Don't think so Magicme, unless you were talking to him when he was still with us, cuz Keith was signed by Keely just hours after being released by us.

I'd guess they got him so quick cuz Gill let Keely know who he was releasing before anyone else and he took who he wanted.

Apparently Paul Shiels and Robbie Farrell are joining Dundalk. Both ex-Mons?

I do know our manager approached him but he said he was going to Shels.

Yes Robbie Farrell is going to Dundalk. Am gutted but not surprised.

Hes a good young player played one or two sub appearances for Rovers last year after banning in goals for the under 21s all season. Tall, pacey and an eye for goal good signing.

On the Rovers site it says he's from Kilcock but elsewhere on the site he's from Celbridge. Confusing enough before Maynooth was mentioned..

Dessie Baker linked with Galway & Rovers inb this mornings sun.

And he couldn't sign for anyone else anyway - otherwise he would fall foul of the "3 clubs in a year" rule: Shels, Derry , Galway.

greg o halloran spotted getting off the cross river ferry in cobh !!!

Greg wouldn't sign for Cobh as they are not professional. Pretty sure of that. The draw of going closer to home though would tempt him. He would demand fairly hefty wages and Im not sure if Cobh would be willing to spend that on a player considering that they only paid players in Tayto and Coke last season.

Shiels is ****e. Typical first division player. Runs his arse off. Tough in the tackle. Terrible passer. Zero skill.

Wouldn't surprise me all the same.

Shaun Maher has apparently signed for the Drogs today.

If this is true the question is who loses out?

Two centre half positions - three players to fill them (Maher,Gartland,Gavin)

Could suppose play 3-5-2 with Shelly and Webb as wing backs.

That would be a little too attacking for Doolin though perhaps?

His relation ( not sure if she's a sister or cousin) Emma is an Irish soccer international from a few years ago then. I think she also plays GAA and was in the recent Underdogs squad....

Waters, Purcell and McCarthy to Waterford is the latest rumour round Limerick

Any Blahs care to comment??

We could do with another centre half, and maybe will have a more pressing need than that in the coming days, though the priority in defence must still be a left-back.
A left sided midfielder would also be handy, as the options at centre-mid might be even more limited soon too, and our new boy Foley might be earmarked for there.
The first two seem plausible, certainly.
Derek McCarthy I don't know about, but with 4 forwards in Vinnie Sullivan, Willie John Kiely, Karl Bermingham and David Grincell I would have thought that one less likely?

Am I right thinking Purcell did really well down there before??

At this level, Waters would easily do a job centre mid aswell.

I'd say he's yours if you want him :(

As would I. Ye had him down there before and he did naff all.

Yeah he did, and though I recall he was a bit short of pace it'd be great to have him back, and he'd doubtless go straight into the team. What I meant by 'we could do with another' is that we have three centre-halves in the squad in Kenny Browne, David Breen and John Hayes, but may yet lose one of those. Guess which one! :D
Same in the middle of the park where Mul is not yet decided what he wants to do, and so our left sided signing might end up (or always have been intended for) the middle.

Leon MacSweeny from Cork to Bohs - Mirror

Ya, I'd say that's likely especially as Bohs impression is got from the match we played against them.
He'll probably use the Bohs offer as leverage at least.

He's been offered one but turned it down. Our contracts are now going for lower basic wages(still higher that what hes on) and big performance bonuses to work around the wage cap.

The rumour is it potentially doubles his wages.

Negotiations ongoing.

Would like to see him stay as he is promising but not worth breaking the bank over. The game against ye was by far his best game. Has been excellent in 3 games and good in others.

Could see him being a very good player for us next season if he stays but if he goes I wont be gutted (once he's replaced of course).

I wouldnt be surprised if ye offered him more based solely on the semi performance given its Sean Connor :D
