the season I stated that I wasnt too worried that we had lost Jp an Danny because as a team we had the majority of attackin an creative players still at the club an I felt we would still create enough chances against teams. Also I felt that again as a team we had players all over the pitch who could wade in with their fair share of goals. But though I may go by the name Littleman im a big enough to admit I got it wrong,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

we could an should have had this game over an done with in the first half an I dont think Ballyvolane would have had any complaints. We've all been their in games like this, dominating play 1 up an creating chances but you dont kill teams off an what happens they equalise. An experienced players will tell ya an 1 nil lead no matter how dominant you are is nothin,,,,,,,,,,,

to be very honest an it hurts for me to say this but as soon as Ballyvolane equalised I had this gut renching feelin that we would crumble an we did.I have won an awful lot over the years an lost a fair share too, experience tells me that every time you reach the semis of any competition you have to grab the oppertuinity with all the energy an commitment you have, dig deep an run till you can run no more,an give everythin till you cant do no more for the fella in front of ya behind ya or by your side,I did that along the way an I won things with the players in my teams that did the same also .Thats why I value the things I won an even some of the ones I lost with those players along the way but from what I saw Sunday me an the people I played with are a dying breed,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all thats spurs people on now is the promise of a shower a flat pitch an a tracksuit,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:(

Bog / Shilts .

We are looking forward to welcoming ye tommorow night for our last game of the season. Obviously ye are treating every game as a cup final at the moment because lets face it thats what it is. If ye drop points at any stage now it will f*** things up for ye.

I could come on here and say we will only be going through the motions and seeing the season out for what it's worth. But I wont.. We have played ye three times this season having no joy and frankly the defeat in the Mossie was heartbreaking.. I think we're due a result ..

The weather is supposed to be good and hopefully that will bring out a big crowd ( which has been lacking up our way recently  ) .

All and all regardless of the result and sometimes controversy when we play big games in the Glebe We will shake hands at the final whistle and then wonder what in the name of God will we do for the next 3 months ..:ball:

We always expect a tough game home or away against Coachford and we always get it - not a lot between us so far this season and hopefully the rub of the green will go our way tonight - but have to agree with the last comment about shaking hands after whatever the result :ball:

I have to say I was a bit dissapointed to hear Grattan lost at the weekend - I was afraid that if they went out of the Mossie that they wouldn't try a leg v Wilton tonight - Prove me wrong please littleman!!!

That said Grattan have always given their best in the past and on their day have the ability to beat anybody in the country, so if I had to pick a team in the league who wouldn't lie down to Wilton I'd pick Grattan. C'mon the Gratts!!!

Well done to all who won their respective leagues.Only 2 divisions left to be decided.Division 1 and the Premier.
Getting very interesting at the moment with Wilton and Kinsale. Both have tough games left.Nice to see we have climbed to 3rd in Premier and we have put a good run together in Division 1.
Both teams had good wins at the weekend.Premier team went to Leeside with 13 players and came away with a great 3-1 win.
First division team went to Glenthorn with 11 players and came away with 4-2 victory. Our manager had to step in between the posts when our right back got injured......Huge struggle to get a full squad at the end of the season.
Looking forward to next weekend.Last game of the season for Second team and a mouth watering clash against Kinsale on Sunday for first team.

Actually on that comment I must say our Div 1 has really come down to the wire... Richmond host Pearce tonight, a win for Pearce puts them top by 1 point from Greenmount with a game to go (against us!!!) a win for Richmond puts them 1 point behind Greenmount with 1 game left against, guess who, Greenmount

Pearse 2 Richmond 2.

What does that mean to the outcome of Div 1 Innish?

I called down to watch plus a quick peek at the Cork City Youths v Ballincollig as well.
Interesting game Pearce looked the better side in 1st half scored a very soft early goal. Went 2 up. Conceded direct from a free kick, then - squeaky bum time, Pearce were pushed back very deep, Richmond threw the kitchen sink at them, had chance after chance, but a combination of good defending and a seriously bumpy pitch meant it was not until the last minute that they forced an equalizer...

Talk about complicated...
I'll start with the easy...
1. If Greenmount win against Richmond on Sat - Greenmount win league
2. If it is a draw - A win for Pearce on Sunday against us will give Pearce the title
3. If Richmond win - Any result other than a Pearce win will result in a play-off for the title, with Richmond and Greenmount plus if we drew with Pearce all 3 would be on same points.

To add another twist, we play UCC tomorrow, have to win but if we do then a win against Pearce will see us stay up... A tough ask, but we'll just wait and see.

We have a very hard game away to Park on sunday morning 1st. We need at least a point there to stay alive for the Wilton game on tuesday. (We are now 4pts behind with a game in hand)

Wilton get a weeks rest instead of playing their 2nd last game at the weekend like us. Small things like this bug me a lot.

Very lucky to win last night. 0-0 at half time. We went 1 up from a pen and they equalised from a 50/50 pen (generous to the ref) for handball and the player was then red carded for a 2nd yellow. 1-1 20 mins left and down to 10 men. We had to dig deep and were the only team trying to win it. Richie Holland scored the winner. His sub was ready to go on for him when the ball went out of play...it did when he lashed it into the net
:D Phew!!!

Roll on sunday!!!

If these guys win the league they certainly will have done it the hard way.

Last nights game was a cracker . We had five youths playing , Two of them only 16 and they were excellent which was great to see.
Two penalties excellently dispatched and ( I'll have to correct you Shilts )Your second got a deflection on the way in ( off Varian perhaps ) I reckon it would have been saved only for this important touch.;) But there the joys.

Yeah last Sundays team was totally different than the team that beat us 4-0 at the start of the season.
On the matter of our Manager in goal, only for a bad knee he would still be playing. In his early years he was Parks first choice keeper for 10-12 seasons. Also played in goal for limerick Minor,U21 and junior level.

A few transferred, a couple of other players just packed in and its always hard to add players to the squad in January

There seems to be a lot of teams struggled over players going to OZ. I know that was a big reason for Ballyphehane folding. 5 or 6 starters left for OZ and everything went downhill.

i totally agree with your comment how could grattan players expect to turn up to matches and demand such luxuries as a shower after running around in bogs all season.
From my viewpoint the players who stuck with the club through the hard times which were plenty this year deserve a bit more credit than you've offered above, unlike some so called clubmen who jumped ship when there needed most, case in point on tuesday nit when a full team turned up for a nothing match only to find the pitch not lined:confused:,i dont think the aul team would experienced the same thing...wat you think???

I play upfront for richmond........the game was abandoned cos of what can only be described as a brawl between the two teams to be honest.

It was odd, because the whole game was probably one of the cleanest I've played in all season despite what was at stake......it started off with 2 late/bad tackles between the same two players within a few seconds of each other......both players reacted after the second tackle and next thing you know everyones involved.

Not sure what is going to happed now....I presume the game will be replayed as Greenmount can still win the league if they beat us.....watch this space........and expect riot squat on the line next time :D

I'm not sure if it should be replayed... The game was in the 88th - 90th minute... If that was the case and it is replayed you'd be setting a bad precedent. Last few minutes of a vital match, result not going your way, try and start a free for all and get the game called off... To clarify, I'm not saying that's what happened. I wasn't there so I couldn't comment but I could see it happening again if a precedent is set here...

Seeing as we're finished; season review.

A strange one for Innishvilla, big moves on the ground situation we should be fully set up in new grounds for next season. Good start to season picked up early points, then from November to February half team disappeared, struggling for numbers and lost 6 league games on the trot. It was this point we got relegated, not yesterday against Pearce. Final third of season was a huge improvement, we started playing well again, culminating in us getting to the County Cup final and managing to battle into a position where 2 wins from our last 3 league games would see us staying up.

Unfortunately it was not to be, the cup final was a cracker and fair play to Watergrasshill on their victory AET. (Just got a DVD of the match yesterday good to watch but painful too) in the league games we left a lead slip against Greenmount to draw 2:2 thus 2 wins from 2 games. Beat UCC. But conceded after 1 minute against Pearce yesterday, that was terrible as it took the pressure off them totally... Was fairly even until a bad mix up in our defence gave them a 2nd. Their other 2 goals came from us having attaching corners where we pushed everyone forward (we had to win).

Very disappointing end to season, but that's the joy of sport. Rebuild and come back stronger next year...

I can see your point.....shame to finish the season on a note like that.......I kinda feel for the Greenmount lads as well......2 minutes away from winning the league, then we score and it's pretty much all over for them......that's football I guess!

The same thing happened in an MSL Senior 1st Div game this season between Corinthians and Ringmahon. Corinthians were winning 1nil deep in the 2nd half when a Ringmahon player got sent off. As he was marching he started a brawl and the game was abandoned. Eventually Corinthians got the points. Teams should not be rewarded for getting games abandoned!!! I don't know exactly what happened in the AUL game or even the score - but the result could stand!

To be honest there are a number of factors here.
Rules state game has to be replayed subject to law 5.
But that could be used to greenmounts advantage and could mean game in disrepute.

Given its late (93rd minute) stoppage i would expect it to stand as 2-2.
Pearse did not get the cup after beating innishvilla which is fairly lousy if that result does stand.

Sorry to hear the news about the Greenmount game, lousy way to finish up especially with them goin so well.Been a bad few years for them an its nice to see them turn things around.

Berba, hindsight is a great thing.Lookin back at what I did well maybe I did handle things wrong but at the time I thought it was the best thing for the club.We all make mistakes, we all just aint honest enough to admit too them.I no doubt played my part in a dissapointin season but I'l try to make amends next season an I hope I wont be the only one bein honest;)

Lads I've been waiting a long long time to say this but the ground works for our new dressin rooms started this morning an I couldnt be more delighted.I'd like to say a big thank you to the commitee of the club for stickin to the task for so long especially when it got awkward.Worth all the hassle though in the end.

Congrats on the dressing rooms littleman - good to see clubs making progress. Should be great pressure in the showers I'd say - coming from the reservoir next door :D

Did ye get the points over Park Utd. last weekend to set up a mouth watering tie or will ye have to play them Last game of the season pending on tommorow nights result ?????

In my opinion it would be heartbreaking for Wilton to lose it on the last day of the season after leading all the way but thats football for you. Its in there own hands.

Good luck to both sides tommorow night. :ball: Should be a big crowd if the weather is good..

The Park game was cancelled due to the weather so we'll have to play it between the cup finals maybe. Trying to get the odds for tomorrow - where should I be looking???

Just need to wait and see now I suppose........as far as Richmond are concerned, seeing as Pearse won Sunday morning, there's really nothing left for us to play for......if the game was to replayed and we win, we tie on points with Greenmount, but would still come 3rd due to goal difference. However, lot more to play for other way round as 3 points would give them the league!!!

Personally......doesn't really bother me.....would probably suit me not to have to play it again as I have a few bits coming up over the summer that I want to train for and soccer has only been interfering in the last few weeks!!
