i agree wit the friday evening games being a joke...but in this instance i feel sorry for moher who have to replay a game cause the opposition couldn't field a team last week..but clare league didn't want to give a walkover to moher as it would be unfair on bridge celtic..so in future if you dont have a full team and your away to a team near top of the table ring and say you won't have a team..BUT THEN AGAIN I DID THAT AND WAS TOLD WHERE TO GO...WHERE'S THE JUSTICE
Also if a walkover was awarded Rineanna would have been deducted 3 points effectively relegating them I guess.

Hi Folks,
I haven't yet figured how to post a new thread in the Clare League forum so excuse me sticking this in as a post to this threas.
I'm new to foot.ie forum and was drawn here when I saw the Clare League thread. I played for Kilrush Rangers from 1977 (aged 15 years and 9 months on debut versus St. Micheal's a match I scored in) to 1989, before work took me elsewhere. Best memory was of a Haughey Cup final versus Bridge Celtic (I was left-back for Kilrush), which although we lost, we still partied hard after!
I am on the Forum to keep up with Clare League football (highly under rated but mostly from lack of good playing surfaces) but also because I know Kilrush Rangers (then Leadmore Rangers) was founded in 1977 and so should have its 30th Anniversary this year. I would love to hear of any events on for that. Does anyone have any contact details for current officials? I'd be very surprised if Robert Clancy is not still involved - I'm sure his son Trevor is in the team by now (feeling old now) ;-) Others of my era where the Roche brothers, John (who also played for Avenue in FAI Junior Final) and Seamus, Martin O'Brien (man of match in above final), Liam Griffin, Pat Deegan etc.
Any info would be appreciated, particularly if there is anywhere else online where I could get info.
Thanks for all the latest news - much of the controversy looks just like it did in the 80's!

I think the way its going, if Rineanna lose to Moher 2moro night, thay will surely be relegated as its their last game of the season... Mountshannon, Bridge Utd and Newmarket all have games in hand and its a battle between these three for the relegation playoff.. What makes it better is that they all play eachother...

how come no other games are being played this week or next..after friday rineanna and lifford will be finished all games..so it cant be to play all last games on final weekend..
Yo Hack,
Obviously the way the fixtures have been planned (or unplanned) there is no way that everyone can finish on the same day ....
Ideally, as we've mentioned on this forum before it would be nice to get a full fixture list at start of season allowing for cup/shield/FAI weekends and any games postponed for weather should just move to end of list.. it'll also allow for clubs to book free weekends between eachother (For dinner dances etc), well in advance...
I think another thing that should be brought in is the referee should ring in score at end of each game (He is surely getting paid enough)- that way there cant be any incidents of wrong scores from home teams which unbelievably has happened and the league could use goal differences etc...
With the referee keeping the score, he should also have goalscorers name included.. that would save us doing it on this forum and make a much more interesting league for all divisions with goalscorer awards etc.... its not that hard as we've proved on this site and the clare league site..
Oh to dream of a league so organised!!

Limerick Lg done it but it did not work as far as I could see.
Problem is that teams have a good run in the Fai of Mjc and do not have lg games for weeks and fall way behind the schedule.
Did anyone see the interview in the Clare People with the Burren manager. He wants to see linesman at all premier games next season.
What hat does he intend to pull these linesmen out of???

A master fixture list would be a lot better than the current system. We would look for a three man fixture committee to draw up fixtures and make the necessary changes throughout the season. Everyone would know where they stand at the start of the season and most likely know who they are playing in the last game of the season. Every league has to accommodate teams that have good cup runs. There is enough weeks in a season for this to be a success. It will eliminate the situation where some clubs can't play matches on Sunday's. At the moment certain clubs are lucky;) with the fixtures but if the fixtures were there before the season started then everyone would know that this was just a coincidence:D.

In his defence I would say for certain the fixture secretary already works with a master schedule the problem with the master schedule is it gets thrown all over the place when you get cancelletions..I know for any team i have been involved with the season starts with home to one team away to another etc....its only when games are called off the problems begin....perhaps Summer football is the answer, less cancellations - more structure to the fixture list.
Is there support for summer football in Clare???

Kildysart beat Burren handy last night.... Surprise Surprise:eek:
Both are now promoted to the Premier and well done to them.
Bunratty wait to see who finishes 8th in the premier and will playoff with them to see who plays premier next year.
Is this the 3rd year of promotion/relegation playoff's. Last year Mntshn beat Corofin and the year before Rovers beat Olympic AFAIK.

Newmarket are finishing strongly and only need 1 win.If they get it on sunday i dont think they will worry about the rest. no disrespect to Burren or Kildysert but the prospect of premier lge football next season travelling to mountshannon, o briens bridge, moher, kildysert, burren does not appeal..but fair play to these clubs they deserve there chance and are there on merit.

Just heard that 1 of Shannon Olympics Star players has just received an 8 Month Ban from the Clare League for receiving A red card after their 2 all draw against Mohar. The red card was shown to the player after the game for calling the Ref a cheating f***er..
Is this 8 Month Ban a bit harsh???
OR,

Can anyone explain how the Clare League have come up with the 8 months suspension for this offense. What is the criteria they use. This looks to me as a figure that has been pulled out of thin air and the player in question has benn made an example of. Why , when the Clare league and the referees have a problem with the level of abuse been thrown at them not come up with a transparent method of punishment that is outlined to the clubs at the beginning of the season. This decision is an over reaction to what is a problem in the Clare league and one that seems to be getting worse. It is understandable that the refs do not want to be abused and from what I have seen this season if the hardline approach they have taken here is their answer to the problem then there will be alot of clubs struggling to field teams with the amount of suspensions. IMO there should be a whole reveiw of the way the league is run , from fixtures to referring and the whole approach by the clubs. Remember the palyers that are out on the pitch are representatives of the club and they have to take some level of responsiblity in the things that are going on . There seems to be a them against us attitude between the clubs and the people who are running the league.

would agree with above ,, but also must add that usually every appeall to clare league fails .. also a lot of current referee's are very poor at their jobs.. which causes a lot of frustration on the pitch with players (still not an excuse to abuse referee) t and i have never heard of any player/club in clare appealing against a referee's
decision / report and winning their case .. how many players have been sent off for bad language this year what i mean by bad langauge is after a bad tackle / foul / offside decision player comments for f**k sake ref / that was never f**king offside... does anybody else class this as red card material... i certainly don't..:ball:

In the Laws of the Game Rule Book, Foul and Abusive Languadge is punished by a Red Card. Referees don't make up the rules, they just implement them.
It is not a player saying for f**k safe ref / that was never f**king offside or similar, it is the way he/she says it. To be honest, most referees will only give a yellow card for dissent. Players are not stupid, they know which referees will tolerate this and those that won't.
Swearing is part and parcel of everyday life and naturally it will be brought onto the field.
Calling the Referee a fu**king cheat, is not normal practise and has no place on the field in my opinion.

while referree's should not have to take verbal abuse..the are the only people in the league who get paid..it can get very frustrating for players when emotions are high and the ref makes a mistake(which everybody does)..how come the refs cant get punished for mistakes..we have played 17 games in league so far this year and not once have we seen a referree's accessor at a game..if you think about it a ref will probably get 2 games each sunday 1 in premier and 1 in another division..they get 44 euro for premier games and 38 for any other division thats 82 euro for 3 hours work thats about 27 euro an hour tax free..and if the make a mistake or say something to a player nothing can be done..but if a players emotions are running high and says stuff he he gets 8 month ban..where is the sense in that...
Great calculating hacker. If we break it down properly. A ref has a game in Shannon at 11.00, to be at the venue in time to do a pre match check means he leaves home at 10.00.
His 2nd game is in Newmarket at 2.30, with the game finishing at 4.15, (taking into account half time). By the time he gets home it is 5 O'Clock with his whole Sunday taken up.
By my calculation 10 in the morning untill 5.00 is 7 hours which comes in at 11.71 an hour (just above minimum wage).
I dont think there are too many players who would do a days work for €82.00.
If there are I am sure there employers would be willing to negoitiate.

You have a point but your logic is flawed. Can you tell me that in your regular employment that you bill from the moment you leave the house to the moment you get home? I doubt it.
That said, you should get paid well for crappy work, and perhaps they sould get paid better. However no matter how badly paid or under appreciated they are, it does not give them the excuse to do a crappy job.
