Derry v Harps and Pats v Rovers would be a tasty semi final draw.
You can almost feel the FAI's balls getting warm with anticipation...

No you're not.
Nobody can forget Rovers' FAI Cup, First Division and First Division Shield success of 1993/94.

Or UCD's First Division, Leinster Senior Cup and First Division Shield treble of 1994/95
Draw supposedly next Monday night. Maybe on Soccer Republic?
Soccer Republic is way past the FAI's bedtime

Well the other Rovers have done the treble 3 times. Bohs once

Indeed Shams won the treble of league, FAI Cup and Shield (a direct predecessor of the League Cup which was more prestigious than the LC) in 63-4 season plus the City Cup and Leinster Senior for a pentuple. Derry only the third team to win 'the treble' though many others have prevously won 3+ in a season.

I think this is completely spot on re trebles (taken from above link)
Up to 1974 that treble was League, FAI Cup and Shield and since then it is League, FAI Cup and League Cup.Winners of the LOI treble
•1924/25 Shamrock Rovers
•1927/28 Bohemians
•1931/32 Shamrock Rovers
•1963/64 Shamrock Rovers
•1988/89 Derry City

So no current club have won the League, Cup and League Cup?
Sorry DCFC fans:o

Yes still Derry are the only club in Ireland to do the treble.
And if we're talking about clubs in Ireland let us not forget our Northern bretheren, especially the lovable Blues and their seputuple!

Don't get me started on Linfieldifa fc ;)
So Derry"are" the only club ever to have won the league, lc and FAI cup in the same season.
Thank you I rest my case. ;)

Spot on. No need for people to start bringing stats and history and the like into this.

Handy enough for us in the end last night. Always thought if we got the second, the game would be over. Drogs seemed content enough to keep it at 1-0 until late on.
Good to see Patterson back scoring, even if his third had more than a hint of an OG about it.
Off to Finn Park tonight to check out our semi-final opponents then. ;)
Harps through 4-1.
Harps Derry, Pats Rovers Aviva Stadium Double Header.
Congratulations to Harps, be great to see two derby semi finals. This was mentioned last year about a double header but I still think it will toss of the coin as usual for home advantage.
It could be a big September for Donegal !

Could have been much more than four tonight. Delighted though to be honest. Big semi final on our 60th year and 40 since our last cup win.

Are you joking or serious? There'd be good marketing potential in a double header if Harps and Derry were drawn away to Dublin teams, but even then the FAI wouldn't be bothered.

Naw a DerryvHarps and PatsvShams double header would be some craic in the Aviva but that'll never happen!!!!

It'll certainly happen though. Harps v Derry in Finn Park and Shams v Pats in Tallaght is the likely draw outcome, two games on tv, packed out grounds and it wouldn't cost the FAI a cent. Financially better for the clubs too.

Joking but at the same time I think it'd be a great idea if the draw fell that way.

It'd also better the Lansdowne attendance for Oman by a long way.

Both semi's confirmed for Sunday 5th October and the draw is moved from Cork to Dublin on Monday at 5pm.

Anti cork bias again !!
Yeah, also what's wrong with having it in Monaghan for a change?
The FAI have no regard for football in this country.

It was set for Cork?
They must have been pretty confident of Avondale progressing then.
Anti cork bias again !!
Our referees more than make up for this.
It was Cork because of Ford's HQ I think.
Harps through 4-1.
Harps Derry, Pats Rovers Aviva Stadium Double Header.
In some ways I think a double header semi in the Aviva would be a great idea. On the downside I think going to the Aviva for the final is quite special, and it might dilute that if the semis were there too.

There's going to be an awful lot of people saying "I knew it was fixed" when these derbies are drawn out

Pats will throw it just to get the inevitable loss out of the way. Better Harps than Rovers. Leaves ye free to play your reserves against us in the last league game. Everyone's a winner.

Derry Pats final guaranteed. Pats will somehow manage to lose yet another final.

Derry at home, not the best draw but certainly not the worst. And the fine people of Ballybofey can sleep easy knowing the knife-wielding hoards will be kept at bay for another year.

Happy with draw, Harps will give us a tough game but fancy us to progress to the final and a day out in the Aviva.

So are Finn Harps any good? I haven't seen them live in years, I see they're 10 points behind Wexford Youths who are 4th but safe from finishing in the bottom 3.

Good, on their day, solid annoying auld hoors to break down. Occasionally crap, but never against us!

Ah come on. 2 non league teams and a first division team in the draw so far. You haven't much to complain about.

Away to Cork, Wexford and Dublin. Combined distance of 2,062km travelled and only took a replay for us to get a home game. Another 450km round trip to make for the semi final.
This, all completely besides the fact we've to travel to Waterford, Wexford, Cobh already twice a season, the entire length of the country, with our closest away fixture being Longford, a mere 320km round trip from Finn Park to City Calling Stadium.
Harps annual spend on transport and travel expenses this season has been absolutely huge.
But nope, nothing to complain about.
Couldn't care less about who we play, it's the fact we can't seem to get any sort of lucky break.
As for our chances against Pat's, slim to nil. I'd expect us to go down there and try to frustrate Pat's into a 0-0 draw. We can't score goals, hence our league position, but our defence is as good as anyones on their day. Expect the worst semi-final you've ever seen.

Cant get a lucky break!!!! How is 2 non leagues and a 1st division team not getting a lucky draw! What do you want 3 BYEs.
