Big name?? Before Kilkenny know it he'll have sold their new stand for scrap and have them paying off Chris Kamara's dry cleaning bill

There's more of a chance of Noel Hunt moving to the Premiership than the Eircom League IMO!

Roddy was on Off the Ball one night last week, maybe Thursday, saying that he had met with his old friend the Kilkenny chairman (Rattighan i think) and they had discussed the job, went on to say that it would be a great challange and that they had a lovely little set up blah blah blah but nothing had been agreed.

Roddy is obviously desperate for a job now, for a bloke who had plans to manage Celtic and Ireland he sure has lowered his standads (no disrespect to Kilkenny)

Oman @ 3000/week? Source? Although we have released about 9 players and added 2/3. We should be fine.

From Ballymena?

Yeah, meant to be a quality RB, he's a Norn Iron underage international. Higsy knows the IL very well so Id expect us to do most of our dealings in the next couple of weeks.

The status seems to be that he agreed to sign a new contract with Ballymena but pulled out after Harps offered a full time contract as part of a move to a full time set up. Tommy Wright is livid saying that Finn Harps plan for a full time set up next season is a joke and not r=eal.

Wright says: "Young players in the Irish league should be getting a job and playing football......but I think that he has been misguided........he has a dream of playing full time but I don't think the club that he is talking to will be full time as we know it". - Source Donegal Democrat

He is 20, plays for NI U-19 and U-21. He previously played for Sheff Wednesday in England and Limavady. He is from Derry!

Planning on bringing in a few full time players but the majority will still be part time. Training 5 times a week. Higsy has signed a 3 year full time deal himself.

in todays mirror mooney has again being strongly linked with a move to crystal palace with vastly improved terms. we wont get any money for him as under bosman he is entitled to a free transfer as hes under 23. he is also linked with a move to cork city but the delayed announcement of alan matthews is jeopardising the move. if he signs for cork city we will get 25k for him as thats the valuation for him at da mo..

i know what move i would want myself...;)

That's for his underage years? Does that still apply even though ye released him when he joined us?. That's how we didn't have to pay compensation for him, he was made a free agent. If he goes to England we get zilch, if he stays in Ireland we definitely get some kind of compensation, that was confirmed by the league. How much I don't know but reports range from €25,000 to €60,000.

Rumour that Willie Doyle will move from Monaghan to Wexford Youths as he is now the FAI development worker in Wexford.
Also a rumour that Paul Murphy has been released by St Pat's and is moving home to join up with the youths.
Would be two very good signings if confirmed.

I think you can move once every transfer window, so by the time the new campaign starts it will be considered another year & there should not be any problem within the LOI. The only complications arise from players coming from a traditional winter season when transfer windows occur at different times.

Transfer news in today's Irish Times (http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/sport/2008/0108/1199313619915.html):

Byrne set to team up again with Fenlon
Emmet Malone Soccer Correspondent

League of Ireland: Jason Byrne is set to complete his return to League of Ireland football today. The striker, whose medical at Bohemians last night threw up a minor hamstring problem, hopes to receive final clearance from club doctors this afternoon, in which case he will sign a three-year deal.

...

Byrne's arrival at Dalymount significantly increases the chances that former Shamrock Rovers and Longford striker Dave Mooney will join Cork City over the coming weeks.

Mooney has been on trial with a number of clubs in Britain since the end of the season here, but he has not received an attractive enough offer. Now, with the prospect of an offer from Bohemians all but gone and Alan Mathews set to be unveiled as Cork's new manager before the end of the week, the young Dubliner is likely to head for Turner's Cross.

The striker is certainly one of Mathews' targets, but George O'Callaghan has also been sounded out about a return to Turner's Cross, as have Jamie Harris and Bobby Ryan.

...

Ryan has been a target for St Patrick's Athletic manager John McDonnell and is expected to join the Inchicore outfit, while Harris may stay on at Dunfermline, having recently regained his place in the team there.

Confirmation of Mathews' appointment will end a difficult period for Cork City, which chose to dispense with Richardson's services despite December's cup final success.

The former Longford boss is set to relocate and take leave of absence from his job with Ulster Bank to devote all of his energy to the challenge at Turner's Cross. He inherits a squad of many talented players and perhaps the league's best midfield.

Finn Harps, meanwhile, have released three members of their promotion-winning squad: David Divin, Séamus Browne and John O'Loughlin.

Manager Paul Hegarty recently signed long-time Derry City striker Gary Beckett, and the club said a number of new arrivals are set to be confirmed in the next fortnight.

I'd say Georgie could be back at Turners Cross — Mathews seems keen to snare him. Also, didn't he say during his stand-off with Rico that he had offers from other Irish clubs but was only intertested in playing with City? Talk is cheap though I suppose...

Transfer news in today's Irish Times (http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/sport/2008/0108/1199313619915.html):

Without trying to be smart, why would signing Byrne throw Bohs off making an offer to Dave Mooney? I thought they were flush with cash? What will their striking options be like now? Byrne, Fenn, Mansaram, Crowe. Would have thought Mooney would be a good addition.
