They're replying to people on Twitter now saying they received an email from the FAI with this and everyone else's Cup fixtures. The Athlone game is clearly the League game on the same date.

Wrong caption on the email apparently..hmm..reading it first before tweeting might've been an idea.

If it's anything like the other fixture lists they've sent out, it wasn't even wrongly captioned, just a bit complicated for the Longford boys. :p

long story cut short. any articles from the past with weeks when we were out of season were still put into the programme by our old editor. now when I send same sort of articles to them they say its "unprintable and unreasonable" which I am not happy about so I told them I couldnt do any other pieces this week as it was too short of notice when I was up in Dublin twice this week. Was going to put in past meetings with Cabinteely like I used to do like in the past with other clubs but not going to bother when we havent won yet or havent played many games.
so in other words if I have no copy for a particular week I am not bothering my arse sending it into them. and its you know who whos objecting.
So I wont be contributing too often in future unless I have a lot of copy for the programme. you would think they would be glad to fill in the extra space so sod them!

Why can't the FAI hold the draw on the RTE radio 1 sports at 8.30 like the GAA ? It might boost the competition a bit and get some public interest.
Are they streaming it live anywhere ?
They have made it part of the FAI AGM. Would expect them to stream it.

Well they have a free slot considering all they do is give the annual reports and close the AGM as quickly as they can in case someone asks a question.

Ah now, that's unfair.
They also show their propaganda video of JD handing out cheques, visiting random small clubs, chatting to important looking lads wearing suits, healing the sick, etc.
He turned me into a newt.

Few interesting games there.
Bray vs City & Dundalk vs Derry.
Some good non league battles as well.
Athlon at Ballincollig should be interesting.

Rovers are the cup specialists, so I'm expecting us to win it. Again.

Going to be interesting with the lack of replays.
Obviously not delighted to draw Dundalk away, it's a repeat of the semi-final last year, which Dundalk won in the replay at the Brandywell. Tough enough task to go to Oriel and win, we've taken four points off them this year. I'd imagine it'll be fairly tight. Good chance it'll be on TV too, you'd imagine.

3 premier team definitely gone after this round, possibly more, and 3 non league teams defo through, possibly more, could be an interesting Cup this year,

Happy with the draw. Ramblers might have nothing else to play for by the time the tie comes around, but should have enough for them. Won three of the four against them last season - the first 6-1 - though they were the only team to beat us (albeit after the league had been won).
It'd be nice to have a decent cup run, for once. Limerick haven't reached the last for longer than I can remember.

Closest we came in recent times was when we were supposed to play sheriff or another Dublin junior club In the semi-final after they beat Shels but when they were kicked out and Shels re-instated we lost to Shels and they went on to play Sligo in the final.
So Portmarnock away in Paddy's Hill, looks about the same as Malahide United's ground we played at a few years back... Just a pitch... Anyone been at a Portmarnock AFC game?
Do they let women attend their football matches I wonder.

its the first time since 1969 that we have met Sligo Rovers in the FAI Cup. that year we knocked them out in the greyhound track(2-0 from memory I think). We never meet Sligo much anymore except for the league. We played Sligo in the league cup in 2005 away and beat them 2-0 is the last time we met them in any cup competition!

Dundalk-Derry City scheduled for Sunday 13th at 18:30.
Quite a TV-friendly time. Also means we'll play Dundalk two Sundays in a row.

Hopefully it's on live. I'll be in Gran Canaria so would be nice to watch it in a nice Irish pub while soaking up the afternoon sun 😁

Very odd time for a match, 6.30 on a Sunday, I see that's now on the fixture list part of dundalkfc.com. Dundalk play home to Limerick on the previous Friday then away to Galway in EA Cup semi on the previous Monday, still seems a very long lead time to Sunday.
Maybe there are plans to show it live but not yet announced.

There is a fuction in Lillywhite on the Friday Night for PAYPAL, so id imagine they are giving the club a few pound and it made sense to play the Sunday

All hail PAYPAL!
Please tell me that you are not suggesting that some bar function would take precedence over the scheduling of the cup game.
