I think league is in Mohers hands and I reckon the fixtures will be arranged to ensure this happens... Mohers home games will be all fixed for weekdays, hardest time to get teams down to Lahinch of course, giving them the best oppurtunity to get positive results... First example of this, Moher V bridge Utd on a Monday and Moher V Newmarket on a Friday, hmmm looks susss?? There are plenty of Sundays left to get these games played... Also we haven't had a league game in over a month, so we look forward to playing Newtown this Sunday with whom we've had fierce battles with in the past. Draw would hand title to Moher.

Ya i think if this ends in a draw then its game over for both Bridge Celtic and Newtown. If i'm right the last game between the two ended in a 1 all draw earlier in the league so could be same this time round...Hopefully the ref won't play 5 mins extra time and the end of the 90:D

this happens every year murphman... hardly an ideal situation for any team especially having an hours drive to the game after work... but moher have to got to play in these places as well.
also it works both ways.. moher could lose both games or draw and then its up to other teams to take advantage.
everybody should keep the eye on their own team and concentrate on winning all their matches... that is the best that any club can do

this happens every year in clare league... i looks a bit dodgy when a team can get 2 home matches in space of 3 days over a bank holiday weekend,...
is it not possible for clare league to try and play matches on a home & away basis ( e.g. home 1 week ... away next week) ..

but i suppose you still have to win your matches home/ away to win league title and moher already have there points on the table ..

Corofin 0-0 Burren

It was probably a fair result. A very disappointing game where neither team strung three passes together. One or two half chances each, that was about it.

We saw something similar a hew years ago when Mountshannon requested and were given matches on Friday nights because it clashed with their GAA fixtures. This stinks of the same thing again.Have they any matches on Sundays. Why is a soocer league helping other sports????Is this in the interest of soccer to have GAA heads who play soccer to keep fit being accommadated to the detriement of people whose first choice is soccer???

Newtown had the better chances but nemarket deserved their draw. They showed great spirit and will take more points with performances like this.
Pitch was like a bumpy carpark, impossible to pass the ball. In the end a draw was a fair result.

Its looks like Newtowns challange is finished, too many draws, but i'd say their might be a few twists in the league yet.The Avenue could have closed the gap but were held to a draw by Newmarket.Have to say that Olympic look doomed at this stage but with 4 games left you'd never know, saying that they have a very hard end to the season having to play Newtown,Avenue and Moher. They might have a say in who will win the league tough. Oh ya, Moher only drew at the weekend so you can see how things can change.:ball:

Your right it is ridiculous but this is The Clare League we are talking about and we shouldn't be surprised, because after all there was a fixture BACKLOG
and no games could be called off as the league would end up going on far too long. What about the BACKLOG now,its OK now for the league to finish late is it.
I wonder what decisions the other League that are still involved have made
in regards to their own League fixtures, did they call off their own League??Don't think so,just getting on with it as NORMAL. Its a crazy idea and i'd love to know who came up with the idea???????

Lads with midweek games etc. when were the oscar traynor panel ment to train properly with all players available. Even if you had a free evening players always get knocks, niggly injuries and would be sitting out training. its the quater final so why not give them every chance to prepare properly to win the game. whats more important winning the O.T or finishing a league on time? Also with the game on astro turf it was probobly felt that a few extra sessions were needed on that surface...........

The clare league have seriously underestimated the amount of people they have ****ed off with this stupid decision. They are basically taking the **** out of the hundreds of lads who turn out each week to enjoy a game of football so that they can wrap a few players in cotton wool for a competition that nobody really cares about that much. Its a joke and any goodwill there was for the clare team has been killed off. If they get beaten they will all look like even bigger idiots. I'm sure the players involved would rather play league games and be sharper when this match is played. Mad, mad decision:mad:

what a load of! this has to be the most retarded decision all year by the league...the club teams should be number 1 priority not the oscar traynor team, they are the most important, without the clubs in the leagues there is no county team at all.playing for your club is much more important than oscar traynor cup...
So now there wont be premier div games for at least 3 weeks...this is crazy...

The team theyre playin AFL arent callin off their league games...they are playin midweek and weekends right up til the oscar traynor match on the 21st at 4pm.they are even playing premier division games on the monday 16th.

i'm sure a few preimer teams are more worried about finishing league in time.. after all this decision by clare league could cost teams chances of winning league or even staying up.. so i would bet most would prefer to finish league... oscar panel never had any time to train properly before with all players available this decision
still cannot guarantee all players will be available to train with oscar traynor .. typicall clare league though wonder how many of teams withs players on oscar traynor panel were even asked about their views on calling these matches off.

Just a few questions someone might be able to answer.

1. Last time Clare won O.T was premier stopped?
2. Do the players on O.T team want league games stopped or is it just management?
3. Can clubs pull players from O.T?
4. Is there anyone on the committee that can tell us if Clare go through when league will start up again?

Dont know if anyone has answers for questions just wondering

Will this decision have anything to do with the league been moved to the summer?

Surely the league will be still going on while the GAA has started so for people who argue that the league won't work in the summer now surely we will know.

Probably nothing to with it but alot has been said about the league going to a summer league. If this was the case all clubs would get a good idea of what type of squad they have.

Or does this seem a bit too farfetched for the league.

If u all feel so strongly about this why dont you get all Premier clubs to write or email the League with your total disa pproval of this decision. That way they cannot say they are not aware. It looks like they are not aware at present. You need to complain now and not after it happens.you could make it an election issue for the AGM but you need to make them aware now.

Why are ALL premier league games off?
Not every premier side has players on the team.
Avenue, Newmarket, Newtown, Moher and Mountshannon would appear to make up the majority of the team selections.
Lifford, Bridge Celtic, Olympic, Bridge Utd have no players in the starting eleven (that I know of.)
Also all of these clubs are out of the cup. That means they will also have another free weekend while the oscar traynor players play in the Clare Cup for their clubs.
Surely at least some games could have been organised. ??? There are only two premier league games midweek this week. Why is there not a full round of fixtures for Wednesday night??

If u all feel so strongly about this why dont you get all Premier clubs to write or email the League with your total disa pproval of this decision. That way they cannot say they are not aware. It looks like they are not aware at present. You need to complain now and not after it happens.you could make it an election issue for the AGM but you need to make them aware now.

Shels you should know by now that people love to complain about things like this eg summer soccer but when push comes to shove we all know nothing will be done when its so easy to make a difference is it so hard to get a few signatures??????:(
