Anybody know what Richie Partridge is up to these days? I heard he had a poor season with the Owls and was released at the start of the Summer.

Rumours that the Owls are about to take Shane Long on loan from Reading and as Sturrock, who just mentioned a Premiership team, said "the wee laddie is having a think about it". Owls currently have no fit striker and it would be a short term deal.

Liam Miller played for United's RESERVES as they thumped Preston 7-2 in the Lancashire Cup, he really needs to look for a move to get senior football.
The game was noteworthy for Alan Smith's first start since breaking his leg nearly 6 months ago.

leicester v macclesfield 2-0
McCarthy, Maybury and Logan all started and finished this one, Maybury back in the reckoning after his move to sunderland hit some delays and is on the back burner for now.Logan made his senior debut and did all required in a game where leicester were generally fairly comfortable, he kicked very well and convincingly dealt with a couple of 'edge of the area' moments one in particular where a McCarthy backheader was well short and did him no favours at all.he also came out on top in a couple of one on ones.he didnt have many crosses to deal with as the opponents struggled to set up sustained posession beyond halfway.he had one scuffed kick from his weaker left foot which went to a opponent, but luckily it was outside shooting range.
Maybury did ok, he played at l.b. but delivered poor quality into the box on more than one occasion.not tested defensively much.
McCarthy played well within himself for the most part, he was sloppy with a couple of back-headers but generally untroubled, and he rounded his 90 off nicely with a goal from a corner near the end, he made a run to the back post and headed it low back across the goal for his first of the season, to kill the tie.
on an evening when leicester fielded 5 academy lads there was still no place in the 16 for Alan Sheehan.
match report here, with Logan recieving some praise on his debut

Donal McDermott played for Man City's reserve side as they drew 1-1 in the Pontin's League with a Chester City reserve side containing a few senior players. Neither review mentions him at all, so I can't tell how he played.

I see Colin Doyle played again for Brum at Cardiff. McPahail played well but I don't know if Flood played.
Most interesting thing I saw on BBC Teletext was about Kevin Thornton who scored Coventry's late winner today. Coventry's manager was quoted on Teletext as saying something like Thornton's got all the talent in the world but has serious attitude problems and knows what he has to do to keep himself in the team. Sound familiar?
You'd think someone would be there to advise Kevin given his brother's mistakes.

Anthony Stokes due to make his loan debut for Falkirk against Rangers in a couple of weeks.

Steve Finnan started for Liverpool
Andy Reid starts for Charlton, Matt Holland on the bench
Alan Quinn on the bench for Sheff U
Keano starts at Tottenham
Kilbane + Carsley start at Everton
John O'Shea starts at Man U, Gavin Mahon starts at Watford
Doyle starts for Reading, Stack, Long and Hunt on the bench. Kavanagh and Connolly on the bench for Wigan
Darren Potter and Gary Breen start for Wolves
Updates:
Alan Mahon has scored for Burnley, David Connolly on in the 20th minute for Wigan, he had a hand in Heskey's goal according to the radio announcers...Doyle hasnt had too many chances yet, Reading isnt playing well, though apparently he is one of the best players for them so far. Kilbane has been sent off at Everton. Stephen Hunt is on for Reading, Kavanagh about to come on, Kavanagh just nearly scored, Connolly sent him clean through, Shane Long on now. All reports say Connolly played very well for Wigan, could've had 3, 4 assists, and if he wasnt offside once late, couldve scored, and that Doyle was probably man of the match for Reading, though he didnt have many chances as Reading did not play very well at all......................Andy Reid played well for Charlton, he sent Darren Bent through into the box that led to Charlton's first goal. Not much of an international prospect, but John or JJ (I think JJ's his nickname) Melligan scored for Cheltenham. Dublin-born 24-year old defender. Jason McAteer on late for Tranmere, Mark Kinsella not in the squad this week after starting every week since the beginning of the season

Stokes is at Falkirk? When did this happen?
Speaking of Falkirk, Apparantly Celtic are watching Patrick Cregg with a view of signing him. He has impressed since joining them from Arsenal.

Don't know if you're being sarcastic, but believe it or not, it's a different Anthony Stokes, English though, I think.
Ryan O'Leary, Irish u-19,(David's nephew, Pearse's son) was on the subs bench for Kilmarnock today, he was with Aberdeen last year so I guess his time as a prospect has now passed.
good to hear about the interest on Patrick Cregg from Celtic, maybe Stephen Bradley could follow suit.

According to soccerbase.com, there's only one Anthony Stokes, although he is listed as being English.

Not saying this is gospel, it's quite possible there's another player with the same name, but soccerbase is usually a reliable resource for this sort of thing.

I saw a story on a Tony Stokres on BBC recently and it was clear it wasn't the Irish one. Can't remember the clubs involved.
Anyone know if Marcos Painter at Brum is injured? He hasn't even been on the bench yet this season. Likewise young Adam Rooney at Stoke. Injured?

Today's Times (UK) named Darren Randolph as its player of the day in League One, citing several excellent saves and putting his photo in its weekly ''The Game'' supplement.
Last weekend's Observer (Guardian on Sunday basically) had a small feature on & interview with Shane Supple.
I think the goalkeeping future looks bright with these too teenagers already making an impression, not to mention the current U21 keepers.

leicester v southend 1-0
McCarthy was the only Irishman to start this one for leicester, with Maybury not making the 16 at all and Logan keeping his place on the bench despite Rab Douglas being back in training during the week.
McCarthy and his defensive colleagues were on top throughout this one, restricting the visitors to one clearcut sight of goal which was missed spectacularly.he also showed good pace when isolated one on one, catching the player and having the composure to control it and turn the player when being disposessed would surely have cost a goal, it was a very polished piece of play. he did however miss a half-decent chance from a corner and frustratingly was booked again, this time for repeated offences when challenging in the air, he then ran off before the ref had issued the yellow and was reluctant to come back to take the booking, despite the ref's incerasing impatience and this only made the situation worse with the ref giving him a clear final warning, he would have been better served to just take the yellow and shut up, as the ref had warned him prior to this about his arial jostling. it was his 3rd yellow in 6 games thus far this season, but his defence has now kept 3 consecutive clean sheets and the side is unbeaten in 4.
Kevin Maher captained southend, had a busy game, under the cosh for most of it struggling to set posession up outside their own half.

Garry Breen played for Man City's reserves as they beat Liverpool's second string 1-0. Karl Moore was an unused sub. Actually neither the Liverpool nor the Man City review mention any substitutions, which would be extremely odd.

Quite the Irish contingent at the Irons now - Morris, Keogh, Joe Murphy, Cliff Byrne and Jim Goodwin.
Goodwin and Murphy have senior caps, Keogh has been talked about here for a while now and is still fairly young. I don't know much about Morris, any Leeds fans care to enlighten us?
