How short your memory is!!! Is it not just a few years ago Brennie was helping Newtown to a double is that how you lot treat your former players. Werent Newtown relegated back a few years ago. Only to have the kids haul you up a division. Then you were a club in bits after donal magee left you in an awful mess. Only for the legendary Jimmy Rocks to pull you through the ****e auld days. Who by the the initiated the emalgamation talk.. Now park were arragant not to accept. In jimmy's favour he is dead right there is room for only one team in Shannon!!!

6 Years ago now since Brendy played with Newtown. How is Brendy getting bad treatment:confused: As i said before your just trying to stir it up.

dear parkfan i heard brendy came down to play for newtown B team played one friendly who play in the 3rd div in clare found it hard so that is probably why he is signing for your A team. must be much easier to get a game

maybe it is.. there aint many good players down there. so its only natural to play him instead of c team players. quirke, mac donald, mc keogh, hedgey, shane mc carthy, kissane, young o donnell, lockers are the only A team players park have, i remember the days when you lot had to bring back your old guard.

I remember watching Newtown beat Inchicore the last time down in StCaimans field, seemed like a massive crowd that day(granted I was much younger). Any surviving players from that day? Jay or Noel maybe???????

when did newtown bring back their old guard... as far as i know that double winning team with brendan o meara was the break up of the newtown team which included a lot of players who had played for newtown for numerous years..

Parkfan. my memory is good enough to remember when Brendan was willing to kick a ball for anyone. He has played with all teams in Shannon , bar Oly I think, and has also played for Newmarket and a few clubs in Limerick. The point I am making is that you have come on this thread having a go at Newtown for them not using the young players. Obviously you are trying to rattle a few to see if they may be available to the thoughts of moving. By the way I am not a Newtown club man (though I did kick a ball for the dream team a few years back :D ) but I will wish them all the best in the FAI as I would do with any club that are flying the flag for Clare in a national competition.

agree with u totally about wishing newtown & any team flying the flag for clare in any national competition .. you must have done more than just kick a ball for the dream team ... had a very good team a couple of years back

Are you hoping for a starting place Shels... I see you have been putting in the hours on the training field.:D A game against the Dubs and your back like a 19 year old again.

Best of luck to ye anyway. Any word on St James Gate????? They are probably a Leinster Senior Lg club. I remember them in the LOI alright.

They might bring a few kegs down from Inchicore to put behind the bar in the Lodge after the game.... Then there would be singing win, lose or draw.

Leinster Senior League teams cant play in FAI Junior.
Junior/Senior get it????I reckon they are James Gate second side maybe a Saturday team????They are a famous club who had full internationals playing for them including ,for all you United fans,Johnny(Jacky) Carey who would probably get in Uniteds and Irelands all time greats, however he wont be playing on the 10th!!!!!See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_James's_Gate_F.C.

And on the 1st page of the above it says...

(St James's Gate F.C. is an Irish football club that currently plays in the Leinster Senior League.)

So ye are playin their 2nd team as you say. Do you know what lg they compete in if its not the LSL?????

Yes, jay (18)and noel(17) both played that day. Damien Lindsay, current joint manager also played. Great day, Marty Russell scored a screamer from 30yards to win it in extra time. They say a Crowd of 2000+ watched that day in 1993. It seemed more like 10000 to me at the time:)

To all the Newtown Fans;
id just like to apologise for going a bit too far with the banter. i know your club very well and most of the members of newtown know me. therefore i hope that you understand i didnt mean to make it sound like i was having a go, which in hind sight it clearly did. i love to see newtown going well. Ill never forget the memories ive had from there.. plus ive played with most of your players and rate them very highly. please accept my apology for being so childish. also you lot do have the best support in shannon.. ive heard all the stories..

Yeah looking doubtful alright. Last weeks games were called off on this day last week so maybe the same will be done this week. Spoke with CL chairman last night and he was not too optimistic.
If anyone can keep a listen to Clare FM thats where the news broke first last week.

Will we ever get to see this Newtown/Bunratty rematch:mad:

Yes the Clare league are normally most considerate with games over the xmas:rolleyes: I remember traveling to Killarney on St Stephens day for an FAI 4th rd match. Any odds on matches being played on New years eve??

who will pick the team of the month will it be the lads from the clare people who only get to 2 matches a day which are both usually in lees road...

It definately won't be the Clare People reporters who decide who the team of the month is. The idea is being sponsored by O'neills/Clare Champion so I wouldn't worry about not playing in Lee's Road.
The only team that seems to be playing at the moment is the Oscar Traynor Squad, who have played a few challenge games on the all weather (literally) in Lees Road.
There are no fixtures over the Xmas period but there are games pencilled in for the 29/30 December weather permitting, but I can't see the weather clearing up any until the New Year.

god thats worse the clare champion dont go to any matches...either jim madden goes or they ring clubs for score..

i think the refs should pick the team of the month...give every player a rating after games...
lads does the team of the month involve all sports in the county? If so it will be hard for a soccer team to win it given the level of interest the media in clare show towards the "beautiful game"

i might have played in limerick but if playing in limerick 1A is the highlight of your career well CONGRADS TO YOU:D
How are Ryan Kelly and Woodsie getting on this year. Are they training hard. the highlight of my career has to be the day in digi-phone park when Donal Magee asked me to give my shirt to a lad who he had working for him and had just signed...:D :D

This rule generally applies in Clare too but because we have not had many games in the last few weeks it was decided to play games next Sat and Sun.

Any olympic lads with a report on their FAI game. I know yee like to stay quiet these days but seen as it was the fai i was hoping some1 might share the match details. Was it a case of West being too strong or did olympic want to concentrate on league affairs. Are west a side to avoid ion future rounds????

olympic dominated 1st half ritchie hanley scored great goal and was then robbed when lovely bicycle kick went just over..olympic should have been 3 up at half time.but loss of jimmy houlihan after 20 mins and lack of confidence proved vital..newcastlewest no great shapes..2nd half olympic started well but conceded 2 sloppy goals in 6 mins and then some heads
dropped..went all out and were unlucky not to draw level twice..before nw scored 2 more on the break.1 was at least a mile offside..but hey when your not playing great things go against you..i recon newcastlewest wont get much further..only 2 or 3 players that stood out..never the less olympic will come good soon..league is too close to write anybody off yet..

I know this is from a while back,Yea NCW were poor on the day,Olympic were well on top in the first half, however had a very weak team out missing a lot of key players on the day, through to the last 32 now so there is my proof, had an extremly tough game against Burren Utd, conditions made it impossible to play ball, the wind was unreal.
