Well folks. That ticket release was a **** show from start to finish. If the FAIlures can’t organise a cup final ticket sale then god help Euro 2028.
My son went on yesterday and got three in the section next to the south stand.
What are the potential support for Bohs and St. Pats at the FAI Cup Final?
I reckon Bohs have the bigger potential to attract more fans. Bohs are capable of getting 20,000+ out, while St.Pats would be looking to attract 10,000 and upwards.
The potential is for an estimated 35,000 attendance, especially if the weather is kind on the day.
I genuinely think it'll be close to a sell out, something like 45k.
Both clubs will be pushing hard to try and get to the 20k+ mark and there should be more neutrals than usual given the general increased support in the league particularly from the other Dublin clubs.
It's obviously a completely separate thing but given how much interest there was in Galway for quarter and semi final tickets it's opened my eyes to just how high the ceiling is for LOI support.

Supposedly there’s around 20k tickets sold for this years final already after this mornings release to both clubs (including neutrals)

I saw that alright. Great start after a few hours.
Where does the income for the cup semi final tickets go? I saw it mentioned that there's a 40-40-20 split between home-away-FAI in the rounds leading up to this? I assume the final is no different?
For arguments sake 51k x ~20 quid is over a million quid that could be generated from ticket sales alone for this one game. This has turned into serious business for the FAI real fast.
Sports direct are in the first season of a 3 year sponsorship deal, it's hard to know what sort of situation the economy or Irish football will be in by then but you'd hope there'd be a queue of bidders coming to sponsor the cup when it becomes available.
20K tickets is an insane amount to flog within the first few hours. I think in a funny way the ****e facilities usually in place and the lack of tickets all year for LOI fans has meant people have made sure to buy early. Once there's talk about it selling well there can be a snowball affect and people will get tickets if they think there's a fear of losing out later.

Don’t think Bohs are going to outnumber us 2-1 ! I think there is every chance the attendance will be over 40k, in fact I’ll be disappointed if it’s not.
When you think, we used to be able to hold the final in Tolka, it’s fantastic to see.

Considering it was 37000 in 2021, this is heading for a near sell out. Pats support has ballooned since and Bohs has grown from a high base. The ticket prices mean no one who wants to go has an excuse. Weather won't be a factor as no one turns up on the day anymore

I'd be very surprised - and delighted - if the game sells out.
My guess is an attendance of 35-40,000 - and closer to the latter.

Will be an even enough split between the clubs, similar size fan base imo.
Probably about 10k neutrals

The barrage of abuse the FAI and Ticketmaster have been receiving about ticketing on social media seems to have worked, as there are now way more sections available to purchase online.
Which end are each club's fans in? Presumably Pats get the diddy stand/ennd?

Yes Pats were drawn as the away team and are in the North stand

It's frequently stated that you need a crowd of 30k to cover the costs of using the Aviva, particularly as ticket prices are very reasonable for the cup final, so there won't be a huge payday for either club. I think a gate of well over 40k is on the cards, though, given they attracted 37,000 two years ago and there's been a huge upswing in support for the domestic game since.

Still drip feeding tickets though. Wish they'd just open entire stands rather than this block by block nonsense.
Will the FAI Cup Final attendance be more attractive than the upcoming Greece fixture which will probably attract the usual great home support for another disappointing campaign....40,000+ at the Aviva for this one I expect! :)

Tickets even though bought and paid for still “unavailable to view”?????
Useless *******s.

That's pretty commonplace for a lot of events to be fair. A lot of the time the QR code won't show up until the week of/a few days before an event, believe they say that it's to combat touting.

Yeah I tried to give away my New Zealand tickets the other day and the code wasn't available. Its the standard practice.

Same here. Glad it’s not just me. Was wondering if I should be getting worried !

FAI saying the “lower bowl” is now completely sold out. Ticket sales overall must be nearly 30k when you add upper and premium levels sold to-date.

There will be a chunk of seats in the lower tier tapered off like in previous finals but whatever is sold out now on the lower tier is really encouraging for a 40k-45K attendance range I would think

I'm still playing a complicated game of chicken with myself. Holding out for Premium seats in blocks near the middle of the pitch to come up, whilst having no idea if they've already been sold or not :D

Theres no bad view from the premium section in the Aviva. It’s a class part of the ground.

True. But some views will be better than others. And my eyesight isn't great either, so the nearer the middle the better for me.
If only Ticketmaster put all the seats or sections out at once, I wouldn't have to play a guessing/waiting game to see if any better options come up.

The fai Cup is so over rated. Hardly worth playing in to be honest.

There is currently ONE neutral Premium section ticket available in the ground. They haven't opened up more sections yet. Still waiting for a few extra to open yet myself.

Which are the neutral blocks though?
Based on what’s currently available, 523, 526 (although only 2 tickets left in this block), 527 (3 tickets left). Then for premium, there’s 1 ticket in block 303 and about 50-60 tickets in block 307. That’s the only neutral sections on Ticketmaster at the moment. I see there’s also been 4 tickets pop up in the lower tier in the pats end which is a big mad seen as the entire lower tier sold out last week

Customers now sometimes have the option to resell tickets on TM so maybe that’s how there are some available again in the lower tier. Someone probably bought 4 earlier and now can no longer go.
Regarding premium blocks, I got tx in Block305 months ago.

As of today Monday, over 30,000 tickets sold for the cup final which is still approx 4 weeks away.

I passed a poster for the final on a Dublin bus stop shelter today. Good to see it advertised.
Ticket sales have probably slowed now after the early rush by both clubs. I reckon it is well into the mid 30,000 + now.
The extra fans will now come from the casual fans who decide on the day to turn up which could bring it over the 40,000+ figure.
All in all a great attendance will be there.

Any update been provided on ticket sales?
There seem to be quite a few left on Ticketmaster for the top tier in the Bohs section in particular.
Still likely to be a bumper crowd, and the biggest in modern times, but not sure it'll exceed 40k? Probably all depends on the weather for it on the day now.

Doesn't look like it'll break 35k at this stage. After the initial burst of sales it's gone dead altogether.

It's such a good day out. If it doesn't break 40k it won't be long. I'd nearly go myself but.....I wouldn't want to help give bohs or pats the record crowd. Because I'm small and bitter. As it should be.
Pints at a game as well. What a small joy.

I hate bohs and pats equally but I have a soul patch so that gives me a pass.

Annoy yourself less by shaving the soul patch for charity. You can donate it to the fund to keep Pat Hoban.....
But it's nice you can be a neutral...I struggle with that. Although I'd love to go to a Derry v Cork final. or maybe a Louth derby final. Has there been one?

Watching Bohs lose the cup final and miss out on Europe would be a good reason to go but on the other hand watching them win would be a right pain.
I'm small and bitter as well ;).
Its probably unfair of me as all the Bohs fans were cheering us on in Europe :)
In all serioiusness i wont be there this year as im away but regardless of the record attendance or not it will still be a mostly full good advert for the league.
Hopefully its a good game with a few goals

Still two weeks to go however and imagine the clubs and the FAI will continue to market the build-up nicely. Not much else on either with the rugby over and GAA county finals finishing up so expect the sports pages will have a few features

Looking at Ticketmaster just now, there are in total just 190 pats tickets left and a few thousand Bohs ones left in the upper tiers, with no general sale tickets on sale at the moment

The tickets with the QR code are available in your Ticketmaster account now. I’d say some are looking to swap sections etc.
You'd still have to be confident it'll break the record at the very least. Once the season wraps up today you'd imagine the cup final will come into sharper focus. Domestic football has gotten a much better coverage in the past couple years and I'm assuming there'll be decent previews of the game in the week leading up to the final. On paper anyway the game sells itself to the neutral.
Hopefully it's a dry day and everyone who's bought tickets actually goes. Should be a cracker.
